Owen Jones “supporters” “visit” Giles Coren’s home

Right, not sure you’ll agree that this belongs in Feminism as such but as it involves women’s greatest fanboy (not) Owen Jones I thought it’d be of an interest. Just to show what sort of people support him and his ideas.
Giles Coren might be a tit but I can’t imagine his column readers visiting his adversaries‘ homes and upsetting their families. It’s the paragraph titled “Beyond a joke“.

The Times sits behind a paywall so we can’t read it unless we have a subscription or a read token (I don’t have either). Can you c&p?

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 07/01/2020 15:27

I’d love to do a share token but don’t know how - will have a look on the comp (on the phone now) after the school pick up. If no luck I’ll copy and paste.

That must have been so scary for them.

Underneath the article there is an envelop icon, when you click on that it will open an email (you might have to sign into your email account at that point) with a link with a share token that you can then copy and paste.
This doesn't always work. I can't do it on my Android tablet (does link but no share token) or on my Android phone (simply refuses to open email) but works fine on my work and private computer.

Psychotic wankers but I do think Coren is reaching a bit when he says that 32% of the country voting for Labour in the recent GE were voting in any way for Owen Jones’ ideology.

EntirelyAnonymised · 07/01/2020 15:33

Thank you for the share folks Flowers

EntirelyAnonymised · 07/01/2020 15:41

”And if these people (whom 32 per cent of the country hoped would be in power by now) are going to besiege my wife and children because of a harmless joke, then Twitter has to go.”

I voted Labour, it made sense in my constituency and whilst I don’t agree with all of their policies, they are the partying align with the most. That said, I absolutely DO NOT condone the actions of the people who stalked Giles Coren and harassed his family.

Binterested · 07/01/2020 15:45

This is so embarrassing and puerile of those OJ acolytes. I am not a particular GC fan but this is unacceptable targeted harassment. The Labour Party and the Guardian need to step away from this hysterical self publicist. He’s Jolyon Maugham without a QC basically.

FloralBunting · 07/01/2020 15:48

Out of booody order. Jaysus, Coren can be a pillock at times, but what in the fucking name of sanity gives people the idea that this kind of intimidatory shit is acceptable?

Reallybadidea · 07/01/2020 15:50

It's utterly shit that this happened, but I don't understand what twitter has to do with anything. These Momentum yobs were annoyed about something he'd written in The Times, but why did this mean he had to leave Twitter?

DarlingNikita · 07/01/2020 15:51

How horrible for him and his family.

However, as is almost always the case, this is only a tiny and (I hope) unrepresentative group of people, spoiling it for the rest of us, as teachers used to say.

RuffleCrow · 07/01/2020 15:51

Don't like either of them. Leave the dodgy men to fight their own battles.

Mockers2020Vision · 07/01/2020 15:52

"Did not know OJ was gay" sounds a lot like the footballer who "did not know the Rothschilds were jewish"

Two Wrongs Don't Make A Right

Waterandlemonjuice · 07/01/2020 15:54

I read this earlier. Giles Coren has deleted all his tweets. It’s frightening, the lengths people will go to.

CadburysTastesVileNow · 07/01/2020 15:56

What was the tweet, anyone know?

Can’t believe he didn’t know OJ was gay. OJ only pauses in his berating of women to remind us all that he is gay and consequently in a position to advise us all on the definitive position on LGBTQ+ issues and why men are more important than women. Even in the context of that excruciating slogan t shirt he thought was so cool and funny late last year.

So unlikely GC doesn’t know. Matt Chorley would definitely know given his job is following people in politics.

Nevertheless this shows OJ and his people up for who they are. Damaging little shits.

RubberBabyBuggyBumpers · 07/01/2020 15:57

What's this got to do with Owen Jones? Confused

Mockers2020Vision · 07/01/2020 16:01

Coren's hilarious tweet:

www.indy100.com/article/giles-coren-owen-jones-homophobia-times-twitter-9265611

Think Mrs C must have had it away with the milkman, because he hasn't inherited any of his dad's talent.

popehilarious · 07/01/2020 16:02

What was the tweet? Why does he think Labour voters want random Twitter users to be in power? (Unless that was copied incorrectly?)

This is the obvious next step, isn't it, if a retweet can be considered by the police to be a hate incident, people feel entitled to act. IRL.

FloralBunting · 07/01/2020 16:13

As bizarre as it may seem, no, not everyone will be fixated on Owen Jones' sexual orientation, so as possibly unlikely as it may seem, the fact that he's gay might not have been at the forefront of the minds of everyone who talks or writes about him.

But that aside, if the oily Jones can shrug his shoulders at women complaining on forums about his promotion of the 'suck dick for socialism' t-shirt as 'just a joke', then I'm at a loss to see why a bad taste comment on Twitter that was clearly meant to be humourous, even if it wasn't actually funny, should elicit a threatening intimidation visit to a woman and her children.

BoswellSolver · 07/01/2020 16:15

I didn't know OJ was gay until a few weeks ago. He has a twitter banner photo of him with a woman, who I always assumed was his gf.
It's entirely possible.

Apollo440 · 07/01/2020 16:16

Didn't know that Little OJ was the only gay in the village? But LOJ reminds us constantly in case we forget. It's what makes him a special snowflake.

FloralBunting · 07/01/2020 16:20

Boswell, indeed. A friend of mine who has heard of him, and seen him on the telly, but has a full and varied life had no idea until very recently. It all smacks rather keenly of 'Don't you know who I am?' style nonsense for you or your fans to expect everyone to know about your personal life.
