Fabulous. Just fabulous. I remember reading in an interview with her that Dumbledore was gay, and realizing that it was actually obvious in the books, and being delighted.

But this is the real shit. The timing- superb. I wonder if she was waiting for the perfect moment, or if, as said upthread, the ruling was just too much to take.

I'm sure she did it well knowing what to expect, so I'm not worried about her backing down. On twitter, so many "what's going on?," with replies to them from the frothers doing so much work for the gc set.

It's almost like she set them up with that well-worded tweet.
And I'm so very glad for Maya, it must have given her such a boost.

I am worried due to the amount of negative comments against JK she may retract her statement and make an apology. Please stand firm JK. Many of us agree with what you say.

I don't think she will retract, she has 48k likes (most of her tweets get nearer 10k) and most of the posts attacking her are just mindless rage.

She also will have known what she was getting into, and I am guessing she already has strategies for surviving when social media goes nuts.

For a so-called controversial opinion, it seems that most people agree with it. What. A. Surprise.

For all the fear it isn't controversial at all.

I don't do social media but do talk openly about trans ideology to people in real life, and by people I mean the general public who I work with.

Nobody thinks human beings can change sex. Nobody thinks transwomen are women, and very few feel any sympathy for them.

Trans ideologists live in an utter bubble. Everyone else is either ignoring them, laughing at them or avoiding them.

Just been reading tweets by various bright sparks, one stating that science has "literally proved" you ARE the sex you feel you are (actually, she probably said gender) and some guy saying Science Has Proved that there are more than 2 sexes.
This is all on the Twitter of a musical theatre performer I follow, who's a good singer, but what Judge Judy would call "not too swift!"Grin
Her gulliable fans will read this crap and take it as gospel of course...

What I want to see now - every eminent and well renowned biologist stating in a letter to the Times or whoever the hell else that biological sex is not a choose-your-own deal.

Presumably she's spoken out now, because unlike that judge, she knows that for many women, to not be able to refer to someone by their actual sex 'violates their dignity and/or creates an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment. The approach is not worthy of respect in a democratic society.’

Arguments that get on my tits:

  1. Trans rights are human rights repeated like polly wants a cracker.
  2. Rights aren't like a pie, people getting more rights don't means less for you. (Ignoring the whole point of the fucking conversation).

Also, less than 10% of UK internet population use Twitter. Definitely not representative of anything but one small circle jerk.

I wish people would keep posting photos of Gregor Murray so all the Americans flooding JK's feed realise this is who Maya was expected to say was biologically female.

John Boyne survived the storm and his book did fine.
The blue hairs are just a tiny proportion of the people who buy her books. Hardly anyone who has read her previous work is going to not buy the next one because of this and it's clear from the likes that more people agree with her than not.
