I've just been called a TERF...

On Facebook.

Local Facebook page, a man posts a discussion about Prolife protesters outside abortion clinics. A picture of himself with a sign saying 'screw these guys', pointing to the Prolifers.

He then proceeds to lecture women thinking about counter protesting, saying sometimes it makes the situation worse (yet he posts a photo of himself clearly antagonising the prolifers at a previous protest Hmm )

I point out to people thinking about counter protesting, with a particular group who are mentioned, that the prochoice group hold certain views about gender that conflict with my own.
That they believe the word woman should not be used on placards as 'people of all genders use abortion services'
Obviously it's just women that use abortion services.

So a sign stating 'A woman's womb is no ones business but her own' would not be allowed. It would have to say 'A person's womb is no ones business but their own'

Anyway. I was blocked by the OP.

This below was the reason.

Funnily enough, before he blocked me I received around a DOZEN likes from Women agreeing with what I said. They also believe that the word woman is Not dirty and should be a use able word in relation to abortion services.

Yet this man think he knows better than them and me.

He blocked me again before I could reply.

Argh.

I've just been called a TERF...

I'm a dissenting voice

dissenting against what ? people being bigots? great, I'm dissenting against that too - so good when people agree Smile

Ereshkigal · 29/09/2019 12:26

Karkasaurus amply demonstrating the logical inconsistency and inability to engage with rational debate at the heart of genderism

This person has demonstrated this on multiple threads under more than one username. Agree we should ignore.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/09/2019 12:56

Although maybe karkasaurus could return to tell us what sort of warning MNHQ gives for racking up 4 deletions on one thread?

Someone who's been on MN may not be a troll in the sense of someone who registers purely to make mischief. However, that surely doesn't give carte blanche to post on specific issues in a manner indistinguishable from the latter. Actually, I'd be inclined to hold established posters to somewhat higher standards than a newbie who might be ignorant of the guidelines. I've been around for donkeys' years but wouldn't for a moment think that meant I could go and write posts like that on threads where I might be the 'dissenter'.

Karkasaurus · 29/09/2019 13:16

I haven't had any warning. Most likely they're been deleted because it's Sunday.

I'm sure you are all very shocked to discover that people find your attitude disgusting.

feelingverylazytoday · 29/09/2019 13:24

I'm sure you'll be very shocked to discover that 88% of the population tend to agree with us (as per the survey commissioned by Pink news) and probably wouldn't give a single solitary fuck if they're called TERFS either.
I wouldn't be surprised if that 88% is rising by the day either.

Ereshkigal · 29/09/2019 13:25

I'm sure you are all very shocked to discover that people find your attitude disgusting.

You're the one with 4 deleted posts in the same thread in the space of an hour.

ScrabbleInMyPants · 29/09/2019 13:28

Funny how non of OUR posts have been deleted.

Tides are changing.

This shit will no longer be tolerated.

Karkasaurus · 29/09/2019 13:40

One of your posts has been deleted actually.

ScrabbleInMyPants · 29/09/2019 14:01

Yes because I said troll. And troll hunting is banned.

Not because of my views.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/09/2019 14:07

as per the survey commissioned by Pink news well colour me rainbow shocked...

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 29/09/2019 14:54

you do seem unable to support your views karkasaurus

maybe they're unsupportable?

Ereshkigal · 29/09/2019 14:54

as per the survey commissioned by Pink news well colour me rainbow shocked...

They made the mistake of spelling out the legal ramifications of self ID. Don't worry, they ran another less honest survey asking a meaningless question this year, to get the result they wanted. Normal service resumed (although they still only got 56% in favour). The original survey appears to have been memory holed by PN.

Karkasaurus · 29/09/2019 15:07

Why do you keep trying to goad me into arguing with you when I've made it quite plain that I don't intend to?

And I'm sure it would be awfully convenient if the reason for that was that there wasn't an argument against it. But it's simply that I don't have the time to discuss this with you, particularly since we both know you don't want to hear what I think; you want an opportunity to expound your own views once more.

But do go ahead and congratulate yourselves on what right thinking individuals you are without my participation.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/09/2019 15:24

No one is asking you outside for a fight (that’s other people’s tactics).

People are asking for your argument laid out - facts - not just ‘your all bigots’ which is hardly going to sway any discussion. So take a moment out of your busy schedule and write 3 bullet points:

‘Humans can change sex because...’

Besides, you are well aware that many of the women here are saying ‘I have been called abusive names because I don’t believe that humans can change sex’. So coming on here just to throw in insults is doing what exactly (beyond proving their point)?

TERFisNotAnInsult · 29/09/2019 15:24

You know what the most hilarious part about being called a TERF is for me?

I am not against trans people. At all.

In fact I support any person who breaks out of the highly troublesome gender stereotypes we have created in society.

I don't believe in gender.

Therefore I praise any man who wants to wear a dress. I commend women who let their natural hair grow free. I support any man who wishes to wear makeup. I support ay woman who wants to work construction.
Because all these things are available to both SEXES. There shouldn't be gender rules for each sex.

I do however draw the line at men being able to take on the legal status of a women. Our DNA and sex defines us and gives us certain legal protections.
We as humans are distinctly different in SEXES. It's a fact. A biological and social one.

Men and women as sexes are not interchangeable.

Men do not bear children. Women do not produce sperm.
Men have a immensely higher rate of rape and violence.

These things are simply facts and they are facts that mean women do need protection against them in many circumstances. As do children.

Is every trans man a threat? No.
Are biological men more likely to be a threat? Yes.
Does being a trans woman lower the risk of a biological man being a threat? No.

Do women deserve to feel safe in specified women only spaces? Yes.

Should a man be free to wear a dress if he wants?
Yes.
Should said man (providing he is an upstanding member of society with no previous convictions for assaults, sexual or otherwise) be allowed to wear a dress and be treated with respect for doing so? Yes.

Should he be allowed to be recognised legally as a woman and be allowed to integrate with every aspect of women's lives with out question, including unbridled access to women's services such as rape crisis, menstruation meetings, breast cancer survival groups and women's shelters?

NO.
No he shouldn't. Because he simply is not a biological woman and cannot be.

There is a place for transwomen in society. But it is not in women's spaces.

So the purpose of you being on the thread is....? Maybe bustle off and get on with what you're so busy doing, then.

TheAlternativeTentacle · 29/09/2019 15:31

Why do you keep trying to goad me into arguing with you when I've made it quite plain that I don't intend to?

Because you have made no point apart from 'stop being mean'?

It really is no surprise for a man to be told he is a man, no matter what he is wearing. For someone then informed of that fact, to burst forth with threats and/or violence, is their problem, not mine.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 29/09/2019 15:32

”People are asking for your argument laid out - facts - not just ‘your all bigots’ which is hardly going to sway any discussion. So take a moment out of your busy schedule and write 3 bullet points:

I would be very interested to read what @Karkasaurus’ three bullet points would be, @LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD - it is the question they all want to dodge, isn’t it - how can a human being change from one biological sex to the other? After all, if I had plastic surgery to give me pointed furry ears and a tail, and said this meant I had BECOME a cat, no-one would tell me I was right and a human can change species - so how can some people believe you can change your biological sex?

I shall wait with baited breath for @Karkasaurus to come back and explain the science behind a biological Male turning into a biological female or vice versa.

Karkasaurus · 29/09/2019 15:33

I wouldn't even bother to tell you to stop. You go right ahead with my blessing to spout whatever nonsense you want. But if you expect to post rubbish like this, don't be surprised to see a few scornful comments in response. Be realistic.

Realistic - oh my days.

Karkasaurus · 29/09/2019 15:35

I'm not discussing the matter with you. But please don't let that stop you from writing your diatribes.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 29/09/2019 15:36

Come one. Just one bullet point? Just 3 words?

Can’t? You add nothing the the thread nor do you wish to. You have no argument and you know it.

Facts.

Karkasaurus · 29/09/2019 15:37

What part of no didn't you get?

TheAlternativeTentacle · 29/09/2019 15:37

I'm not discussing the matter with you. But please don't let that stop you from writing your diatribes.

Ok. Thanks for the info.
