Special trans taxi services to keep them safe

Hey BBC, where's our front-page promoted article and video interview about all the things women have done for and by each other, for centuries, to stay safe in public? No?

The "look at poor ickle us suffering from these things nobody has ever had to worry about before" is so infuriating. We have been living this shit forever.

So by that logic, presumably you're happy with me saying that you're at greater risk of being in a car accident than being raped by a taxi driver, so why are you bothered about the chances of being raped?

You can say what you like kark.

🤣

And, I for one, fully encourage you.

Karkasaurus · 07/09/2019 17:45

And two percent will be a woman, so why are you happy to be alone with a woman?

Datun · 07/09/2019 17:46

Nope, just if you're going to dig and insinuate at posters you can't really be surprised when it turns out they mis-read what you (supposedly) meant - just come straight out and say what you actually mean instead of insinuating stuff.

🤣

Ereshkigal · 07/09/2019 17:46

And I personally find it difficult to accept the concept that I'm magically safe from harm if I'm alone with a woman.

No one here has said that. Women do pose a small risk to other women. Dwarfed by the risk the male sex class do. Magic won't help you with a predatory male, either.

Strawperson x I've lost count, but it is basically the same few over and over and over again

Datun · 07/09/2019 17:47

And two percent will be a woman, so why are you happy to be alone with a woman?

What women? You're going to have to be more specific. My mum?

RosesAndRaindrops · 07/09/2019 17:47

98% of the time they'll be male. Stop pretending that's not the case.

Yes, statistically more likely to be male, yes.
So with that being the case, you can either go around segregating yourself, feeling vulnerable, and scared of every man, or you can apply rationality.
I'm going for the latter.

CatalogueUniverse · 07/09/2019 17:48

Whether I’m at more or less risk from other things is completely irrelevant.
Risk assessments are not done on the basis of the chances of being bitten by a shark versus whether that bridge can hold 40 cars.

One woman gets in a taxi.
Assess risk based on sex of driver.

It’s not hard.

Karkasaurus · 07/09/2019 17:48

Don't evade the question. Why are you happy to be alone with a female stranger when there's a two percent chance that she will sexually assault you?

Ereshkigal · 07/09/2019 17:49

Round and round we go on "Understanding Risk for Dummies". Some people don't seem to have got past the blurb on the back cover yet.

RosesAndRaindrops · 07/09/2019 17:49

Oh look, it's doing it's rolling emojis, had a bet on with myself, I won Grin
So predictable it's actually funny.

Datun · 07/09/2019 17:49

Um, recognising that men commit 98% of all sex crime, and 20% of women will suffer from it, is applying rationality.

Perhaps you meant a different word?

Datun · 07/09/2019 17:49

Oh yeah, I forgot you don't like the emojis, roses.

RosesAndRaindrops · 07/09/2019 17:50

No, I didn't. I don't expect you to get what I actually said going on past experience so not much point even trying lol

Ereshkigal · 07/09/2019 17:50

You're just as predictable Roses because I had a bet with myself you'd make a comment on Datun's emoji, as you have done before.

Fraggling · 07/09/2019 17:50

Kark your view then is that sex segregation is not important at all when it comes to women's safety? In certain circs.

Karkasaurus · 07/09/2019 17:51

You know the answer. Because you feel the risk is so negligible that it's not worth rearranging your life so that you're never alone with a female stranger.

And that's precisely the same reason that I, and many, many, many others are quite happy to be alone with a transwoman. Because the chances of them being a rapist are negligible.

Ereshkigal · 07/09/2019 17:51

X post with Datun 🤣

CatalogueUniverse · 07/09/2019 17:51

Which is lower
2% or 98%?

It’s a hard one.

I’m going with 2%.

I have to get a taxi.
Do I choose
98% risk or 2% risk.

I think I’ll go with 2%.

RosesAndRaindrops · 07/09/2019 17:52

Well yeah, seeing as I've said on the thread I don't put up with the snide attacks on here, was pretty predictable that I'd bring it up lol, don't exactly need a crystal ball Grin

S1naidSucks · 07/09/2019 17:52

Because the chances of them being a rapist are negligible.

Actually the changes of them being aggressive is statistically the same as other men.

Fraggling · 07/09/2019 17:53

Way more than 20% of women experience sex crime, I'd put it at 100% over a lifetime and most multiple occasions.

Were you just referring to rape?

Ereshkigal · 07/09/2019 17:53

And that's precisely the same reason that I, and many, many, many others are quite happy to be alone with a transwoman. Because the chances of them being a rapist are negligible.

They are just as likely to be a rapist as any other male person. And no that specific risk isn't "negligible" Hmm

Karkasaurus · 07/09/2019 17:54

So you can just not get in a taxi with them then, can't you?

Ereshkigal · 07/09/2019 17:54

Why are your emojis and lolz acceptable and Datun's aren't?

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 07/09/2019 17:54

Id like 98% if its a lottery win

And 2% if its victim of a crime

Please and thank you
