Hey BBC, where's our front-page promoted article and video interview about all the things women have done for and by each other, for centuries, to stay safe in public? No?

The "look at poor ickle us suffering from these things nobody has ever had to worry about before" is so infuriating. We have been living this shit forever.

Still no answer then?

& that poster got substantial sympathy for being attacked, & was perfectly reasonably pulled up on telling women to 'get fucked'.

RosesAndRaindrops · 07/09/2019 16:41

Still no answer then?

To what Confused

TheAlternativeTentacle · 07/09/2019 16:46

I think too much time online can lead one to believe things are more common than they are. Like, for instance, I've probably not actually seen even ten obviously trans individuals in my entire life, despite it being such a omnipotent subject on here.

Every single woman i know that is an adult human female, has had some sort of sexual assault at one time in their lives. From groping, through to rape. I am incredibly lucky that I don't know a woman that has been murdered by their ex/current partner, but I know it happens 2-3 times a week.

The problem is men.

Trans is just a get out of jail free card that people shriek 'we can't be mean to them because they are so vulnerable'. Without stopping to think of the consequences of this utterly batshit response.

PurpleCrowbar · 07/09/2019 16:46

Roses, Erishkigal asked:

'So Roses you unequivocally think it's OK for women to be able to set up taxi services with no male people, drivers or passengers, even ones who identify as women?'

Obviously you don't have to answer questions that you evidently find difficult?

TheAlternativeTentacle · 07/09/2019 16:48

The minimising of an assault victim in the middle of the thread who got upset and had to leave the thread was a particular low point.

Many of us are assault victims. We can still sit and ask questions about your reasoning [which as you showed, starts and ends at 'tarring all men with the same brush'. NAMALT.

RosesAndRaindrops · 07/09/2019 17:05

Many of us are assault victims

Yes, so you'd think that you'd (general you) would empathise with someone sharing an assault story, not minimise it or accuse of bringing up to score points ffs.

Oh, that
Yeah, I've already said on the thread my opinion on women only taxis so not what sure what this snarky reply is about *Obviously you don't have to answer questions that you evidently find difficult?
Can't be arsed typing it out yet again, basically was along the lines of crack on, do what you like, I have no problem with people wanting women only taxis, why would I? Go ahead, ring up for one, or set your own up if there's none available in your area,.... so yep, no probs with them.

RosesAndRaindrops · 07/09/2019 17:09

Oh and before I get accused of missing the point, I'm not - I'm aware it's supposed to be a gotcha about transwomen.
Yes, some women want biologically only women taxis, fair enough - that's up to them. I have no problems with somebody setting one up, I can see how it would be discriminatory and excluding though unlike some.

PurpleCrowbar · 07/09/2019 17:11

Thank you.

Some of your earlier posts did rather give the impression that you thought it was exclusionary if a female only service didn't cater to transwomen as passengers.

I must have misinterpreted your position.

Datun · 07/09/2019 17:14

I can see how it would be discriminatory and excluding though unlike some.

Yes it discriminates against men and excludes them. On the basis that they are not of the female sex. Glad you get it.

Karkasaurus · 07/09/2019 17:14

Thanks for sticking up for me @RosesAndRaindrops

The reaction to saying you've been attacked by a woman is incredibly ironic.

We've even got bloodthirsty murdering despots being defended here. All to support this nonsensical narrative that woman good man bad.

PurpleCrowbar · 07/09/2019 17:16

Ah, x post! Also thank you.

I think where we may differ is in thinking that 'discriminating' or 'being exclusionary' can sometimes be proportionate.

I would see a trans only taxi service as discriminating proportionally against non trans people to meet a specific need (not sure how they'd determine who met the criteria, but not by circus etc etc).

A service run by & for female people, excluding males, would be operating on the same basis of proportionality IMO.

RosesAndRaindrops · 07/09/2019 17:18

Is it trans only taxi though? I'm reading it as trans friendly, not sure how a trans only taxi would even work as a good business model!

PurpleCrowbar · 07/09/2019 17:18

my circus.

Discriminating 'by circus' ('go on, show us yer juggling! No? Fire breathe a bit then?') would definitely be impractical Grin

Datun · 07/09/2019 17:19

All to support this nonsensical narrative that woman good man bad.

Men commit 99% of all sex crime and 90% of all violent crime. In fact they commit the majority of most crime.

Hence sex segregation. Especially when women are vulnerable, undressed, disrobing, with their knickers around their ankles, in prison, etc.

Minimising it by calling it nonsensical only undermines the reason for sex segregation in the first place.

Karkasaurus · 07/09/2019 17:19

Do you often take taxi journeys in your underwear?

Datun · 07/09/2019 17:21

Do you often deny that women are vulnerable in the back of a taxi?

RosesAndRaindrops · 07/09/2019 17:21

Do you often take taxi journeys in your underwear?

Good point, I know I don't Grin

Karkasaurus · 07/09/2019 17:22

I often deny that they're specifically at risk because the taxi driver is trans, yes, which is what you actually mean.

Datun · 07/09/2019 17:22

Hence why I said women who are vulnerable Confused

PurpleCrowbar · 07/09/2019 17:22

No, I agree Roses that 'trans only' would be a problem to police if someone went looking to cause them embuggerance.

Most decent non trans people would self exclude, though, & respect their boundaries, as has been repeatedly said by posters on this thread.

The sort of people who would not, I suspect, would pretty much exclusively be men.

RosesAndRaindrops · 07/09/2019 17:23

Do you often deny that women are vulnerable in the back of a taxi?

So ring up a women only taxi driver service then if you feel vulnerable. A quick google shows there's plenty about, if there's not campaign for one or set one up in your area?
You're doing your trick of speaking for all women again.

Datun · 07/09/2019 17:23

Haha, oh kark you are funny. And your mask is slipping.

Fraggling · 07/09/2019 17:23

This badger person asserting that sex crimes against women and girls are rare so stop making a fuss, and you only feel that way because of the internet (yeah not experience obv) is starting to get right on my tits.

Karkasaurus · 07/09/2019 17:24

And what mask would that be, please?

PurpleCrowbar · 07/09/2019 17:25

What difference would it make if I did take taxi journeys in my underwear, Karkasaurus?
