Special trans taxi services to keep them safe

Hey BBC, where's our front-page promoted article and video interview about all the things women have done for and by each other, for centuries, to stay safe in public? No?

The "look at poor ickle us suffering from these things nobody has ever had to worry about before" is so infuriating. We have been living this shit forever.

Do any of you people actually know any trans women?

Ereshkigal · 06/09/2019 19:17

X post, glad to hear it.

Karkasaurus · 06/09/2019 19:18

I personally know several trans women.

FlyingOink · 06/09/2019 19:18

Also two minutes of searching shows that female driver only firms exist but firms who only pick up female fares are banned.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that women drivers might be less inclined to work for a firm where the potentially dangerous man she is picking up has chosen her company because he is guaranteed to get a female driver.
She might feel safer in a mixed company. So it makes it harder for female driver-only firms to succeed.
If it was legal for those firms to only offer travel to females they might have more potential drivers and business would be boosted.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 06/09/2019 19:20

Yet here you are - lecturing women Grin

PurpleCrowbar · 06/09/2019 19:22

I literally don't care

That would do me, to be honest. So long as you aren't campaigning against provision of a service which women wanted, I can't see any reason why you should be expected to care.

& yet.

Here we have page after page of women actively wishing a trans only taxi service well.

It's not a case of 'literally don't care'; women are empathising with the trans people who want such a service & making supportive comments.

But that only seems to go one way.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 06/09/2019 19:22

Ooops - too slow to post. that was to K

bd67th · 06/09/2019 19:25

The point is, rape, sexual assault, violence and abusive behaviour is not a penis/no penis binary. Believe me, you can be hurt pretty badly with hands alone.

Rape is a penis/no-penis binary under English law. How many times do I have to say this and cite section one of the Sexual Offences Act 2003 that defines rape as needing a penis?

I was also sexually assaulted using hands. The boys who did that had the option, had they chosen to, to escalate to rape and put me at risk of pregnancy as I was post-menarche (just). No female-born person can ever escalate to rape, and that matters when I'm risk-assessing who is safer to be around.

Males outnumber females as perps by around 20:1, and that also matters when I'm risk-assessing who is safer to be around.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 06/09/2019 19:27

If there had been a case where a female assaulted/sexually violated/murdered a tw, it would have been front page news and permanently signwritten across the sky by the activists as some twisted proof that women are just as bad as men.

But when a male sexed person does the same to a female it barely makes page 12 of the local rag because it's so bloody common.

Yes, have known trans women since the 90s. Why do you ask?

Oh dear, a reading comprehension error again Karkasaurus

bd67th 's post in no way contrasted the severity of your respective sexual assaults

So you would be quite happy for me to tell you've virtually no chance of being raped so avoiding men is stupid?

No, because it bears no resemblance to reality. Rape is distressingly commonplace, around 6% of men rape according to Lisak and Miller's study, as many as a quarter of women will face rape or attempted rape during their lives, and a third of men think a woman doesn't have the right to change her mind during sex and him continuing in the face of her voiced refusal would not be rape. A THIRD FFS.

If only one woman in a thousand was ever raped, you'd have a point. But rape is way more common than that, so you don't.

TheAlternativeTentacle · 06/09/2019 19:35

Kark, did you answer my question, I went to the allotment and missed a bit.
Would you put a rapist into a female prison with women and children, if they declared they were a woman?

Karkasaurus · 06/09/2019 19:38

I'm not getting into that discussion. We're talking about taxis here. If you want to get opinions on that subject, start another thread.

BernardBlacksWineIceLolly · 06/09/2019 19:39

Karkasaurus, I'm sorry to have upset you with my snarkiness

but really, in the case of bd67th 's post you were taking offence where absolutely none had been given - I suggest you read it again

save your offence for sarky old cows like me Smile

bd67th · 06/09/2019 19:39

Oh well as long as your sexual assault was worse than mine, I suppose mine is nothing to complain about then

Where did I say that? I did not say that anywhere. I described the differing escalation levels available to the sexes because of their biology and you are wilfully misrepresenting what I have said and you are swearing at Bernard when she corrects you.

You are not debating in good faith. Debate in good faith or go do something else.

Karkasaurus · 06/09/2019 19:42

Excuse me both. It's a subject that I am a bit touchy about.

RosesAndRaindrops · 06/09/2019 19:44

Can see why Kark is upset, when on the thread it's said women don't attack others. It's literally been said, it's not a comprension fail when it's in black and white here - how the fuck can you not see it could come across as minimising to someone who is telling you that yes, actually, it does?
It's awful..
FFS. some views on here are vile.

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 06/09/2019 19:48

"Women don't attack others"

Is that was was said though? Or was it more that, out of every 100 attacks on a woman, roughly 99 of them will be perpetrated by men, so women should focus preventative efforts accordingly.

That is very very different to saying women don't attack others.

Jelly juggle rose 😂😂

Wurzelsnewhead · 06/09/2019 19:55

Why all the fucks when you are ‘debating’ with women about sexual assault.
Why do you think it acceptable to come on here and tell someone to ‘get fucked’ in relation to sexual assault? Revolting.

Karkasaurus · 06/09/2019 19:59

Because I've been sexually assaulted and I don't appreciate being told it's not as bad as being raped. Or words that appear to convey that message. If that wasn't the intention, I apologise. Like I say, I'm quite touchy about it.

TheAlternativeTentacle · 06/09/2019 20:03

This discussion is about the threat of men to women in taxis. It doesn't mean we can only discuss taxis. If you are saying that trans women are no threat, then presumably something happens when they say 'i am a woman' that reduces the risk?
