Ah that one.

No I didn't think that was Bespin, I just thought out amusing how you reel out the same old stock phrases.

Really over the top reaction from you all though.....

ClosdesMouches · 04/08/2019 21:16

Toad :'We are not

No brigading to be seen here then
Hmm

KatvonHostileExtremist · 04/08/2019 21:16

The difference is that Kat twitter searched a certain phrase in an attempt to find Bespin’s twitter and post it to Mumsnet, essentially saying ‘look, here is the real life identity of this anonymous mumsnet user!’

PennysPocket · 04/08/2019 21:19

Totally missed that post help hence why I thought is was the one I mentioned.

It's an individuals responsibility to protect the self on line. The police do posters on it.

If someone is stupid enough to use the same username or give away all their personal information acroos multiple platforms then cry when people connect the dots..... I say that person is a professional victim and makes the self a victim on purpose.

Anyway for the 3rd time will someone please tell me WHAT THE ANTI TRANS MESSAGES WERE ON THE SIGNS AT LEEDS Prides. Thank you 😁

Well, there’s the opening for the testerical manufactured outrage and there, I guess, goes the hope of this thread staying on topic...‘‘twas ever thus.

FloralBunting · 04/08/2019 21:23

Penny as Early is at pains to tirelessly repeat, the 'anti trans' messages were lesbians insisting they are same sex attracted. It's anti trans to point this out because, as she said, lesbians shouldn't be forced to accept dicks, but they should expect to be intimidated at Pride if they say so publicly.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 04/08/2019 21:26

Ha penny sorry for messing up your question. I'm imagining it was something "awful" like the dictionary definition of a lesbian.

And help (I won't @ you, because it's rude, which you'd know if you hadn't just appeared on this forum), you can search twitter for phrases?! Seriously. You guys are such a bunch of techy geeks. I'm impressed!

Bespin · 04/08/2019 21:30

just quickly on two occasions recently people have linked directly to my twitter account which is against the rules on here. I use the user name as its the name of my first cat who I am very fond of, I am proud of who I am but I don't want people piling on to my account thanks.

PennysPocket · 04/08/2019 21:30

Sorry Floral I may be having a thick day but I still don't know what the anti trans signs said?

What did the signs say?
Why were they anti trans?

Anyone able to answer these 2 questions?
Maybe Bespin or Early?

FloralBunting · 04/08/2019 21:31

Lol, Kat didn't link to Bespin's Twitter. She screenshotted the phrase of the thread referencing 8 protestors, which Bespin is repeating with such unbridled glee, which appears to be the hurhurhur common, inexplicable put down these imaginative types are wheeling out as a verbal tic.

Frankly I'm not really sure why "Hardly any lesbians are brave enough to stand up to bullies telling them to take dick or shut up about it!" is a killer argument in the human rights struggle, but there you go.

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 04/08/2019 21:31

Early/ Bespin

It was a small group of protesters just like these (Get the L out, last yr London Pride) that woke me up to this - and specifically the way that they were demonised by the media and by the crowd around them.

At first, I didn't see it, I skimmed past it in the Guardian and just assumed their view was right and some group was kicking up about something. Then I heard about it somewhere else realised what the protest was and it completely blew my mind. What blew my mind most was not just what is happening but that it was being completely sidelined/ hidden by 'my' left wing media.

I've always been intuitive feminist but I kind of thought things were getting better and it was just a case of waiting for change to work its way through the system (my daughter's generation perhaps?).

That tiny protest though changed my life. I realised both how wrong I was and worse, that if things continue on the current trajectory my daughter's generation will have it significantly worse than mine. I decided then that feminism was my 'hill' above all else.

All that from a few lesbians standing around in t-shirts with placards being jeered.

Maybe I'm the only one that had reaction to demonisation of the 'Get the L out' protesters/ similar. But, I doubt it. The atmosphere in the room at the last Women's Place meeting was palatable. I'd bet every other woman there was feeling just like me.

cwg1 · 04/08/2019 21:31

I've not seen the banners in Leeds, but the ones at other Prides have said 'lesbians don't have penises' and 'lesbians = female homosexuals'.
The trans lobby see these as bigoted Confused

Bespin · 04/08/2019 21:32

sorry the signs are on the video I beleave.

RJFirth · 04/08/2019 21:33

Twitter for some reason goes to great pains to hide the advanced search.

Stop conflating women with bigots.

Wishihad · 04/08/2019 21:34

Ah so it's back to the 'if you wont have sex with a penis, if the penis owner is trans, your are transphobic'.

How the fuck can anyone not be ok, with women pointing that out. There were plenty of 'trans rights' protesters at pride today. why cant lesibians point out what it means?

Not sure if bespin was actually there, in leeds, and if she has been there over the last 5 years.

Honestly, I won't be going again. Neither will my and lesibian friends who I go with every year and I wouldnt take my kids either.

Last year a male friend (straight) was sexually assault by 2 transwomen. When he told one he wasnt interested, they called him a bigot. Apparantly, lesibians and men are obliged to shag trans women.

He told the other I was his girlfriend. That one got arsey with me, until I told him unequivocally to that I felt threatened by their behaviour and if they didnt back off I would end up feeling I needed to defend myself physically. And then call the police.

They called me a bitch and walked off.

This year felt quite intimidating and more about fetishes than anything else.

Oddly the local news only interviewed gay men and one female child for their piece on how great prode was today. But no women.

PennysPocket · 04/08/2019 21:37

sorry the signs are on the video I beleave.

No good to me on an aciant ipad which takes 20minutes to play anything.

What did the signs say that was anti trans .Bespin as you stated they were earlier? At least I think it was you I could be mistaken.

Bespin · 04/08/2019 21:40

PennysPocket

sorry not me.

SophoclesTheFox · 04/08/2019 21:40

Keep saying it was only 8 women.

Keep believing that.

Keep saying Mumsnet isn’t representative.

Keep believing that.

I will just observe that in my long and sometimes very shark infested working life, I have found the greatest pleasure and the easiest wins come my way when people, particularly men, under estimate me.

Life lessons from being old are fucking brilliant Grin

FloralBunting · 04/08/2019 21:43

Yes, I'd quite enjoy reading an explanation of why lesbian = female homosexual is an anti trans sentiment. I suspect Bespin will say "Oo, look, a squirrel!" and scarper rather than explain why, but you never know. According to Early earlier in the thread, it's confrontational and unnecessary at Pride where lesbians ho object to being told to take dick should be quiet for the sake of the quarter of people there who are trans.

Earlywalker · 04/08/2019 21:43

I didn’t say they should expect to be intimidated but if you’re going to go to an event that celebrates LGB and T with an obvious attempt to state you do not accept the T why are you so shocked that people were not welcoming?

Is it a genuine ‘those LGBT folk were so mean to the 8 lesbains so they must all hate woman and they want the L out’

Or is it just a little bit of propaganda to push your victim status that little bit further to those already in too deep to take a step back and assess?

Because I am neither T, nor L. I’m not a TRA or a radfem and agree and disagree with both sides on different points but from where I’m looking, it seems a bit illogical to call this shocking behaviour towards lesbians Given what is actually going on.
