I was chatting to a young lesbian couple (18, together since 15) at a gathering the other day.
They were describing the homophobia they get re men constantly asking questions. And then that people always ask "do you like boys too."
And that bisexual peers received much more abuse as everyone thinks being bi is basically another word for promiscuity.
It seems to me that no one is respectful of women saying they are only attracted to women. "Bigoted homosexual" said to lesbians is simply put, you aren't attracted to males so you are a bigot. You must be bi. You must be available for all.
Age old misogyny as well as objectification of women as sheaths for penises.
They were also saying, interestingly, that around a third of the girls in their school were lesbians. Only a few boys were gay, due to the difficulties around toxic masculinity and coming out. In a way it was refreshing to hear their school experience was so positive for lesbians. Knowing the kid of parents and teachers living around there though I'm not surprised. A shame the boys still find it hard to come out though.
