Thoughtful insights into how some women get drawn into the wrong side of the debate.

The chance of me doing this is a BIG FAT ZERO.

I really don't care how much of an arsehole I think some women are, I will still fight for their sex-based rights and for freedom for all women from patriarchy.

The question is though what rights are you fighting for?

Are they the rights that you think they should have? Eg we've had threads in the past where women are criticised for liking make up, getting their hair done, shaving their legs because the view of some posters was that was pandering to the patriarchy. That women didn't really want to do any of that, couldn't be doing it for their own pleasure but were only doing it to pander to men. Or, as is being discussed on a thread currently, that women who marry men or have children are letting feminism down?

So, would you fight for women to have freedom to make their own choices or are you fighting for women to move from being controlled (in your view) by the patriarchy to being controlled by some branches of feminism?

Datun yep, totally seeing your point and your wisdom as always. I think I'll take your advice. gin

Sorry, did I say posters like these? I meant these posters.

Endofthedays · 31/07/2019 22:45

Rose, there are posters on here who make bizarre posts and basically get ignored for it. You’re not being ignored - you’re being engaged with, which suggests that rather than trying to shut you up, people are actually interested in talking to you.

You have asked questions and I’ve answered them. I answered your cow bag question. And you didn’t respond. You just kept going after Datun.

But why? She didn’t make the post. Why do you keep making this one poster accountable for things she hadn’t said?

Alternatively, do you just want every single poster to say that they think cowbags was wrong? Because that’s going to take a long time.

Still struggling to see your point Decomposing. Women have the right to dress how they want and to marry. It's already been agreed not all women are alike or agree on everything.

It's not really about what women are. It's about what the patriarchy is, which isn't women.

Composers, I don’t think anyone on here is some kind of extreme libertarian, so like the rest of society we’re going to believe should have the right to do some things but not others.

littlbrowndog · 31/07/2019 22:47

Not sure if this is the thread for that sort of questions as I think we are answering the op rather than your question which could be a thread o; it’s own.
And perhaps the answers on this thread have been reactive if that is correct way to use i5

Yeah sorry bout that. I hope it doesn't give you nightmares.

Sorry Neuro Grin

In my defence the sock wiggly thing was much worse.

TinselAngel · 31/07/2019 22:52

So, would you fight for women to have freedom to make their own choices

This is usually about "sex work" isn't it?

NeurotrashWarrior · 31/07/2019 22:52

So, would you fight for women to have freedom to make their own choices or are you fighting for women to move from being controlled (in your view) by the patriarchy to being controlled by some branches of feminism?

People are free to make their own choices except that we must remember that choices aren't always binary black and white things - coercion, manipulation, poverty, abuse, brain washing can all impact and frame choices as 'free' choices.

That's why it's important to clearly define sex based rights for (biological) women in law.

NeurotrashWarrior · 31/07/2019 22:55

I wear make up.

Nothing to do with the law.

Datun · 31/07/2019 22:55

You have asked questions and I’ve answered them. I answered your cow bag question. And you didn’t respond. You just kept going after Datun.

Honestly *, i don't mind. Attempts to get me banned are risible, often quite funny, completely ineffective, and, can be utterly ignored, by me, and everyone else.

Doyoumind · 31/07/2019 22:56

Perhaps Roses, Decomposing et al would like to start their own thread (doesn't need to even be on this board) to discuss their own thoughts on feminism and relevant and pertinent topics.

OP posts:
OldCrone · 31/07/2019 22:57

You don't want to score the own goal by having to admit that actually it is misogynistic to call women cow bag bitches, regardless of what side of the argument they are on.

It is certainly unpleasant, abusive, offensive...but I'm not sure if it is misogynistic, since my understanding is that for it to be misogynistic she would have had to have said those things about the other women because she is a woman. I think she said it because she disagreed with her, and she would have used similarly offensive terms (but perhaps not the exact same words) about a man who said the same things.

Can we move on now?

DecomposingComposers · 31/07/2019 22:58

Decomp I think it's a terrible shame that with all the shit that women globally face, that you choose to talk about fucking make up. Give your head a wobble. Use your brain.

But it's not about make up - it's about women thinking that they have the right to criticise other women for what they wear, how they look, who they choose to have relationships with, what opinions they hold. Surely that's just replacing patriarchy with matriarchy, no?

And being against women marrying men and having children is apparently a branch of radical feminism (is it called separatism?) It's currently being discussed on another thread.

So, it clearly depends on which particular form of feminism you follow as to how you will judge other women.

Cohle · 31/07/2019 22:59

Why should they have to use a different board? This is the FWR board not the GC board. (Not that you can tell most of the time).

NeurotrashWarrior · 31/07/2019 23:00

Nowt to do with judgement.

Defining woman in law so they're protected by law as a sex class.

Doyoumind · 31/07/2019 23:01

Are you searching for a utopia where everyone agrees with each other and plays nicely, Decomposing? Be realistic. Your arguments make no sense.
