My very serious concerns about Jo Swinson

I am so very disappointed, but unsurprised, that Swinson is the new leader of the main political party to oppose Brexit.

If anyone had asked me for my worst nightmare re the new leader of the libdems it would be that someone who is enamoured of the concepts of "positive thinking", "wellness", "happiness" and other key themes promoted by cults involved in the human potential movement

This has now happened.

What most people do not realise is that the human potential movement, from which spring various ideas around positivity and “magical voluntarism” (you can be whoever you imagine yourself to be), is rooted in the birthplace of the Human Potential movement, Esalen, a hippy enclave where a melting pot of sinister Buddhist cults, neo-tantric sex cults, pseudo-Sufi cults, LGATs and psychotherapy cults join to create all manner of batshit concepts and ideas that are prevalent in today's society.

I actually don't think you can specifically blame jo swinson. The lib dems believe in legalising prostitution, fighting age restrictions on porn ,etc. They are misogynistic in many areas not just relating to the trans debate. This is who they are. Jo, I'm a long-standing LD member. This unquestioning enthusiasm for an anti-science ideology which harms women and children is not the way to correct past mistakes. Electing a fundamentalist Christian as leader was a mistake, but you're just carrying on the same path with a different name.
LibDems are supposed to be the evidence-based, progressive alternative. Please drop this regressive 1950s style gender politics, it should have no place in 21st century society.

Can't wait for a general election to be announced.

She has had plenty of time to understand the issues but has chosen to go full on TWAW route. Gloves off time. I have bided my time hoping that they would come to their senses but since they haven't I have decided to speak up on the issue. Since yesterday I have spoken to three friends who are LD voters and none of them will be voting for them now. They were easy targets, all have daughters. But I have a list and I'll go through it. And I'll make people aware of their stance at every opportunity. BTW not one of them thought I was being bigoted. The sports issue really is a great way in. Good riddance Lib Dems, you had a golden opportunity but you have blown it.

It's not a leadership issue, doesn't matter if your leader is Tim Farron or Jo, it's a lib dem approach to women. No critical thinking, no class analysis.

It is a leadership issue in the sense that having a leader who believes that gay sex is a sin was bad for the party's image. They are now behind self-id thinking that it will win back progressive voters, but they're just lurching from one regressive extreme to another - from homophobia to a deeply sexist ideology (and hidden homophobia).

It's 2019, political parties should be able to support women's rights without extensive class analysis. This is really basic stuff!

This thread makes me sad.
At a time when we should be celebrating a woman's success in becoming a political leader, instead we snipe from the sidelines.
I don't pretend to know her views on everything but from what I have read she has worked very hard to achieve it and I would cheer on a fellow woman in a difficult political world.
If her opinions are ill conceived or you believe them wrong then challenge them and write to her directly to openly debate them. Speaking to someone is the best way to question their and your views.
Maybe then progress can be made
