So Jo Swinson has been elected new Lib Dem leader.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-49076118

This is a woman who is happy to play to the crowd and spout shit about TWAW.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3642634-ffs-libdems-totally-lost-cause?pg=2

Here we go again...

Hey Jo - how can you protect and uphold women's hard-won sex-base rights if you think that men are women?

Jeez. I really thought we had covered this shit back in the 70s...

If a woman holds badly thought through sexist views then it’s ok to point it out pepsirolla

Equality innit?

pepsirolla · 23/07/2019 12:45

Of course sexist views should be challenged, directly, and maybe then they can be changed

VickyEadie · 23/07/2019 12:47

Indeed.

I remain unconvinced that Thatcher was a great woman to have been the first leader of a party & PM, given that she threw several members of my family out of work (my father for the rest of his working life, which was another 13 years), destroyed whole communities and enacted legislation which has, in my opinion, led to a wide range of problems for the UK.

Swinson might be a woman, but she ain't no sister. And the shite she parrots on trans issues (saying that TW have no advantage over women in sport is astonishingly wrong) makes me incandescent with rage.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 23/07/2019 12:47

Great, give me Jo’s number and I’ll give her a ring after I’ve picked up the kids

Or, I’ll just keep talking about it here

EverylittleAlps · 23/07/2019 12:50

We should have Swinson on mumsnet for a webchat

Unlikely I fear:

@BernardBlacksWineIcelolly

Where are you pulling 12 million registered uk voters from?! That’s 25% of the electorate, on here....really?! You honestly think 1 in 4 people you pass in the street are registered?!

Mumsnet themselves claim 903000 registered users, and that’s globally and many of them don’t even log on.

I’m not denying it’s of interest to the politicians, otherwise they wouldn’t do the webchats. But if you think they will be on here dancing to your agenda for votes that’s very naive. They are just ticking a box by appearing to care.

Apollo440 · 23/07/2019 12:55

peosirola you really think we haven't been trying to debate these issues?! Are you aware of the assaults, targetting venues, doxxing every time we try? Like the Greens and Labour the LibDems have not shown the slightest inclination to condemn the silencing of women or shown any interest in discussing the subject other than to scream bigot at anyone who has questions (and telling them to leave the party if they won't sign up for TWAW). Considering that most here would have been natural allies they themselves are to blame for creating the active hostility. They can reap what they sowed. I will simply be drawing people's attention to their own policies. Whose fault is it if it costs them votes?

This thread makes me sad.

Women being thrown under the bus by politicians trying to look ultra-inclusive makes me sad.

But if you think they will be on here dancing to your agenda for votes that’s very naive.

It's 'an agenda' when women want to protect their sex-based rights? Okey dokey.

JackyHolyoake · 23/07/2019 12:59

What is so effing annoying about all these damned politicians is that they are all so dishonest!

How can any of them have any credibility on any political issue?

They are lying about transgenderist ideology so what else are they lying about?

Each and every one of them knows what is a woman and what is a man. Not one of them believes it is physically possible to change sex.

So why can't even one of them just be bloody honest and say so.

birdsdestiny · 23/07/2019 13:00

And again it's not a leadership issue it's who the lib dems are. Prostitution, porn, it's all stems from the same ideology. Yes it's basic stuff but the lib dems have shown time and time again their disregard for women. The lib dem members on here never ever engage in the issues that run right through the party.

TurboTeddy · 23/07/2019 13:01

Why would I support a politician just because she's a woman? That's worse than asking me to sit down and shut up whilst they throw women under the bus, it's more like asking me to throw myself under the bus.

Until now I've been a life long lib dem voter, not anymore.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 23/07/2019 13:03

Yes sorry Usernumbers1234
That figure was bonkers! Should be 12 million unique hits per month

Whole lot of traffic, very influential

I know I’ve certainly bought a lot of stuff due to MN

pepsirolla · 23/07/2019 13:03

Apollo440
I am aware and in agreeance.
I was just sad about the usual only negative comments about a woman who has achieved something.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 23/07/2019 13:05

Grin pepsirolla, are you really suggesting I call up Jo for a chat? Because that’s really weird

pepsirolla · 23/07/2019 13:09

Plus I would never vote for someone just because female.
Look what happened last time Hmm
Just happy that a woman has got somewhere where she could make a difference which is why anyone who wants to question and debate her views should do so with her, then maybe change can happen.

JackyHolyoake · 23/07/2019 13:10

At a time when we should be celebrating a woman's success in becoming a political leader, instead we snipe from the sidelines.

Define woman!

pepsirolla · 23/07/2019 13:13

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly

Maybe an email, or direct her to this threadWink
I'm playing devils advocate a bit today methinks
Not usually post like this but as an old 70/80s feminist I'm just feeling a bit tired and as mentioned sad, off for someCake

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 23/07/2019 13:16

Enjoy your Cake pepsi

TheBigBallOfOil · 23/07/2019 13:17

I love the reference in that tweet to “horribly framed questions.” I think I know what he means.
“How was your exam darling?”
“Bad. Lots of horribly framed questions.”

pepsirolla · 23/07/2019 13:17

The success of every woman should be the inspiration to another. We should raise each other up. Make sure you’re very strong, be extremely kind, and above all, be humble.

"Swinson says Johnson 'isn't fit' to be PM."

Neither are you Swinson ... neither are you!

pepsirolla · 23/07/2019 13:18

cheers bernard

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 23/07/2019 13:18

I’m unconvinced that being humble got Serena Williams to where she is now!
