OJ is in a tricky spot.

Normally he'd be straight on to denouncing wrongdoing against a gay man. He was very swift to denounce all those who said that rubberman wanking in the toilets at the NSPCC and uploading it to porn sites is perhaps a safeguarding concern.

But. The perpetrator of this latest wrongdoing is a man. In the Labour party. Which we all know is the bastion of righteousness as far as OJ is concerned.

They interviewed Rohit Dasgupta, and rehashed the twitter thread - of course excising any mention of Dasgupta's alleged misogyny/TERFsaying or of people's questions/comments comparing the situation to the issues with the Women's Officer positions.

Dasgupta allegedly "felt like some colleagues in the Labour party was (sic) critical of his views on education". He and his allies seem to be seems to be claiming the person who beat him (still unnamed) may have been working with anti-RSE protesters, but GayStar says they found no evidence of this. They've invited the person to comment.

Dasgupta DOES say he was suspicious of his opponent since that person had only recently been part of Labour LGBTQIA+ groups, and he wanted to know the person's sexuality/identity but of course it was wrong to ask. But apparently someone else DID ask, and "He allegedly responded: ‘This isn’t about LGBT, this is about everything being inclusive.’ "

So - Dasgupta presumably does NOT know that this person is "str8".

The winner may just be identifying as LGBT. After all, if it's OK for a male teenager to serve as Women's Officer because they identify as a woman, then surely it's fine for LGBT Officer to identify as being LGBT. Expecting him to actually be LGBT is so last year.

And, coming at it from another angle, if this het man says he's a lesbian he's immediately not just LGBT but he can stay with his current female partner too.

I can understand LOJ's radio silence. It's a dilemma for him. Does he side with the BME LGBT male (maximum points!)? I'm sure he wants to. But he would then have to admit that Self-ID can be and is being used by those who may not actually identify as they say they do. That people LIE. And that would be contradicting everything he's claimed for Self-ID to date.
