Sexnotgender

BeansandRice · 28/06/2019 09:40

I think it's pretty shit that a straight man (and apparently homophobic) has been elected LGB Officer. But given the total crap over the T of that acronym, one might just go
We told you so.

And note that when it's men's rights, well, people jump to attention ...

BeansandRice · 28/06/2019 09:41

And Popchyk - top post Grin

Floisme · 28/06/2019 09:42

I'm trying really hard to think up a caustic one liner. But I'm too busy laughing. Bad me.

DancingRaven · 28/06/2019 09:42

Not much to add other than hahahahahahahahahahhaha

Popchyk · 28/06/2019 09:44

The successful candidate did not mention anything about his gay, lesbian, bi or trans identity.

He may well identify as gender-free or some such, which is recognised under the trans umbrella.

And therefore qualifies as a candidate. For who is anyone to question his gender identity? Or lack thereof. I AM WHO I SAY I AM - that's what the risible left were peddling just this week. Certainly hope that they are not questioning this guy's innate identity. Because that is transphobia right there.

Anyway, wonder what was actually behind this coup? It's Labour, so it certainly isn't someone who wants to draw attention to the plight of women in the party. As if.

Sounds like a power grab by a hard left faction.

eurochick · 28/06/2019 09:45

@ItsAllGoingToBeFine - that tweet😮

The lack of self awareness is astonishing.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 28/06/2019 09:47

Popchyk I LOVE the responses on that Twitter thread! Although still amazed at how that labour officer was allowed to get away with that comment.

Oooh yes LOJ must still be chocking on his morning mocha and I bet Dr Haddock must be combusting somewhere.

Karma is indeed a bitch. Of the adult female variety.

LangCleg · 28/06/2019 09:50

I, for one, cannot wait for the Sanctimonious Morph to weigh in.

Agree that Rohit should be nicer and not pressure oppressed straight people into distress, self harm, and even worse.

Also:

ACCEPTANCE WITHOUT EXCEPTION

A rule to live by, Rohit, a rule to live by.

LangCleg · 28/06/2019 09:51

Oh and...

... what was that about having Cake and eating it?

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 28/06/2019 09:53

I know schadenfreude is very tempting here

but this organisation was built with the money and time of working people, to provide political representation for working people. to offset the privileged few getting exclusive access to political representation by dint of the resources at their disposal

I can't even begin to express how disappointed I am in how decadent they've become. now when we need them more that ever

Sad Sad Sad

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 28/06/2019 09:53

Straight people are humans too

I can't believe Rohit is denying the existence of straight people.
We just want to politic in peace.

Redshoeblueshoe · 28/06/2019 09:55

When LOJ explodes all over Twitter can someone post it on here

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 28/06/2019 09:58

I agree that a straight man isn't the best choice for this position. But I'm actually enjoying watching the outrage and the hypocrisy explode after it was totally ok for labour to shaft women to indulge a adult human male called Madigan whilst gaining woke points.

So zero sympathy or fucks from me dude. Yes Lang, acceptance without exception. Hurts, doesn't it?

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 28/06/2019 09:58

Red I actually think you may physically hear it happen.

EweSurname · 28/06/2019 09:59

He's just widening the bandwidth of what it means to be gay! How bigoted of Rohit to not acknowledge his own cis LGBT+ privilege in the face of this poor person's trans-LGBT oppression

BeansandRice · 28/06/2019 09:59

I now that schadenfreude is indeed a delightful feeling. BUt is this an opportunity to make allies here? To point out to Rohit that this is how 50% of the population is being disciplined & coerced?

Yes, yes, I know - my niceness is showing ...

ZebrasAreBras · 28/06/2019 10:00

Well, boys, now you know how we feel. Not nice is it?

When you added the T to the LGB, and the Q and the rest of the alphabet soup - you brought straight people under the LGBT umbrella. Everyone wants a slice of the rainbow pie now Wink

I notice everyone's outraged of his behalf - where was the outrage when women's political positions were being taken?

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 28/06/2019 10:00

The whole thing has an almost unreal, dream like feel to it Confused

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 28/06/2019 10:01

Beans maybe but there's an assumption that him and his friends give a shit about women. I would love to be proved wrong though.

Popchyk · 28/06/2019 10:03

This is the Labour Party right now.

Sideshow Bob stepping on rakes every way he turns.

SpinsterOfArts · 28/06/2019 10:03

Rohit complains that this person doesn't mention 'how he self-identifies' in his statement twitter.com/RKDasgupta/status/1144372249543286784

How does Rohit know that he's straight, then? Or, indeed, a man? He could be a queer non-binary person for all Rohit knows. Or a lesbian. All he has to do is say the words, after all...

LangCleg · 28/06/2019 10:04

but this organisation was built with the money and time of working people, to provide political representation for working people. to offset the privileged few getting exclusive access to political representation by dint of the resources at their disposal

Yes.

But let me have the schadenfreude! It's the only thing keeping me sane!

OvaHere · 28/06/2019 10:05

Zero sympathy. I would have cared about this at one time but now...nah!

All those pontificating about how terrible this is will be the same people that hound women and call us names for objecting to men being elected into women's positions.

Have they even asked this man how he identifies?

TanquerayTickles · 28/06/2019 10:06

First they came for the women...Wink
