J K Rowling now follows Magdalen Berns on Twitter!

This is amazing. Rowling is one of the only people that could end this madness easily.

I'm sitting chuckling to myself remembering a conversation from earlier today.

Purple haired, Harry Potter mad DD is sitting in the passenger seat scrolling through her phone "It's looks like JK Rowling is a fucking TERF"

Me "why"

Her: "She's following (whoever) on Twitter"

Me "giggles, that's brilliant"

Me " it's a pity I still hate her for her pro unionist antics during the independence referendum, I don't care if she is a TERF I can't forgive her for that"

It will be interesting to see how this develops. Lots of her die hard fans will be like my DD and grew up with Harry Potter and be raging at her right now, mind you many more will be nodding in agreement. I think if she believes in something she will stand by her beliefs (see Indyref 2014 for details)

(and my blue haired, formerly non binary, ultrawoke DD regularly tells me I'm a TERF who needs to get off Mumsnet! We have also had some interesting discussions on the Gender Recognition Bill lately)

Hermione isn't meant to be beautiful but she's not un-pretty either. She had big front teeth until she sneakily got madam pomfrey to shrink them, and bushy hair, but that's it.

JKR has said that all the characters were cast too pretty, and that she wrote them as awkward, odd looking kids. But that's film for you!

Pansy Parkinson was played by a very pretty actress in the later films. And Narcissa is described as very beautiful, yet definitely a baddy!

She is following Julie Bindel now Grin

Pansey (the slythrin girl), bellatrix and unbridge are bad and ugly.

Both Bellatrix and Syrius have their former great good looks referenced a few times. With both cases it’s explained that Askaban has robbed them of their beauty, not their respective moral choices.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 25/06/2019 08:51

How do they get away with calling women "filth"

Well I'm sure that balanced and convincing argument will help JK to realise the error of her ways.

Following Julie Bindel is a marvellous middle finger to the bullies.

You can't touch her, you know, and bullying and harassing her is making the grown ups notice.

HandsOffMyRights · 25/06/2019 09:25

If you need a chuckle, then read this:

Oh! The privilege! Grin

LizzieSiddal · 25/06/2019 09:34

Oh gosh, this is getting better and better.

ILiketheNiceCereal · 25/06/2019 09:35

You reckon she's reading this thread? Hi JK! Welcome to reality, but batten down the hatches because this will get bumpy.

Whyrmengreattiltheygottabgreat · 25/06/2019 09:38

Oh bless her, so earnest Grin

Well, it just goes to show you can always love JK Rowling a little bit more.... (her following Julie Bindel)

I also love how outspoken she's been about remaining a domiciled taxpayer and not avoiding taxes.

A wonderful, talented, strong, principled woman. Brilliant books too Smile.

Manderleyagain · 25/06/2019 09:46

It's weird how 'gatekeeping' is being cast as a baddie (in the chucklesome twitter thread above and everywhere trans advocates talk about this). Now I'm a middle aged woman with kids it's obvs to me that gatekeeping is good (often anyway).

Does twitter show follows in the order that the person followed them, Eg most recent at the top?

dolorsit · 25/06/2019 09:52

I'm wondering if anyone has pointed out that it is pointless following any TRAS accounts as you get put onto a block list purely for following any one they disagree with.

DuMondeB · 25/06/2019 09:53

...

J K Rowling
HandsOffMyRights · 25/06/2019 10:00

It's a classic thread...

Yes Manderley, it does show the order and we can see JK has followed three GC people consecutively over the past day.

truthisarevolutionaryact · 25/06/2019 10:07

Good for her - it's the perfect way to stand up to the twitter bullies and thought police - no discussion. The 14th rule of misogyny applies here I think:

Women have all the rights they need: The right to remain silent

Ereshkigal · 25/06/2019 10:20

That's not a good reason for placing Soros and OSF above criticism. That would be extremely dangerous. Nobody and no organisation should be above criticism.

I don't know what kind of pro-trans groups his Open Society Foundation has funded ...

Here you go, it's a long read but very good:

This. I think there are plenty of reasons to look at what Soros is doing. It isn't always about anti semitism. Soros is one of the richest men on earth who has been one of the largest funders pushing the trans ideology.

HerFemaleness · 25/06/2019 10:51

J. K Rowling is J. K Rowling because she was told to disguise her sex as their is prejudice against books written by woman.

If you're shocked that a woman who had to do this doesn't buy in to your silly lady brain belief system then you're an idiot.

HerFemaleness · 25/06/2019 10:55

THERE, shitting autocorrect.

CassianAndor · 25/06/2019 11:00

I also doubt she would have sold anywhere like as many books if her protagonist had been Hermione, rather than Harry.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 25/06/2019 11:03

I assume Magdalen Berns still lives in Edinburgh. JKR lives in or near Edinburgh. Is it possible they've met? I wondered if the assault on Julie Bindel, also in Edinburgh, had made it into the Scotsman or the Herald or another Scottish paper JKR might see. Delighted to see this, anyway. About time people started telling the Woke Stasi where to go with their policing of other people's choices about who to follow and which tweets to like.

Serendipiteedee · 25/06/2019 11:08

Read more closely. "pretty or clever" First, that's not at all accurate, second, you'd rather she wrote ugly, stupid women? There's nothing in her writing that support Madonna/Whore. In fact, looking at Ginny, it's the exact opposite.

Oncewasblueandyellowtwo · 25/06/2019 11:09

Anyone know which Harry Potter app is the best one to install?
