She is having a really tough time on Twitter. Someone has also leaked a chat between some supportive MSPs. She is doing so much for us here in Scotland.

If anyone is reading this and thinking, what can I do. Send her a card to the Scottish Parliament. Their offices are glass. Show other MSPs as they walk by that she has huge support.

Please. It must be so hard for her and she is asking all the right questions and doing all the right things. Thanks.

Thanks for that, Igneococcus. Pretty positive. I found:

£Rhiannon Spear, an SNP councillor and chairwoman of Tie, a campaign for LGBT-inclusive education, said Ms Murphy’s views were based on “scaremongering regarding gender-specific spaces”.*

Really weaselly. It's listening to someone who is perfectly happy with a certain number of women assaulted if it makes a group of men happy.

KatvonHostileExtremist · 07/05/2019 07:09

Loving the use of Balldemorte real name there!

Igneococcus · 07/05/2019 07:12

Yes, I thought that was good that the Times gets that story out into the public. Comments will be interesting.

TimeLady · 07/05/2019 08:14

The JY saga, as documented on kiwifarms, is now entering into the surreal world of beauty pageants. Perhaps that might explain the desire for nice smooth balls? Wink Grin

Genderfreelass · 07/05/2019 09:09

Another great article by the Times. Well done yet again Joan and Meghan 😊

Birdsfoottrefoil · 07/05/2019 09:22

Transwomen in beauty pagents? Wouldn’t that look more like a drag show?

TimeLady · 07/05/2019 20:29

Very supportive article about Joan in The Spectator by Stephen Daisley

blogs.spectator.co.uk/2019/05/an-snp-politicians-lonely-fight-in-the-gender-identity-debate/

An SNP politician’s lonely fight in the gender identity debate

Political speech is not harm. Disagreeing with an intolerant orthodoxy is not incitement. Saying that, yes, trans people have rights but women have rights too is not ‘phobic’. When you can only defend your ideology by making the other side disappear from the debate, you are engaged in discursive Stalinism. Joan McAlpine is a lonely warrior denied reinforcements by the demagoguery of her opponents. Those who secretly agree with her ought to join her in the trenches.

Thank you, Stephen.

Thanks for link TimeLady. I especially like the words ‘genderemie’ and ‘wokescold’ Grin

No need to 'educate on the realities of men' then?

bettybeans · 22/05/2019 18:59

Meghan Murphy is at the Scottish Parliament right now and some very kind attendees are tweeting. @TJVRD on Twitter or try the #MeghanSP or #MeghanMurphy hashtags.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 27/05/2019 21:33

McAlpine's been nominated for three awards by Holyrood Magazine, including 'MSP of the year'.

Yey!

boatyardblues · 28/05/2019 01:44

Go Joan!!

Afrojules · 11/06/2019 13:09

I didn’t want to start a new thread for this but seeing as it was Joan who we first sent cards to, I thought this is as good a place as any. Smile

The cards we’ve been sending to the MSPs and councillors have been really well received. They’re such a powerful visual to show how much we support those who’ve been representing us. So, I was hoping that we could send out some more.

Johann Lamont, Jenny Marra and Elaine Smith have all signed the motion to support the right of women to meet to discuss their rights peacefully so if anyone fancies joining me in sending them a card to say thanks, that would be brilliant. I know postage isn’t cheap but if anyone is able to, it might encourage some more women to speak up. Thank you Flowers

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 11/06/2019 13:31

That's a great idea Afrojules. There are now 26 names on the motion, which is amazing! You can see them here:

Afrojules · 11/06/2019 13:38

Thanks, Alice. I’ll have a look at that. I started another thread about the motion with a suggested message to send to people’s MSPs. If you get a chance, have a look and see what you think. Smile

Cismyfatarse1 · 11/06/2019 15:10

Absolutely - I have done Lewis Moonie, Joan McAlipine (twice) and Joanna Cherry. Great idea to do some others.

My speech today on the #census. I support asking a trans question but the separate sex question must be binary and biological to ensure accuracy of data, deliver of services, and monitoring of discrimination against women #countwomensowomencount

That's a great article from Joan.

Trans allies are still going the "no debate" route, I see.

Mbwashenzi · 13/06/2019 09:58

Brilliant speech and article by Joan. Not only cards but also flowers and chocolates are in order.
