She is having a really tough time on Twitter. Someone has also leaked a chat between some supportive MSPs. She is doing so much for us here in Scotland.

If anyone is reading this and thinking, what can I do. Send her a card to the Scottish Parliament. Their offices are glass. Show other MSPs as they walk by that she has huge support.

Please. It must be so hard for her and she is asking all the right questions and doing all the right things. Thanks.

If anyone has been in contact with other MSPs, it may be worth another email saying how much you admire the 15!

And perhaps we send the 15 cards too!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 24/04/2019 19:02

Like most women’s and feminist organisations the Scottish Greens unequivocally support women’s rights and trans rights, a position that was unanimously adopted by our conference last year.

I'm intrigued to know in what way the Greens support women's rights...

All just a ploy to attack the SNP leadership ahead of the party conference according to an SNP source:

KatvonHostileExtremist · 25/04/2019 06:50

They'll do anything to detract from the actual issue eh?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 25/04/2019 06:57

The source of those comments seems to be Mhairi Hunter - a quick view of her twitter will give some idea of her views around this.

Cismyfatarse1 · 25/04/2019 07:31

Please card people can you send some to the other signatories. It has made a huge difference.

I seem to be rationing my use of capitals...

youllhavehadyourtea · 25/04/2019 08:42

I will send cards.

I'm not articulate with words and arguments and don't have the Feminist Theory knowledge that others (amazing women) on this board do, but this is the sort of activism I can be part of.

Cismyfatarse1 · 25/04/2019 09:20

It would be really helpful if people could share this in their groups online. I know that some of us are members of feminist groups, or chat groups. If we can send a deluge of cards it will help to very visibly show support for those who have put their heads above the parapet.

Thanks all.

All done. And a bump ;-)

Cismyfatarse1 · 26/04/2019 12:49

Bumpety bumpety bump.

Also, they are getting a slagging today in the Scotsman so need our support.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 26/04/2019 14:07

they are getting a slagging today in the Scotsman

Is this the article that says ' “We would respectfully point out that UK legislation already uses sex and gender interchangeably as terms in law' - implying the discussion/argument is done and dusted.

  • but then goes on to say 'proposals for reform of gender recognition legislation do not propose to change the meaning of the terms male or female'.

And then, when pressed: 'Asked if he believes sex and gender are interchangeable, he said: “They are already conflated within a lot of legislation which has been unhelpful for vulnerable people. We need to iron out the mess. I don’t want to pre-empt that debate.” '

So - sex and gender are already the same thing in law, so no point in discussing it. And nothing meaningful's really going to change anyway, so no point discussing it. And last of all - there is a debate that needs to happen but we don't want to have it.

Three times he's burbling things that amount to 'please don't talk about it' - or am I misunderstanding?

Can anyone else make head or tail of what the man's saying, other than 'please don't upset the LGBTQI lot'?

"He added: “I have been under pressure to ask her to resign - from journalists - but I respect her as convener and will serve under her but she needs to advance with caution” "

Sounds like a threat to me. What a waffling twat.

ProbablyShouldntbut · 26/04/2019 14:35

All just a ploy to attack the SNP leadership ahead of the party conference according to an SNP source:

This was also the line that was being put out at the weekend - trying to frame this as a for /against Nicola thing. ie everyone must cheer for TWAWwoo because not to do so will damage her. That's not an argument you make if you are confident of your support or your case.

youllhavehadyourtea · 26/04/2019 14:45

What a waffling twat.

Alex Cole-Hamilton. Yes.
Self important pompous waffling twat.

MilletSentToForceIt · 26/04/2019 15:14

Right, that’s all of them written to. Not all the cards will be completely appropriate (pictures of bouquets of flowers etc) but needs must, and who am I to judge?

Off to the post office right now!

boatyardblues · 26/04/2019 16:24

I have also written to all the signatories. It occurred to me that it probably wouldn’t hurt to send the SNP MPs’ cards to their Westminster addresses, as a show of support there might give some fence-sitting MPs in other parties a nudge.

birdsdestiny · 26/04/2019 16:44

Card sent.

MilletSentToForceIt · 26/04/2019 17:12

boathardblues. Good idea to send to Westminster addresses. I will do that next week.

Please everyone, let’s get them sack loads of cards giving them support on this. It gets past their researchers, straight to the MPs SMPs etc and shows their colleagues the level of support.
