She is having a really tough time on Twitter. Someone has also leaked a chat between some supportive MSPs. She is doing so much for us here in Scotland.

If anyone is reading this and thinking, what can I do. Send her a card to the Scottish Parliament. Their offices are glass. Show other MSPs as they walk by that she has huge support.

Please. It must be so hard for her and she is asking all the right questions and doing all the right things. Thanks.

It’s seems unrelenting for Joan - why can’t her colleagues find the courage to speak up with a united voice? A real campaign to get her sacked.

TRAs are a powerful lobby but surely voters back Joan? Pressuring local members to stand with her is the only way I think

Somerville's statement comes at the same time as John Boyne's ordeal with trans activists over the publication of a novel designed to be sympathetic to the trans cause.

I think it's rather good that the newspapers have labelled her inept and ignorant statement as a call for trans rights to the public's sympathy and compassion. I don't believe that the public is so inclined on the basis of recent events.

Poor Shirley-Anne. Wrong side of history

Card sent!

PhrixPhrox · 19/04/2019 22:48

Thanks for the great idea!

Cards to be sent tomorrow, but ones that stand up rather than just postcards. You know, so they will look more obvious around the office and there should be a better chance of sourcing something particularly suitable... (not talking Easter Bunnies here).

One of her colleagues, Chris McEleny, had an article in The Herald today Basically saying the tone of debate and targeting of women was disgraceful and that women need to be heard on this issue. I don't know if he's had much abuse about it. I've not been on Twitter much today.

Awrite · 19/04/2019 23:29

Lilliths - not seen any abuse. Joanna Cherry liked it which is heartening.

LillithsFamiliar · 19/04/2019 23:31

It's sickening that it always needs men to make an issue or position valid Hmm but at least some of them are starting to put their heads possibly just their hair not as much as a full head above the parapet . . . eventually.

Cismyfatarse1 · 20/04/2019 10:01

I have seen this shared a couple of times now. Please could you share it some more.

I really think a sack load of visible support would help. Thanks

Susan Dalgety in Scotsman today

Meanwhile, I see Jordon is in cahoots with Angela Haggerty suggesting that more stuff may be leaked. He seems very proud of this immoral behaviour.

This is Shona Craven on witch hunts:

I think it needs saying more clearly that it’s not feminism that’s at risk, but women’s human rights. Some people hear the word feminism and tune out.

BrightonReSisters · 20/04/2019 12:48

@Badgerthebodger we've shared this with ReSisters United. Love the idea of these brave women receiving sack loads of supportive cards Smile

Cismyfatarse1 · 20/04/2019 12:55

Thanks @BrightonReSisters There has been a lot of sharing amongst Scottish networks but cards from Brighton etc (anywhere) would be fantastic.

Really appreciate this. Cards / stamps are not cheap but I think so help.

BrightonReSisters wonderful!! Hopefully she’ll receive a lovely deluge of gratitude and support Smile

KatvonHostileExtremist · 20/04/2019 17:11

That's a good article. It's heartening to see support for Joan from her colleagues!

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 20/04/2019 20:59

Have just sent a postcard the other end of UK - if nothing else hopefully it will help show how women across the UK are supporting her.

Is anyone on this thread overseas? Maybe postcards from elsewhere would help too, to show her how much reach the her stand she is making has.

I have so much respect for her

Badgerthebodger · 21/04/2019 00:23

Little bumpity bump, in case Sisters in other time zones are awake Smile

FleetsumNJetsum · 21/04/2019 00:33

card sent!

Candidpeel · 21/04/2019 01:36

Card sent today, and shared.

Joan is brilliant. The census committee talked about this issue like grown ups. It was the first time I'd seen any politicians do that.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 21/04/2019 08:29

Another good article, this time by Mandy Rhodes:

Cismyfatarse1 · 21/04/2019 08:42

Great article. Thanks

nettie434 · 21/04/2019 08:58

Will send a card to Joan. I like the article by Mandy Rhodes using the menopause as a way to show that, whether we like it or not, we can’t always obliterate our sex.

groundcontroltomontydon · 21/04/2019 21:41

Done! Great idea, opSmile
