Thanks for the fabulous clip of Kelly Holmes winning the 1500.

Kelly, Sharron, Martina, all your supporters - I salute you all.

MeAgainAgain · 08/03/2019 22:48

The clip is blocked for me :(

It says the ioc doesn't want me to watch it!

DeRigueurMortis · 08/03/2019 23:02

Make be the BBC has finally realised it's a waste of their listeners time to hear more from the Peddling Liar.

Bit of a shame though....RM has done a great job in undermining their own cause and also disputing their own thesis - because it's blatantly obvious you are talking bollocks (however forcefully you choose to ejaculate your output).

FermatsTheorem · 08/03/2019 23:05

Meagain - just click on the "watch on youtube" button, and it'll open youtube in a separate window and you can watch it there (or click on the blue link in the MN thead here rather than on the image itself). I think it's some sort of copyright thing so that they track use on youtube, rather than allowing it to be watched on 3rd party sites like MN.

MeAgainAgain · 08/03/2019 23:14

Thank you! Wow those women all ran really fast I'm always amazed when I watch any top athletes they seem super human.

Kelly was double amazing obv, what an incredible achievement.

Datun · 08/03/2019 23:32

Thank you for that clip of Kelly Amoregentlemanlikemanner.

I don't follow athletics, particularly, but that made my eyes smart.

The word is inspiring. It absolutely is.

Kelly, and athletes like her, inspire women and girls.

There is not a girl or woman on the planet who is inspired by an artificially weakened man.

Thanks Kelly.

MhairiV · 08/03/2019 23:46

The stress of being in the middle of a media storm (even a mini one) can't be underestimated. Especially when you're being labelled by pretty loud and aggressive voices as something that you're not, like a transphobe or a bigot. They might be retired sports women (and bonafide sheroes) but the implications for them personally and for their families are still so significant. The trans lobby has some powerful allies and some feeble enablers, and that's a potent combination.

The same goes for the feminists who are really putting themselves out there, putting themselves in the firing line, and doing a lot of the dirty work. The stuff that might make us gasp a little but that makes a difference and has impact.

These women are chipping away and they're making a huge difference.

I think what I'm trying to say is that I can't put into words just how astonished and proud I am of these women and it seems like a good day to mention and appreciate it. This takes guts. Cheers to you all.

Couldn't agree more.

SparkiePolastri · 09/03/2019 00:58

There is not a girl or woman on the planet who is inspired by an artificially weakened man.

Or a man, or a boy.

People like RMK will be inspiring to young trans people, but not in the way other sports stars are.

It's an uncomfortable truth that there are very few people who'd be genuinely jubilant at a transwoman's win.

Datun · 09/03/2019 08:34

I especially don't think any woman or girl will be inspired by an artificially weakened male, who demands they accept the definition of the word woman as a feeling in his head.

It's beyond outrageous.

DpWm · 09/03/2019 09:24

If RM won against the men I'd be overjoyed for her. Transwomen winning against men is reason to celebrate.

this footballer is an inspiration. Her first experience of discrimination was being sent home after trying out for the men's team. The coach didn't want the other footballers to feel uncomfortable. I believe she is still a success in the men's team.

Katvonfelttipeyebrows · 09/03/2019 10:15

Watching fantastic athletes like Kelly, Sharron and Paula, fill my heart with pride.

How dare McKinnon be so rude. I just find them infuriating

Vixxxy · 09/03/2019 12:22

I'm beginning to wonder whether RMcK is actually an extremely dedicated academic who is sacrificing all to a follow-up on their original thesis 'Why You Don't Need To Know What You're Talking About' by seeing how much crap they can spout and how obnoxiously they can behave and still have people believe them.

I have been thinking this for a while now.

Mind I also used to think LM was a Tory plant. And Muscato was actually a secret radfem trying to show up the nonsense. Some just come out with way too much bollocks for me to think they can possibly be real. So am not opposed to a bit of TRA conspiracy theory.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 09/03/2019 12:26

Performance Art maybe?

Vixxxy · 09/03/2019 12:51

Maybe. The behaviour and what RM says, I just cannot see it being genuine. Some TRAs come off as totally deluded, but I get the feeling McKinnon knows exactly what they are doing, knows they are wrong, and just pushes it anyway. For what reason..the only thing that makes sense is academia really, as they HAVE to have known that their bollocks would not be swallowed by the majority. I mean, its so well known the differences between male and female in sports that saying men do not have an advantage is like saying adults do not have an advantage on sports days and stuff. They knew, before all of this that it would not be accepted. Maybe it is an experiment to see quite how far you can push people. Rachel has gone in too hard and too fast if they genuinely believe what they say.

andyoldlabour · 09/03/2019 13:06

I sincerely believe that many of these TRA's have serious mental health issues, which means they lack any kind of empathy for others, enjoy inflicting mental and physical pain, demand absolute capitulation from others, remain in an echo chamber listening to others who share their views.
Because they have thus far been humoured by politicians and other groups who have been blinded by political correctness, they have now become more emboldened, so they now view themselves as an enity which is beyond being challenged.
Narcissism is blind.

MillytantForceit · 09/03/2019 13:38

Narcissism is blind.

Not strictly true.

Prince Narcissus was so in love with his own refelction that he bent over the river, fell in and drowned.

hipsterfun · 09/03/2019 13:45

Beautifully put.

Dhama · 12/03/2019 10:09

Does anyone know if iamspecialized have finished their investigation into this? I can't find a response to this further than their original idiotic response to RMK...

Ruru8thestars · 12/03/2019 10:11

I am interested in that too

MillytantForceit · 12/03/2019 10:12

It looks like they hope shuffling away from the scene innocently whistling will do the trick.

Ruru8thestars · 12/03/2019 10:23

Tbf they might manage it too

Usermynamenow · 12/03/2019 10:26

I’ll be interested in what the reply is from iamspecialized too.

I’ve sent them another email asking for a response.

I don’t even own a bike!

MillytantForceit · 12/03/2019 10:35

...And the NZ Chief Scientific Advisor who thinks there are more than two sexes?

No sign of any word there either.

JessicaWakefieldSVH · 12/03/2019 10:46

And the NZ Chief Scientific Advisor who thinks there are more than two sexes?

A couple of days later she was featured in a woman of NZ article on IWD
