No -

That post had some really dodgy commentary and as PP said, an agenda.

Not the right thing to do to let it slide at all.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 08/03/2019 10:50

The targeting of Dame Kelly is in the daily mail (sorry can’t do a link).

I see comic relief donated to her charity last year (and Allsorts).

comments quiet but usual mra saying why discriminate between men and women at all

Defenestrator · 08/03/2019 11:18

Comments are now at 199 on that article

Here’s a question.

So, to the male bodied person (who says they are a woman) hammering hard on the door to gain access to a woman only space.

How do they feel about sharing with men then if the rules changed to outlaw single sex spaces? No? Why not?

MeAgainAgain · 08/03/2019 12:10

I think the idea is that "cis" women and girls would need to form a barrier between the transwomen and the men.

Example as per "Burger" by Travis of the top shop changing rooms -

Someone threw a burger at him.
He lamented that not ONE WOMAN stepped in to defend him.
No mention of any men who could have done that.

Also see.
Transwomen asking for "cis" women to
Stand in front on them at protests to protect them
Donate to funds to pay for them to get cabs home after nights out as it's not safe for TW and they can't even imagine what that's like (!!!)

etc and so on

comments quiet ....

Then there's THIS guy. On THIS article. I can't even begin to fathom how he clicked this link, and even if he only read every third word, STILL thought this was a valid question to ask...

I feel a bit sorry that his rank stupidity is now stuck on the internet forever.

Oh Thomas...

Datun · 08/03/2019 14:32

I read that comment too and thought oh lord.

People are still not getting it.

Even when they read an article all about it, it's still not sinking in.

And I realise Thomas might be a little slow on the uptake, but there are lots of people who simply don't believe it. It's just impossible to them, that it could happen. So they're reading with one eye closed.

Still, hopefully, that is changing.

EcclesThePeacock · 08/03/2019 14:53

I had a look at that and the comments earlier... almost felt like signing up so I could point out that 'Dr' in this case doesn't mean what they may think.

MeAgainAgain · 08/03/2019 14:53

heh @ thomas what a dimboid Grin

GOOD POINT THOMAS YOU CLEVER MAN.

hackmum · 08/03/2019 15:51

I think Thomas's comment demonstrates exactly the problem we have. I have heard people who are not quite as au fait with trans politics as we are use the term "trans woman" to refer to a woman transitioning to male, and the term "trans man'" to refer to a man transitioning to female.

Thomas probably imagines that Rachel McKinnon is a woman who has been taking testosterone to transition to male, and that other female athletes are complaining about the unfairness of allowing McKinnon to continue to compete against women. He hasn't understood that McKinnon is a man identifying as female.

And you know what? I think this confusion is deliberate on the part of TRAs. That insistence on not "deadnaming", not "misgendering" is part of an intentional strategy to hide from the average unengaged person what is happening here.

MillytantForceit · 08/03/2019 16:13

Are Specialised still looking into the hole they've dug for themselves?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 08/03/2019 18:29

I can’t see it. Funnily enough I can’t see many replies to their tweets at all 🤔

MhairiV · 08/03/2019 22:00

And finally the BBC does something sensible. Away and find someone else who wants to debate that side of things but who isn't a colossal bully and misogynist please, Auntie.

FermatsTheorem · 08/03/2019 22:11

Ha ha, for some reason I've been thinking of Windsor Davis and "oh dear, how sad, NEVER MIND" in connection with some of the absurd displays of hurty feels, and lo and behold someone has turned it into a gif for me.

ToeToToe · 08/03/2019 22:15

Ewe that is priceless Grin

ToeToToe · 08/03/2019 22:18

Yes, I'm absolutely loving seeing our fabulous, strong sportswomen stand up against this - and refusing to be bullied into submission.

Martina, Sharron, Dame Kelly - I raise a glass Wine to you tonight, on IWD, and say all power to you Star Star Star

Absolute winners, all of you.

LangCleg · 08/03/2019 22:24

Oh, Ewe - that is priceless!

EweSurname · 08/03/2019 22:24

It’s the projection I find fascinating

“Science doesn’t care about your feelings”
