Quote:

" One UK feminist splinter has made it their mission to warn of the trans menace. On the BBC just a fortnight ago, a leading member of this group explained how the biggest threat facing women today was “the transgender ideology”.

So I’m biased. Not entirely convinced that upholding the rights of around 10-15,000 trans women in the UK (their focus) will bring on the gender apocalypse: whereas a toxic mix of cuts, austerity and unsympathetic government just might.

A recent schism within this group shows how wrong this can go. They recruited “Mumsnetters”, scarcely radical feminists. Surprise! Many of these were happy to sup with the far-right Heritage Foundation. Cue rapid backpedalling by people relying on the old maxim: “my enemy’s enemy is my friend”.

But then across a swathe of issues, from trans rights, to sex work to surrogacy, many of these already align closely to the right. So perhaps more apt: “Lie with dogs: get fleas!” "

end quote.

But then the writer is Jan Fae ..............

Jane Fae:

  1. supports the sex industry.

  2. redefines woman into a feeling and identity.

  3. thinks feminists should solve all other issues in the world before equal rights for women.

Sounds like the neo-lib corruption of feminism known as intersectionalism to me.

EatCashews · 26/02/2019 12:52

I, too, have been radicalised by Mumsnet. It has been great. Everlasting thanks & kisses & cups of tea ...

HumberElla · 26/02/2019 13:03

The revelation for me is, just how radical I appear to have been all my life without even knowing it!

R0wantrees · 26/02/2019 13:05

Is the Independent involved in some sort of anti transactivist black ops? If they are sincere with the stuff they're pushing, they've totally lost the plot.

I had wondered if the Independant were trying to compete for Guardian lost business but perhaps misunderstanding the issue?

Lamaha · 26/02/2019 13:07

Their own siblings, fathered by their own sperm.
Wait a minute, I missed that. Their mothers are supposed to donate eggs as well as wombs? Impregnanted by their sons? My brain is beginning to explode; help me out here. Maybe I misunderstood. If it's just the wombs they aren't truly siblings but it's still very weird.

Not necessarily but I suppose that's one option! All mothers of baby sons should have to freeze some eggs by law in future in case their child was wrongly assigned at birth.

Quotation from Jane Fae in an "Independent" opinion piece from this thread's OP:
"Not entirely convinced that upholding the rights of around 10-15,000 trans women in the UK (their focus) will bring on the gender apocalypse".

NotTerfNorCis wrote: "I notice Fae has put the number of trans people in the UK at 15k. Other TRAs put the number 40 times higher, when it suits."

Fae gives a number for transwomen, not transgender people. I await evidence from Fae to show that Fae cares about transmen. I get the impression that Fae made up the 10-15,000 figure based on the GIRES 2011article Fae links to, which Fae (mistakenly) believes supports Fae's claim. Fae's figure seems to be based on the number of transgender people who had sought medical treatment before 2012. Fae ignores the more recent huge rise in the known transgender population including the recent huge rise in the number of children and adolescents seeking medical treatment.

The UK Government's 2018 estimate for the UK's total male and female transgender population is 200,000 to 500,000.
assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/721642/GEO-LGBT-factsheet.pdf

If one assumes a 50-50 split between male and female in this transgender population, it would suggest that there are now at least 100,000 transwomen in the UK.

I've seen even higher estimates of the UK's transgender population, for example 1% of the entire population, which would be at least 640,000.

Fae's 10-15,000 transwomen statistic makes them seem very trans-exclusionary.

When will transgender campaigners start to care for the rights of all transgender people instead of only supporting the subset of transgender people who suit campaigners' extremely biased agenda of white middle-class transwomenism?

Is Fae suggesting that Linda Bellos is part of the 'far right radicalisation of Mumsnetters?'

Transgenderism & Lesbian Erasure: Linda Bellos
Event held in London, Tuesday 22 May 2018.

Organised by the Lesbian Rights Alliance.

It seems from the report from the 'We're Still Here' conference that Fae along with other TRAs present including Edward Lord, James Morton etc were supportive of Guiliana Kendal's attempt to sue Linda Bellos and Venice Allen.

(extract)
"Jane Fae said that JF has been in contact w/ YHA and GirlGuiding. Fae is of the opinion that the law doesn’t distinguish gender and sex. They are not defined and parliament will not define them.

The TRAs are fully prepared to take local councils to court of they try to invoke EA2010 for reasons of sex. JF was nodding at Giuliana when JF said this.

James Morton (Scottish Trans Alliance) said to be “strategic about test cases to ensure strong case law”.

Edward Lord agreed. He also said that the City of London Corp city solicitor and the Chief Exec are “strong allies”.

Regards the consultation doc put out by the City of London Corp… Lord implied that they were going to go through the answers and cherry pick the the qualitative snapshots."

For a self-identified feminist, Fae has a few 'gaps' of understanding feminist history!

R0wantrees · 26/02/2019 13:42

Maybe it was Helen Steel who Fae thinks part of the 'far right radicalisation' crew?

Betty that would look great pinned to a beret.

Next: Fae declares that the sky is green, the grass is blue, and that Sheila Jeffreys thoroughly approves of both transgenderism and extreme pornography Wink

September 2018 'IN ENGLAND'S GREEN AND PLEASANT LAND'
(extract)
"The Challenor case is an arrow to the heart of Britain’s twisted sexual politics.
Somewhere in England there is a girl who was raped, tortured and electrocuted by a well-known local Green Party figure in Coventry, David Challenor. During the criminal trial his victim described his rituals in which he dressed as a little girl or a baby in a nappy, at a house used as an official Green Party address, in 2015. For anyone, this case is cruel and cautionary – for Greens it is a huge political crisis.

We know that nothing is more important than community respect and validation for the survivors of sexual crime. This girl didn’t get it. Her lonely journey to the criminal court was vindicated – at the end of August the perpetrator, David Challenor, received a 22-year-sentence.

But the child was unsupported by the people who mattered most, her intimate community, the Challenors - David, his wife Tina and Aimee Challenor. All three were well-known Green Party activists. It was the abuser they supported, not his accuser.

The police interviewed Challenor in October 2015. *Aimee Challenor was then a teenager transitioning from a boy, to a girl, who was about to become an ambitious young trans activist. By 2017 Aimee Challenor was Green Party equalities spokesperson and a party candidate, and this year pitched into the party’s recent deputy leadership election.

The sins of the father are not the sins of the son or daughter. Yet Aimee Challenor’s trajectory as a political trans activist and synchronises with the police investigation into David Challenor. Twice she appointed her father as election agent - there are no criteria regulating agents, according to the Electoral Commission – and she insists that despite the criminal charges she was ‘building bridges’ and attempting reconciliation with her father." (continues)

Lesbian activist Olivia Palmer has been expelled for opposing the mantra ‘trans women are women’. The Green Party has forced luminaries Rupert Read and Jenny Jones to publically recant their scepticism. Aimee Challenor tried take legal action to silence Green Party activist Any Healey, and members are wondering who in the leadership supported Aimee Challenor’s legal action to silence him – he launched Gender Critical Greens, a feminist resource, and insisted on identifying Challenor as a man. The legal action against Healey is still unresolved. Healey was not allowed to address the party conference, whilst David Challenor was given space to propose motions despite his impending trial on the most serious child sexual abuse charges.

Aimee and David Challenor mobilised Twitter widgets to block ‘trans exclusionary radical feminists’ - last year Aimee Challenor proclaimed the campaign’s success in blocking 50,000 people deemed ‘terfs’ and bigots, and getting one vocal feminist transsexual, Miranda Yardley, being bannedfrom Twitter for life." Hi - just a quick apology for not including the link to the article (posting late at night is likely to lead to errors!).

Thanks to those who worked out where it came from www.independent.co.uk/voices/far-right-feminism-womens-rights-racism-mumsnet-ukip-tommy-robinson-a8793451.html

And without ignoring all the other comments I do think that at one time the Independent did seem to be aiming to attract ex Guardian readers who gave up because of the silencing of women's voices and the endless pro trans comment pieces.

But I think that as a result the trans activists have somehow (and they always do) got at them and they are now endlessly publishing articles like this.

And like the Guardian dont ever attempt to provide a counter arguement or balance.

Although unlike the Guardian the online comments do seem to suggest that people just dont buy into the trans logic.

When you take this and the interview on Radio 4 pm about women's sports, how do the media seem to willing to give publicity to ideas that dont stand up to rational arguement?

And of course the disproportionate amoung of air time and news print coverage they are given relative to their numbers. If they gave as much space to those who are challenging the trans narrative more women's voices would be heard.

Funny that, isn't it, that women just aren't listened to, or allowed to have an opinion.

Like Jeremy Vine having Linda Bellos on his tv show and making no reference to the recent court case or her feminism. She is only allowed to talk about the Labour Party. ie "proper" politics that man recognise. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3517558-Linda-Bellos-was-on-C5-today-Did-I-miss-anything?noti=1#85185313

'50 Shades Of Gaslighting: Disturbing Signs An Abuser Is Twisting Your Reality'
by Shahida Arabi
Updated September 29, 2018

"Gaslighting, explained.
How do you convince someone that something they know to be true isn’t? In psychology, what is known as the “illusory truth effect” is a phenomenon in which a listener comes to believe something primarily because it has been repeated so often. When an abuser continually tells you that you are oversensitive or that what you are experiencing is in no way abuse, you begin believing it, even if you know deep down it isn’t true.

In other words, a lie that is repeated long enough eventually can be seen as the truth. Researchers Hasher, Goldstein and Toppino (1997) discovered that when a statement (even when it is false and readers know it to be false) is repeated multiple times, it was more likely to be rated as true simply due to the effects of repetition. This is because when we’re assessing a claim, we rely on either the credibility of the source from which the claim is derived or familiarity with that claim. Surprisingly, familiarity often trumps credibility or rationality when assessing the perceived validity of a statement (Begg, Anas, and Farinacci, 1992; Geraci, L., & Rajaram, 2016).

The illusory truth effect can cause us to become susceptible to the effects of another dangerous form of reality erosion known as gaslighting. Deliberate manipulators who gaslight with the intention of eroding your reality and rewriting history tend to use the “illusory truth effect” to their advantage. They will repeat falsehoods so often that they become ingrained in the victim’s mind as unshakeable truths." (continues)

Gaslighting has become a well-known term in the abuse survivor community, particularly for the survivors of malignant narcissists. Unlike more vulnerable narcissists who may possess more of a capacity for remorse, malignant narcissists truly believe in their superiority, are grandiose and lie on the higher end of the narcissistic spectrum. They have antisocial traits, demonstrate paranoia, bear an excessive sense of entitlement, show a callous lack of empathy and display an egregious liking for interpersonal exploitation." (continues)

Just for clarification. Fae is wrong about the genetics of tissue typing. The most likely match, to allow a uterus implant, would not be from the trans person's mother but from their sister.

The MHC on cells, which determines our tissue type, is given to us 50/50 by our parents.

The mother has given the trans person 50% of their tissue type, but only that, half. The rest comes from the father. So the mother's organs are very unlikely to be a match, because 50 of the genetics will be different.

Their sister, having the same mother and father is more likely to be a good enough match to allow an implantation. (but still not guaranteed)

So it is their sisters that they would look to for a uterus. Not their mothers.

Just imagine, Fae not understanding biology. Who'd have thought it, eh?
