A space for respect, equality & peace in the rainbow for us?

OP posts:
Barracker · 12/02/2019 11:37

Me!
I'm biologically female, and I fight for the sex based rights of all biological females.
I don't care how they identify.
I'm completely inclusive of all biological females!

Oh wait.
You'd forgotten about the females who are trans, hadn't you. Easily done, they're not as important to you I imagine.
You meant "are there any feminists here who will include males".

Qcng · 12/02/2019 11:37

I'm trans inclusive. Transmen, being female are included in my feminism, and I stand by trans people in their right to be accepted as trans, to live free from discrimination and bullying, whilst being comitted to preserving same-sex spaces for women, and recognising biology.
Not hard.

I’m no fan of the term intersex because it creates the impression of a halfway house, but it is what it is, it’s in the medical dictionaries and it’s not my place to change it.

Bowl did you listen to the R4 Recent Radio 4 'More Or Less' fact check on misleading claims about 'Intersex' ? Dr Bernard Khoo described how he also regards the term 'intersex as problematic.

"The BBC reports that as many as 1.7% of the world have intersex traits. Tim Harford speaks to an expert in the field, endocrinologist Dr Bernard Khoo about why that number is too high."

‘Non binary’

= I am very special and defy all gender norms. Because I’m special. But the rest of you need to adhere to strict gender stereotypes because otherwise I don’t look special. I am very special, did I mention that?

Thing is, a lot of us on here have been defying gender norms for decades. Short hair, trousers, fighting to get mortgages when you needed a man’s permission, blazing trails in ‘men only’ professions. Supporting men and women who want to look or act outside the narrow stereotypes and often facing hardship for doing so.,

So all that hard work those women and men did? That’s got us to a place where you can wear, do and be whatever you want. Don’t shit all over those pioneers with your non binary nonsense.

Qcng · 12/02/2019 11:40

It's really worrying that there's someone who wants to categorise people who have a DSD as a "third" sex. What about their privacy and right to live as male or female?
And what has this got to do with trans inclusivity and rainbows...?

Ottercup · 12/02/2019 11:40

you just stick to your rhetoric that intersex people are simply disordered

Even our NHS describes them as having disorders of see elopment.

Ottercup · 12/02/2019 11:40

*of sexual development

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 12/02/2019 11:42

Well this didn't go well as the op forgot about the transmen....

Cake

Qcng · 12/02/2019 11:42

Non-binary = I have blue hair and get offended very, very easily.

Bowlofbabelfish · 12/02/2019 11:43

I haven’t, no R0 - the figure genreally accepted is about 0.02% I think - so 1/100th of that 1.7% figure.

TRAs are trying to get things like pcos and hypospadias into that bracket, which is totally incorrect.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 12/02/2019 11:43

nauticant · 12/02/2019 11:43

I assume userschmoozer has simply made a mistake about the terminology and thought that "trans women" referred to women when the more useful term "transwomen" actually refers to men. I suppose they were referring to "transmen", that is women.

FlyingOink · 12/02/2019 11:44

I did ask for evidence that people with DSDs want to be considered a third sex.

Bowlofbabelfish · 12/02/2019 11:45

Language again.

Person has a disorder - neutral, factual, can be verified with facts.

Person IS DISORDERED - negative language, very emotional, can be used as an attack.

Perhaps they put something in blue hair dye?

Kismetjayn · 12/02/2019 11:45

Yeah. Interestingly I find more empathy towards trans individuals in the past, but more visibility in the wider world today.

I take my inspiration from the stories a good friend tells me about the early leather & lgbt movement in 70s San Francisco. It seemed a lot more loving and less conflicted.

I'm with Bernard and stillathing too, and Lang regarding feminism.

Women's lib, women's abs girls rights includes trans men for me as they have needs specific to their sex.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 12/02/2019 11:49

But it is also the same if we ask to connect with trans inclusive feminists

i think everyone here is in favour of including Transmen in their feminism.... is that not what you want?

How is that trans exclusive?

R0wantrees · 12/02/2019 11:49

we can post someplace asking to connect with other feminists and always a bunch of trolls who’ve never experienced what it really means will jump on to debate wether Feminist even exists etc

'assholes' and now 'trolls'?
Hmm

NotBadConsidering · 12/02/2019 11:50

On the other thread that you abandoned I pointed out that there’s no such thing as “intersex people”. Intersex is such a broad term, encompassing a wide heterogeneous range of disorders of sexual development. I know boys with DSD and girls with DSD. To say “intersex people” want anything as a group (particularly bullshit such as “they” want to be referred to as a 3rd sex) is YOU pigeonholing people into one stereotypical group. This is wrong.

Bowlofbabelfish · 12/02/2019 11:50

Thank you to all those who are trans inclusive.

What does that even mean.?
Why should feminism include men?
Do you think humans can change sex?

R0wantrees · 12/02/2019 11:51

I haven’t, no R0 - the figure genreally accepted is about 0.02% I think - so 1/100th of that 1.7% figure.

Bowl Its worth listening to. It was a wider discussion than just the unpicking of the false statistic.

Bowlofbabelfish · 12/02/2019 11:51

I’ll give it a listen! Thanks :)

FloralBunting · 12/02/2019 11:51

Hahaha, now I'm amused. Not one single thread here started by someone asking for only views they are in agreement with has ever succeeded - even fecking support threads for transwidows or parents with trans identifying children get invaded by people asserting their counter views.

Terribly sorry that your disingenuous plea to have a private little thread of head pats didn't come off for you after you insulted the women here for correcting your woeful ignorance.

Nah, not really.
