A space for respect, equality & peace in the rainbow for us?

OP posts:
dragoning · 12/02/2019 11:28

My support for women's rights includes all females without exception. Most certainly including transmen and non binary females.

Or did you mean transwomen? I wish them well, along with all other males. But cannot include them in the category 'female', because...well, they're male. They have other needs. But not female needs.

Daughterofmabel · 12/02/2019 11:28

My feminism isn’t about upholding gender roles, it’s about liberating women from the oppression forced on them by their sex. That means all adult human females, regardless of whether they have a gender identity or not
this .

Atalune · 12/02/2019 11:29

I’m inclusive of trans adults. Those who are able to give consent.

I’m inclusive of trans allies who are terrified of the TRA train demolishing children’s rights and lives. Those who are effectively grooming children into life changing, painful and irreversible treatments that will leave them with scars and infertility.

I am inclusive of people who strongly question Stonewall and Mermaids and want to hold them
Accountable to their claims.

I am inclusive of well researched, evidence based and peer reviewed science.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 12/02/2019 11:29

entitled to having their sex classified as third

oh good heavens

what gametes do the third sex produce?

what do you think the purpose of sex is?

BertrandRussell · 12/02/2019 11:29

I welcome anyone into feminism or as a feminist ally if they put women front and centre. Feminism is about women. I am also passionate about anti racism, gay rights, climate change-loads of other issues. But not because I am a feminist.

StrangeLookingParasite · 12/02/2019 11:29

people insisting that their are only two sexes; while using the term intersex.... and; no matter the evidence, understanding or illustration of harms caused by binary thinking, you just stick to your rhetoric that intersex people are simply disordered and are not valid or entitled to having their sex classified as third, (or to respect any wider discourse of multiple sex etc)

Gosh. So much wrong.

RockyFlintstone · 12/02/2019 11:29

From the other thread:

Good luck getting bitter, twisted & just nasty....

Sorry your (sic) too stupid to talk to

So respectful.

Also, you haven't answered the question over there about what capacity a 13 year old girl has to consent to a bilateral mastectomy. And why that is different to consenting to sex?

BettyDuMonde · 12/02/2019 11:30

I love The Carpenters.

AnotherBewilderedQuoll · 12/02/2019 11:30

My feminism is about liberating all female people from the male system of oppression known as patriarchy. So yeah, all of us, class female, no juvenile or adult human female is excluded.

JaxintheBlue · 12/02/2019 11:30

Thank you to everyone who has said they are trans inclusive, it’s really beautiful to see.
Seems the opposition are very vocal here! I was beginning to question if any trans friendly feminists exist here!

OP posts:
OldCrone · 12/02/2019 11:30

Predicting this thread will turn out to be the usual barrage from people who can't bear to see others have differing opinions to them though.

The OP, certainly had a problem with seeing different opinions on the other thread I've seen them on.

Jax, some of us are still waiting for you to educate us about what 'non binary' means to you.

FlyingOink · 12/02/2019 11:31

evidence, understanding or illustration of harms caused by binary thinking
Please explain what you mean by this? What is binary thinking and how is it harmful?

intersex people are simply disordered and are not valid or entitled to having their sex classified as third
People with a disorder aren't "disordered". Did anyone claim certain people aren't "valid"? What does that even mean? Are all their identity documents shredded? Are they a non-person? What is validity in this context?
And have intersex people asked for a third sex to be invented for them? That isn't my experience, can you give examples of this request?

Oxytocindeficient · 12/02/2019 11:31

You are so disingenuous, it’s laughable

FlyingOink · 12/02/2019 11:32

playground taunts about what a rainbow or my name is?
No I was just asking. You don't have to answer, obviously.

userschmoozer · 12/02/2019 11:32

I don't think most people exclude trans women. They are still at risk of rape and resulting pregnancy as they are biological females.
Thats why they get put into womens prisons.

Feminism is a movement for the liberation and autonomy of women. We can't achieve that if we cant even define 'woman'. That isn't hate or being exclusionary.

I cant think of another civil rights movement who's members are not allowed to define themselves or fight for their own rights.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 12/02/2019 11:32

Seems the opposition are very vocal here

They are not really, have you actually read through threads here?

RussellSprout · 12/02/2019 11:33

I wouldn't count myself as a radfem, but I do think that if biological males are included in feminism it dilutes what feminism means.

Feminism has its origins in biological differences, if there were no biological differences there would be no historical oppression, so I believe it should continue to be based on biological differences ie no natal males.

Bowlofbabelfish · 12/02/2019 11:33

My point about assholes being assholes, was in reference to people insisting that their are only two sexes; while using the term intersex.

There are only two sexes.

I’m no fan of the term intersex because it creates the impression of a halfway house, but it is what it is, it’s in the medical dictionaries and it’s not my place to change it.

You’re doing the POMO language thing, where you take a general statement and make it about an individual in order to ramp up the emotion. So a neutral statement like ‘disorder of sexual development ’ gets turned into are you saying I’m a disorder?!? You, like, literally don’t want me to exist!

The condition is a disorder (range of conditions actually) - neutral statement.,
The people who have them are people, as valid as any other person.

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 12/02/2019 11:33

I don't think most people exclude trans women.

Transwomen are biological men.

FloralBunting · 12/02/2019 11:34

It's not a playground taunt. You're the one launching in suggesting that because some scientists gave you correct information about the various rare conditions under the intersex condition, that means 'intersex' people aren't 'valid', and made pronouncements about being non binary, and when you were asked what you mean by that told people to 'educate themselves' (which is usually the reason people ask questions).

You've been answered that yes, the proponents of women's liberation are inclusive of females who are trans, but what you're wanting is people who nod and smile at whatever personal identity quirks you indulge in and there aren't really any threads on MN anywhere that that sort of thing happens.

RussellSprout · 12/02/2019 11:34

@userschmoozer can you explain how a transwoman is at risk of pregnancy please?

Bowlofbabelfish · 12/02/2019 11:34

This rainbow by the way? Is it a spectrum or discontinuous? Grin

(Science joke.)

ATailofTwoKitties · 12/02/2019 11:34

I'm really confused now, Jax. You said you are 'nonbinary' and I assumed you meant you don't call yourself female despite being female. Where does intersex or DSD come into that?

R0wantrees · 12/02/2019 11:34

A space for respect, equality & peace in the rainbow for us?

Who is the 'us'.
Calling women 'assholes' on the FWR board doesn't seem especially respectful or peaceful.

Trousering · 12/02/2019 11:35

Predicting this thread will turn out to be the usual barrage from people who can't bear to see others have differing opinions to them though.

You mean like the OP calling people assholes for providing information about disorders of sex development?
