This whole hate speech/incident law is completely out of control. This is sinister.

I hope his pretending to be ill helps matters somehow.

Popchyk · 29/01/2019 20:56

But don't you think that the actual issue is that police officers are being "trained" in what is clearly total bollocks in the first place?

And you seem to think that this is an isolated incident. It is not.

There have been loads of people spoken to by the police about just this issue (Posy Parker, Linda Bellos, Venice Allan, Miranda Yardley, Graham Linehan for example).

I think three or four people on Mumsnet alone have been spoken to by the police about this issue. Probably more by now.

rytonsister · 29/01/2019 20:57

why though harry? please explain to me?

during training you get some token trans wheeled in to say something (what exactly i have long since forgotten because i am a 50 year old woman who thought "meh" and got on with the job in hand.

why the need to "get" someone?

RepealTheGRA · 29/01/2019 20:58

Going off on a tangent here and having a pop at the system not individual teachers but WTAF was PC Gul taught in biology (or any other bloody lesson) that he believes that? He’s an adult!

rytonsister · 29/01/2019 20:59

popy

if someone reports a "hate incident or hate crime" the police are duty bound to record/investigate
as with any crime.

in a way im actually glad this has backfired because im hoping someone somewhere will go "oh how about we use some common sense again" but i doubt that tbh.

i just dont get what outcome is wanted?

ill watch will interest at our upcoming training days.

Rogueaccountant · 29/01/2019 20:59

It’s human nature to get them back when they try to get you.

Popchyk · 29/01/2019 20:59

So, nope, not just one over-enthusiastic rookie.

West Yorkshire Police have done most of the harassing of people who don't bow to the transgender cult.

It seems to be spreading.

BoreOfWhabylon · 29/01/2019 21:04

ryton PC Gull is one of three Community Cohesion Officers, part of the Hate Crime Unit.

www.grimsbytelegraph.co.uk/news/transgender-woman-hate-crime-police-2175744
(scroll down))

He specialises in this - gives talks in schools etc. Spreading the girlie brain bollocks.

HazzaTheOwl · 29/01/2019 21:04

I’m not out ‘to get’ anyone. My intent is call to account the powerful who are promoting this nonsense, working outside CPS guidelines, intimidating people who exercise their Article 10 rights to debate without police interference. That is what I’m out to do and I think it’s a cause worth pursuing. Don’t you?

rytonsister · 29/01/2019 21:05

who tried to "get" anyone? i think you need some perspective really i do.

he has tried in the clumsiest way possible to try and do right by the party complaining and no doubt because its a "hate incident" he thought he had to tow the politically correct line.

jesus if i thought i was being paid to "get" innocent people talking online id resign. he has been a bit daft but really? why the baying for blood? i dont get it thats all. ive had things happen to me in all walks of life and ive managed to say ok, and come to some understanding or let it go.

harry what is it you would like as an outcome to this? i dont want to be disingenuous at all - but what outcome and what motives?

RepealTheGRA · 29/01/2019 21:05

This has got to be pursued because it’s not acceptable for people to be contacted over their thinking, it’s not acceptable for people to be scared of speaking in case the police are called and it’s not acceptable for the country that the public think the police are a laughing stock and don’t want to support them. Policy needs to change, Keith the PCC needs to go and PC Gul needs retraining in reality.

RepealTheGRA · 29/01/2019 21:07

And PC Gul should stop brainwashing school children with utter bollocks!!

rytonsister · 29/01/2019 21:11

ok. what if i think all feminists are bovver boot wearing man haters who should be on the ducking stool?

some things are acceptable to say in our society now.
some are not.

think what you like. but its polite not to say everything we think isnt it?

police forces have to act on reports of certain things and hate crime covers more than just trans issues.
it covers all the protected characteristics. for good reason. we cannot pick and choose which we like.

nauticant · 29/01/2019 21:13

The higher-ups in the Police are seeking to curry favour by allowing something akin to a religious ideology to spread through the service. And allowing a culture to build up that anyone who says "whoa!" has to be silenced/re-educated.

It's not just the Police. It's also happening in the NHS, in the government, in all of the political parties, and many other institutions too.

And when they get caught out they'll throw low level individuals like PC Gul to the wolves and then carry on with it. Until one day enough people wake up and suddenly the facilitators will be playing a different tune.

RepealTheGRA · 29/01/2019 21:15

Ffs! Hate Crime legislation does NOT cover all protected characteristics.
That is a major bone of contention on these boards.

rytonsister · 29/01/2019 21:15

the link isnt working.

but for everyone saying pc gul is wrong there will be a trans person thinking he is right.

so - who is right then? what should police do?
if someone is punched in the face or spat at for being trans - what should the police do?
ignore?
act?

should all hate speech be allowed and accepted?

im interested in where you think the line is.

Popchyk · 29/01/2019 21:16

ryton

This isn't about PC Gul being "daft". You seem to be missing the point.

He did exactly what he's been told to do. The statement from Humberside police explains that PC Gul's response was correct and was proportionate.

And think about the kind of person who stalks Harry and collects 30 Tweets together, passes his name and work address to the police.

That person will always insist that it is taken further. If PC Gul decided not to speak to Harry, the complainant would be making an official complaint against PC Gul to his superiors.

rytonsister · 29/01/2019 21:16

no they wont nauticant. you truly believe that bullshit?

rytonsister · 29/01/2019 21:17

mmmm popy

sort of proves my point about being damed either way doesnt it.

rytonsister · 29/01/2019 21:18

i challenge the thinking thing right here and now.

do the far right - the holocaust deniers and the nazis... do they have a right to think what ever they like and not be challenged?

i ask again - where is this line to be drawn?

TimeLady · 29/01/2019 21:20

rytonsister

Sorry, but if you can't see why Harry is taking action on this, you are part of the problem.

For starters, that crap training programme needs to be scrapped, and the PC Guls of this world need to be stopped spreading such nonsense to schools and elsewhere.

nauticant · 29/01/2019 21:21

who is right then?

Clearly not the person who says "you can have a foetus with a female brain that grows male body parts and that’s what a transgender person is".

This isn't about attacking individuals. It's about stuff like free speech vs compelled speech/silencing, science vs compelled ideology, and women being allowed to have their own single sex spaces and safeguarding of children.

titchy · 29/01/2019 21:22

im interested in where you think the line is.

The line has already been clearly drawn and recognised by Humberside police. A hate crime should be investigated as a crime. This wasnt a hate crime - it was a hate incident. Perhaps hate incidents should be reported to the EOC and they can make a nice list rather than wasting valuable police resources.

rytonsister · 29/01/2019 21:22

the kind of person who stalks harry (though i assume his posts are public??)

is the kind of person who is offended by harry and therefore goes running to the cops to play referee.

just as youre all offended by the person who reported harry in the first place?

is this not some kind of hypocritical madness?

nauticant · 29/01/2019 21:24

youre all offended by the person who reported harry in the first place

You have major comprehension difficulties.
