Virgin users got blocked from the Gair Play for Women site the weekend before the GRA consultation closed.

I assume it was as a result of mass reporting by TRAs.

I phoned up to complain and spoke to a lovely lady in their call centre who understood completely the concept of men not wanting women to access a feminist site. She put me through to a nice lad in Wales who acted when I explained that he needed to speak to his manager to rectify what could be perceived as a misogynistic and undemocratic act.

If Virgin are blocking something unreasonably and probably in response to TRA complaints we need to complain. TRAs like JY should not control what we can see. (Twitter is probably a lost cause...)

I feel it's important that we monitor and report on any such restrictions here. Virgin might not be bothered about pissing off KiwiFarms, but they might think twice about pissing off Mumsnet.

I suspect Virgin dont give things much thought. They get a rash of complaints saying a site is bad, so they act. If they then get a rash of complaints suggesting that women see this action misogynistic, they will reconsider. Unlike Twitter I think they see themselves as a family firm and have mo particular interest in being allies with JY types.

I'd think complaints from Virgin users threatening to cancel their accounts would be particularly compelling.
