Relax, it's not a trans thread.

It's about the horrific murder of Natalie Connolly.

Who's writing to the Attorney General?

I've started a separate thread in AIBU for the petitions:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3459253-To-ask-you-to-sign-these-petitions-Natalie-Connellys-murder?watched=1

Italiangreyhound · 24/12/2018 08:59

WomanWithAltitude thank you.

Lana1234 · 24/12/2018 09:57

Have emailed the attorney and signed the petitions. This case makes me sick to my stomach.

WomanDaresTo · 24/12/2018 10:02

Hello. Mumsnetters have collated many (not yet all) of these cases of men killing women and using sex game gone wrong as a defence. Have started a new thread but you can see them here:

www.wecantconsenttothis.uk/

Bluhooty · 24/12/2018 10:28

I've signed the petition and emailed AG. DH and DM have too. This case has really upset me. I hope there can be proper justice for Natalie.

Italiangreyhound · 24/12/2018 11:12

WomanDaresTo all tgis e women, and some girls under 18. Heartbreaking. Our nation is failing womem and girls.

Chardeemacdennis1 · 24/12/2018 15:04

The thing is the judge is saying she was so drunk she probably just hurt herself - but if you've ever taken cocain you would know that you can drink unusually large quantities of alcohol and remain relatively clear headed.

So I don't belive for one minute that she was so drunk she was stumbling around hurting herself or so out of her mind she wanted a spray bottle rammed into her. The coke would have counteracted against all the alcohol.

If she was deleriouse and stumbling it would be from the beatings.

HomerDancing · 24/12/2018 15:54

I have signed the petition on Change , it hasn’t even reached 500 signatures yet.

I am going to email MP and AG soon.

Italiangreyhound · 24/12/2018 17:02

The petitions are moving fast. We will get there. I read the link of all those W/o men killed by men who claimed sex games home wrong. I am sickened.

Italiangreyhound · 24/12/2018 17:06

I mean the 'WE CAN'T CONSENT TO THIS' page. Just utterly disgusting. One thing noted I'd many of these poor women, and girls, had only just met the man who killed them. I find it so unlikely that they would have felt safe enough to suggest anything so dangerous as strangling etc eith a stranger. I even find it hard to imagine many women wanting such potebtusllu dangerous sex from a partner.

But it does seem clear that the chargers that could have been pursued were not because the men's stories were believed. The survivor told the story.

gluteustothemaximus · 24/12/2018 23:03

You told the police that you had gone to bed at 3am and awoke after 9am. However there was evidence that you were awake at around 6am. That is because of the health app data from your iPhone showing that stairs were ascended at 6.06, and because of the text message you sent to Leslie Griffiths at 6.11 asking him to have the children for some time longer because you and Natalie had been ‘sick as a dog all night’.

So he lied about getting up (and stepping over her body) at 6am, claimed he didn't wake until 9am. Still took him until 9.23am to call an ambulance, and then described her as 'dead as a doughnut'.

Jesus. How CAN this be? To leave a 'loved one' in a pool of blood at the bottom of the stairs all night. His sentence is a joke. In what sort of world would that at all be possible, that a partner would treat you that way, and that is normal? His only 'crime' one of negligence in not calling an ambulance.

starcrossedseahorse · 25/12/2018 13:09

It is utterly beyond belief when you start reading about it. The judge needs to go.

Charley50 · 25/12/2018 14:35

Totally agree. The judge should be struck off as incompetent. And dangerous to women.

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 25/12/2018 14:48

And the man who murdered an escort by beating her around the head, I believe, was just given life.

That case was horrific enough but this one is (if it’s possible) worse as it sounds as if she was tortured and was just left to die as a result of the assault.

Why was the sentence so short? It can’t stand surely?

starcrossedseahorse · 25/12/2018 14:55

Hoping that the review will result in a hefty sentence for this vile man. But the whole system needs a serious overhaul.

Italiangreyhound · 25/12/2018 15:04

I agree starcrossedseahorse

"The judge needs to go."

karmarama · 25/12/2018 15:50

The Twitter post linked by @arranbubonic - that was also local rumour about John Broadhurst (my family live in the village).

WTFIsAGleepglorp · 25/12/2018 15:56

He killed her sadistically and blatantly lied about the circumstances.

Why was any of his testimony given any credence?

OP posts:
Italiangreyhound · 25/12/2018 17:04

karmarama "that was also local rumour about John Broadhurst (my family live in the village)."

What was the rumour?

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 25/12/2018 17:08

That he had attacked a previous girlfriend I think.

MrsChollySawcutt · 25/12/2018 17:45

Christ, cases like this one and also the recent Irish case where the defendant was acquitted of rape because his victim went out wearing 'sexy' knickers just make me despair about the society we live in.

How is this justice?

karmarama · 25/12/2018 17:54

Yes sorry I didn't want to repeat it for fear of deletion but that's definitely the story floating round the local area and I'm fairly sure was in the local press at the time but can't find any trace of the stories now.

Italiangreyhound · 25/12/2018 17:54

"That he had attacked a previous girlfriend I think." that's a bit of info not in the news reports, is it linked anywhere?

How shocking.

MrsChollySawcutt it's shocking and feels like we have gone back 50 years or more!

MistressDeeCee · 25/12/2018 17:56

I'm writing to my MP. This is disgusting and I can't just discuss it online.
