Is this the week they're doing a lot of stuff on gender? Anyway, saw a tweet earlier from Professor Stock that she is on WH this morning. Don't know what time. Should be worth a listen. She is so clear and cogent.

OMG SH is totally addled. Talk about chatting shit. Blah blah intersex, which has nothing to do with it, and blah blah blah feminists exclude black and WC women, which again has fuck all to do with trans, and isn’t true. Let’s make everyone think trans is intersex and make feminists look like privileged elitists.

JG is having none of that shit and DocStock was excellent.

They want to hear from lesbians btw, so do get in touch. I might just write in.

Jane Garvey, it would seem from listening between the lines, has been Puuuuuulllllled.

Kathleen was brilliant. So articulate and well reasoned. Sally on the other hand was bizarre. I'm shocked that she is an academic. She has no understanding of critical thought at all. Utterly appalling. Imo.

I found SH lack of clear logic and conflation of elements very worrying if this is what people are being taught

"We're not scientists" (Hines referring to herself and Stock) every sociologist everywhere cringes. Guess it's time to wrap up the social sciences folks!

I don't think anyone who knows nothing will be much the wiser. Hines darting between socially constructed sex, socially constructed gender, intersex (not socially constructed?), trans and non binary. Rather confusing, and really frustrating if you do know something about it.
It would have been better if Stock had set out her opinion on sex and gender (ie answered the q put to hines) as her position is so clear and people will get it. She was always responding to Hines.
I get the impression Hines is quite important in this whole movement along with Whittle and a few others in academia.
Were they in the studio together? Yikes!
When are the other gender topics the presenter mentioned going to be covered? Is it this week or longer term?
Good to get some coverage on womens hour. It will alert the good women of middle England (middle UK?) that something is afoot.

Hines was absolutely dreadful and I guarantee every "civilian" listener was going "WTF is she going on about".

This is SO what was needed, shining a light on the issues, not No Debate. However lots of the listeners completely unfamiliar with the sex/gender argument (and there are lots of them out there) might have shut off with all the intersex derailing at the beginning. Smiled at their difficulty around the word "woman". Who knew we would be so hard to define?

And an academic prefers "assigned at birth"? Sigh

Hines did an great job of showing herself up there. Proper confusing word salad of woke gender buzz bingo. Nobody will be any the wiser from her input if they don't understand the issues yet. Confused faces around the country.

On the other hand, in total contrast, well done Doc Stock. You really are most excellent

I thought Jane Garvey did so well giving both sides a balanced opportunity to speak.

Kathleen Stock is great on the radio. Really crystal clear diction which enables her to 'say' so much in a short time. She sounded sane and not overly heady.

Hines really had a hard sell for gender ideology there. It's funny how completely full of shit exponents of it sound when the debate is allowed.

JG final comment! It’s worth listening right to the end, or FF past the supposed drama. ‘Tomorrow we are talking about periods, which is of course an amazing part of being a woman’ (May not be quite accurate, but you get the gist)

Did Hines actually say something along the lines of 'it's about time we moved on from the politics of reality' or did I mishear?

I note she is from Leeds Uni. Wasn't that intern at Leeds?

I had to turn it off as I was driving and yelling at the radio.

JG was great. SH had no idea who badly she was coming across and Prof Stock was passionate and calm.
