Just seen this posted on FB. Good, I’m glad they’re getting a roasting.

Will post below as can’t do clicky links.

OP posts:

The only support is from joss prior repeating the same line again and again, something about hate. And that bigots are the minority, even though clearly from that thread, what joss thinks are bigots are actually the large majority.
And two or three others saying they have blocked a load of people.
Is it because they block so many that they don't realise that its them that are the minority..
Will stonewall listen? Or do they just block too?

ARosebyAnyOtherNameChange · 06/11/2018 17:56

Stonewall describes homosexuality as a 'medical' condition - isn't that line actually where they say that 'homosexual' is an outdated term as it sounds too medical, so please use 'gay'?

(Paraphrasing, but I think that's roughly what I remember it saying)

I don't think JP is repeating it - isn't it reappearing because people are specifically replying to the tweet?

heresyandwitchcraft · 06/11/2018 18:00

ARosebyAnyOtherNameChange you are bang on.

Stonewall's Glossary of terms:

Homosexual

This might be considered a more medical term used to describe someone who has an emotional romantic and/or sexual orientation towards someone of the same gender. The term ‘gay’ is now more generally used.

Vicky it looks like a copy and paste to me.
I cant see any replies but Im not a twitter user and don't really know how it works so could be wrong.

Same gender. And here we see the real reason they're objecting to homosexual.

placemats · 06/11/2018 18:21

Stonewall has clearly abandoned the LGB.

It's now solely about the T.

Disgraceful.

placemats · 06/11/2018 18:22

And they have thrown the L and the B under the bus to achieve this.

Datun · 06/11/2018 18:24

I'm sure most people don't realise that Stonewall no longer define homosexuality as same-sex attraction.

When I was younger, it was a respectable, yet edgy, organisation.

I'm quite certain that when this hits mainstream, there will be a backlash.

Two men giving each other blowjobs being described as lesbian sex, ain't going to wash.

VisitorsEntrance · 06/11/2018 18:25

Now I was going to start a thread of my own but I’ll tag onto this one.

Radio 4 pm were taking to Peter Tatchall (sorry if I spelt that wrong) about the people who were arrested for the dreadful Grenfell video. He agreed that it was dreadful but not on that the people being arrested. He said that people should have the right to say whatever they like because no matter what you do someone will get offended.

I thought that was an interesting standpoint.

SomeDyke · 06/11/2018 18:30

Like many other dykes, I'm attracted to those of the same sex (not gender). And I was always opposed to using 'gay' to replace homosexual since at least homosexual could be said to be homosexual males and/or homosexual females. Whereas gay was so often a shortened form of 'gay men'. Plus even saying 'gay women' disappears the specifically female word (and part of our history, yeah for Sappho!) lesbian. To think of the fights we had to get the L in front of the G, to get 'lesbian and gay' said whenever possible....

(and let's not forget the B as well!).

And now Stonewall wants us all to be 'gay' and not homosexuals, or even better 'queer'. They can fuck right off with that.

Especially in the context of Peter Tatchell's involvement in the treatment of Julie Bindel being no-platformed from a recent free speech event:

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 06/11/2018 18:39

Yes, I was just thinking that says a lot about his values. The people who mocked the Grenfell victims are more acceptable to Peter Tatchell than Julie Bindel.

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 06/11/2018 18:43

But the person I really wonder about in all this is Ruth Hunt. Does she genuinely believe in what Stonewall's become? Is she only in it for the money? Or is she suppressing her guilt because she's scared of being burned at the stake if she puts the barest edge of a toenail off the official line?

CaptainKirksSpookyghost · 06/11/2018 18:44

Or is she someone with no personal experience who is in way over their heads?

R0wantrees · 06/11/2018 18:44

The men who mocked the Grenfell victims are more acceptable to Peter Tatchell than Julie Bindell?

OrchidInTheSun · 06/11/2018 18:53

Ruth Hunt is a political animal. There's no money in LGB so she's focused on the T because that gets her a seat at the table.

TimeLady · 06/11/2018 19:23

Or maybe even a seat in the House of Lords?

Shami Chakrabarti is a huge inspiration.

That's a VERY good point, R0wan.

LemonJello · 06/11/2018 19:26

Poor wee Joss, trying valiantly and single handedly to hold back the tide, but having to resort to copying and pasting to stay on top of the volume of gender critical replies.

Joss did risk repetitive strain injury to type, and I quote, “your a bigot” 😂

AncientLights · 06/11/2018 19:27

It's very cheering to read those comments against Stonewall. Who is that idiot Joss Prior? Doesn't seem able to develop any kind of argument, just trots out the trans speak learnt in trans school. Poor Joss.

R0wantrees · 06/11/2018 19:27

I agree Empress. Excellent point.

VickyEadie · 06/11/2018 19:33

Let me see if I'm understanding this: Tatchell says people should have the right to say what they like because there's always someone who will be offended in the context of Grenfell, but that isn't his belief when it comes to Julie Bindel (and probably any other radfem)?
