A twitter account called @thewhitepube, run by two intensely irritating very young women, has been targetting a woman called Nina Edge for alleged 'transphobia', which has apparently culminated in her being sacked.

It appear the Welsh Streets account has become the soapbox for artist @edge_nina (who was recently commissioned to do the winter garden) to spout transphobia, does that represent the view of all involved in the Welsh Streets effort?

I understand why people followed the account in the past (because their housing activism has been good for Liverpool) but I would urge everyone to unfollow in the meantime because you are just putting your trans followers and audiences at arms length in the meantime.

Also just been informed she is a temporary tutor at the art school of @LJMU *@LJMU*arts so idk are you all okay with hiring a terf lmk

Dont know for art but for other subjects unis often use hourly paid tutors on a v casual basis. No guarantee of more work next year, or even next term. It would be easy for them to drop someone like that.

Visiting tutors in the arts are often reliant on these earnings to cover living expenses, it’s what enables them to be practising artists.

I think we need a fabulous group exhibition by ‘terfy’ women-artists. I bet there is a lot of them about, and it’s time we reframed this as a proudly pro-woman, give no fucks movement.

Law faculties use practising solicitors as part time tutors. The benefit to the university is considerably more than the pittance paid to the solicitor. People tutor because they think it's a good thing to do, not for the income. It might be a tiny brownie point on a CV. From Nina Edge's website she seems to be in the same position.

Technically the same Lass but practically very different. Art tutors earn around £250 a day, depending on how prestigious the uni is.

£250 a day, one day a week, 30 weeks a year. This is often the majority of the artists income, or at least, the only guaranteed part, for perhaps the first 10 years of an artists career.
