A twitter account called @thewhitepube, run by two intensely irritating very young women, has been targetting a woman called Nina Edge for alleged 'transphobia', which has apparently culminated in her being sacked.

Excuse me WHO is running the @welshstreets account and retweeting bad terf bullshit logic?

I will loudly bang this drum tomorrow when everyone’s awake 😊 @edge_nina @welshstreets pls let me know in the meantime!! Sweet dreams Xxxxx

It appear the Welsh Streets account has become the soapbox for artist @edge_nina (who was recently commissioned to do the winter garden) to spout transphobia, does that represent the view of all involved in the Welsh Streets effort?

I understand why people followed the account in the past (because their housing activism has been good for Liverpool) but I would urge everyone to unfollow in the meantime because you are just putting your trans followers and audiences at arms length in the meantime.

Fuck me that Twatter person is a sanctimonious knob.
So, she was worried that a gender critical artist teaching there would open the doors to racism..because....if you don't think men are actually women you must be a far right Nazi...
I think the problem here is that these kids have never actually met anyone who doesn't asscribe (or say they ascribe) to every view they hold. Dissent on any part line is deeply shocking to them.
So shocking they actually beleive in "compulsory re-education"...Shock
(They're totally ok with ageism though, that's all good).
Shit, I remember arguing with actual NF skinheads that would have happily kicked my head in, and I was even younger than they are.
They are pampered, over cosseted cowards. At least their smarmy fake righteousness is recorded on the Internet forever. Serves them right.

IfNotNowThenWooOoOoo · 29/10/2018 09:35

I gotta read that again tiger!

Datun · 29/10/2018 10:15

She's admitted in public a plan to bully someone into resigning?

What an idiot.

A dangerous, nasty idiot.

JoanSummers · 29/10/2018 12:36

That person should be reported to their university. They have admitted to bullying a member of staff and are making defamatory posts about them in public on social media. Their university should be aware of that and take appropriate disciplinary action.

There is a second student I saw in twitter today who was also part of this and the university should again be investigating them too.

I think the University needs to make a statement that they are taking the names of all involved students and investigating their actions and social media (for defamation), then will take any necessary disciplinary actions. If they don't do this then isn't the University complicit in any negative impact on Nina Edge, given they are aware this is going on?

PinaGrigio · 29/10/2018 12:41

Then that's the university's disciplinary case against her right there, and ditto the tutor's. All LJMU students will have signed up to this:

www.ljmu.ac.uk/~/media/sample-sharepoint-libraries/policy-documents/139.pdf?la=en

whether they realise it or not. Students don't always appreciate what they've signed up to, funnily enough. Clause 7 explains how to make a complaint about a student's behaviour.

I still haven't seen any formal confirmation from LJMU that they have in fact sacked Nina Edge, so I'd be willing to bet that there is a lot going on behind the scenes.

VenusInSpurs · 29/10/2018 12:44

Is anyone reporting these 'Babygods' (oh, please!) to the University? For deliberate bullying?

And have they, as students presumably used to the need for rigorous analysis and evidence, actually said what it is that Nina Edge has done (sic).

Manderleyagain · 29/10/2018 13:07

I don't think the pair of art critic 'babygods' are students. Neither are they babies or Gods. Whether they are art critics is for someone else to judge.
I think they were just picking on this art critic for fun, or maybe for their own sense of power, not because she is their tutor.

Difranco123 · 29/10/2018 13:14

This may out me but I don’t care. I live in the Welsh Streets. The houses here were left derelict and were going to be demolished until local people stepped in and fought for them to be saved. It’s a really exciting project and a positive thing for a community that has had lots of problems in the past.

At the beginning of the Welsh Streets there is a big mural on the side of one of the houses, it’s the first thing people will see when they come to this area and it has been defaced by trans activists. It’s such a smack in the face for all the people, including Nina, who have worked hard to improve this place. I’ve been gender critical for a while now but seeing their “art work” on my way home last night has pushed me to be more vocal and take on these entitled idiots.

Nofedora · 29/10/2018 13:20

I wonder if there is anyway money could be raised to help Nina and/or take this matter forward

IfNotNowThenWooOoOoo · 29/10/2018 13:22

Jesus Christ Difranco.
That makes me SO angry. A community try hard to overcome adversity and make where they live better, and trans activists come and trash the place.
The narcissism is outrageous. And the blindness. They are not just oblivious to the challenges of working class people (or should that be "folk"?) They are actively attacking them.
So righteous. HmmAngry

PinaGrigio · 29/10/2018 13:31

That is shocking, Difranco and I'm so sorry to read that. How upsetting for you and the other residents. The level of entitlement is truly unbelievable in this lot.

SunsetBeetch · 29/10/2018 13:44

I wonder if amy of this has been driven by a tinge of jealousy too? Nina is obviously talented, and has engaged in actual activism.

Ps. These people aren't that young. The bratty art critics are 23, and the other person I linked to is 26.

RiverTam · 29/10/2018 13:51

These are two of the most spiteful women I have ever come across. But I believe they will get what's coming to them, in spades. I'm not going to write what I hope happens to them but it would be biblical.

Nasty, stupid, hateful little brats.

GenderApostate · 29/10/2018 13:54

According to Jennifer James they aren’t even students at LJM, which actually makes it even worse.

Nofedora · 29/10/2018 13:57

I have seen 12 year olds with more maturity. Spiteful little shits.

Ereshkigal · 29/10/2018 13:58

As ever, George Orwell was way ahead of the rest of us here.

So much this.

Difranco123 · 29/10/2018 13:59

Exactly IfNotNow, I doubt they gave a second thought to the people that live here. I hope it serves to make people less sympathetic to their cause.

BreakWindandFire · 29/10/2018 14:34

That's awful Difranco - do you have a picture of the damage done?

Juells · 29/10/2018 15:48

When a group of people decide to ostracise someone (which is what the student said they did) isn't that classed as bullying and excluding?

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 29/10/2018 16:12

Bang on, IfNotNow!

Juells · 29/10/2018 16:15

"We were just going to socially ostracise her until she felt to uncomfortable to continue teaching at the University.*

Who could object to that? [innocent face]

Another Woman Hounded Out of Employment...
Manderleyagain · 29/10/2018 16:22

Difranco. That's awful. The local press should be interested in this story, especially if there is a good visual of before and after of the mural. More people need to hear about what goes on. It wouldn't need any embellishment - just a straight deadpan description of the antics will be enough to open a few eyes.

hellandhairnets · 29/10/2018 16:32

I think they were just picking on this art critic for fun, or maybe for their own sense of power

Exactly. They and the other one are just getting a kick out of their own perceived power. They obviously never grew out of the school bullying mentality. What silly, privileged little girls.

I hope what's happened to the mural is widely publicised, Difranco. The selfish narcissism needs calling out. People like this do not deserve the time of day. They are certainly not "oppressed" in any way.

TheCountryGirl · 29/10/2018 16:47

That Heart creature is one stupid bastard.🤬

silkpyjamasallday · 29/10/2018 17:12

I have followed The White Pube for a while (I am no longer after this debacle), and I was quite shocked to see their Instagram stories inciting hatred against Nina, who from what I could see had not said anything remotely hateful. The TRAs have managed to get these women, who are supposedly trying to open up the art world, to hound a female artist and activist out of a job and subject her to trial by social media. It is pathetic cyber bullying, but has real world consequences for the victims. I'm the same age as them and I think it is very easy as a young woman to not realise the extent that we are still disadvantaged as a class, which is why so many go along with the TWAW shite.

I do believe they will look back at this and realise their foolishness and spitefulness. I'm sure if they happened to find themselves on the wrong side of the thought police they would be quite upset at having their livelihoods threatened and people whipping up internet trolls into a frenzy of digital hate mail.
