Gather LM is saying that they had to give up the previous post because they left the area (to go to Goldsmiths) but they're now standing for the women's officer post in Lewisham Deptford CLP. Voting is on Sunday, apparently.

And the token mentions of period poverty are insulting. As pointed out above, Lily has not actually done anything helpful. ‘Just a photo’. Pathetic.

Ereshkigal · 25/10/2018 10:29

Great post Joan. Really makes it starkly clear how much LM cares about this issue.

FekkoTheLawyer · 25/10/2018 10:49

I suspect if asked what period poverty is, Lily would struggle to explain. Especially without any self reference, self pity or attacking women for upsetting the girlzfeelz by discussing 'wimmins ikky stuff'

Let’s imagine a Labour Party so equal it no longer needs a Women’s Officer.

from one of the tweets from the link above.

THIS is what it's all about.

placemats · 25/10/2018 10:57

Posted too soon. What I wanted to add is this is the agenda behind this. It has nothing to do with equality and all to to with getting rid of those pesky women who take up the space that men so rightly deserve.

Efferlunt · 25/10/2018 11:08

Two candidates.

One with a 30 year track record who saved a much needed community resource from closure and works in it on a weekly basis.

One with no track record of achieving anything for women who phoned three schools to ask if they needed more sanitary products

Surely it’s no contest?

PerthaBley · 25/10/2018 11:14

Let’s imagine a Labour Party so equal it no longer needs a Women’s Officer.

And when everyone is a women, no one will be.

IKeepFlouncing · 25/10/2018 11:27

Don’t know if any uses local boards here on yes I’m going to NM might be worth promoting Gill. I using powers of twitter

Hopefully Gill given her community devotion will have lots of support amongst locals including mother&baby groups etc.

I worry for Gill because given how TRAs work that they won’t think twice if LM has a tantrum for losing and no doubt will see it as ‘victim’ opportunity. If Gill doesn’t get the vote in then it will be more proof of corruption that will see TRAs being plopped into every area over country to do this.

It shouldn’t even been up for vote!

placemats · 25/10/2018 11:57

I applaud Gill for taking the stand to put herself up for election in this post against Madigan.

Gill, if you are reading. You rock!

I can't vote because I'm not a member of the Labour Party anymore and I don't live in Lewisham Deptford.

Good luck!

🤮🤮
That’s how it makes me feel

Efferlunt · 25/10/2018 12:33

I’m surprised anyone could get goosebumps from a video which briefly outlined this candidate’s very minimal achievements.

Ereshkigal · 25/10/2018 12:37

Your voice is like honey!

Having heard Madigan speak I am boggling at this.

Gileswithachainsaw · 25/10/2018 12:40

And more how they always use "girl" in their response or comment on appearence in some way.

Who talks like that.

They don't believe it themselves or they wouldn't do it.

L goes home and laughS at how the sheep follow them.

FloralBunting · 25/10/2018 12:40

Is honey identifying as something else these days?

waterlego6064 · 25/10/2018 12:42

Joan, yes, absolutely! Almost all of the commenters seem to be young trans people or otherwise very woke young libfems.

Their mission is simply to make trans people feel great and special. Never mind actual politics; they don’t engage with that. Never mind whether Lily has enough experience for the role. For them, this is just about validating Lily’s identity, because it shows how deep and profound and accepting they are.

FloralBunting · 25/10/2018 12:43

It's quite blatantly obvious that the repeated 'girl' 'gal' 'gurl' references are simple validation cues. Marginally more subtle than a stabby-fingered "I am a woman and I'm going to keep saying until it penetrates!" But not a fat lot.

PerthaBley · 25/10/2018 12:43

Sounds like Americanisms to me.

Fallingirl · 25/10/2018 12:44

From the FB comments: ‘very few issues that pertain directly to having a womb, vagina or ovaries’

In other words, the men in momentum cannot see that women have any particukar issues for being women, so a man can represent women just fine.

The men have decided the Labour party no longer needs women’s officers, and if women disagree, they will be hounded by ‘compliance’.

waterlego6064 · 25/10/2018 12:45

And yes to the ‘go gurl’ thing. It’s the sort of thing people say to drag queens, isn’t it? Surely women don’t say it to other women?

RiverTam · 25/10/2018 12:45

the whole 'yaaaaaaaaaaaas!' does my head in, can't bear it.

waterlego6064 · 25/10/2018 12:45

Floral ‘validation cues’. Yes, exactly that.

FekkoTheLawyer · 25/10/2018 13:16

If someone had called me girl/gal/grrrrrl/grill when I was 20 I wouldn't have been very impressed. I would think that they were a teensy bit piss taking.

JoanSummers · 25/10/2018 14:19

Not sure why I was deleted as I didn't use anyone's twitter handle and they've made the posts publicly so..? I don't think I misgendered or used forbidden words either?

I'll check my email when I can but very confused by deletion of what seemed a relevant point about double standards in how politicians who aren't female are spoken to compared to those who are.

ScarletBegonias · 25/10/2018 14:35

Joan - for what it's worth, I thought your deleted post was spot on. I can't imagine why anyone thought it should be removed.
