Gather LM is saying that they had to give up the previous post because they left the area (to go to Goldsmiths) but they're now standing for the women's officer post in Lewisham Deptford CLP. Voting is on Sunday, apparently.

What's wrong with Madigan doing the LGBT role? Might even be good at that.

ShotsFired · 24/10/2018 19:57

Unlikely.

They wouldn't be speshul there.

GiantKitten · 24/10/2018 19:59

It’s all about the speshul with Lily & Lily’s fangirls 🙄

Needmoresleep · 24/10/2018 20:04

I heard similar about Brighton and the attempts to parachute Sophie Cook in over the heads of long serving volunteers who had campaigned hard for community services, knocked on doors during elections and so on.

Is Labour desperate to have the first trans MP?

NotANotMan · 24/10/2018 20:14

So

RogerAllamsFangirl · 24/10/2018 20:28

Is that Goldsmiths Labour? Hardly surprising. Lily is going to be busy with all these political posts. Hope the degree doesn't suffer.

JustABrokenDoll · 24/10/2018 20:29

Goldsmith's Women's Officer?

Says here they were running for LGBT Officer?

JustABrokenDoll · 24/10/2018 20:39

Oh hang on I misread that.

Was Lily already LGBTQ+ Officer and is now Women's Officer?

When do they find the time to study.

BettyDuMonde · 24/10/2018 20:45

That’s 4 different positions so far:

Labour BRANCH LGBT

Labour CLP Women’s Officer (not yet voted on)

Goldsmiths Labour (Student society) Women’s Officer

And

Goldsmiths NUS LGBT Officer (not yet voted on)

NoseringGirl · 24/10/2018 20:49

Sorry if this is a daft question, but what's the different between CLP and branch?

BettyDuMonde · 24/10/2018 20:58

Labour Branches are organised by council voting wards and CLPs (Constituency Labour Party) are organised by Parliamentary constituency.

Every labour member technically has both a branch and a CLP, although some branches are too small to organise effectively.

My local branch meetings usually attract around 10-15 people and CLP around 100-150

sorenipples · 24/10/2018 20:59

She didn't get the SU position. I presume they don't normally go to freshers

I hope she has time to study! I note she went for the lgbtq+ role not the trans one, presumably standing as a lesbian.

I presume Gil and women like her will do the grunt work of women's officer in the CLP whatever the result.

BettyDuMonde · 24/10/2018 21:03

I think the new SU LGBT officer (who beat Madigan), Edain Bradley, is the same SU LGBT Officer as last year.

Pretty certain it was Edain who condemned us to the luxury gulags...

NoseringGirl · 24/10/2018 21:05

Thanks Betty that all makes more sense now!

RiverTam · 24/10/2018 21:25

I notice that whilst they aren’t prepared to support Gill, they’re happy to use the centre she saved for their LGBTfuckingwhateveralphabetsoup and women’s group meetings. What a kick in the teeth for her.

RedToothBrush · 24/10/2018 21:28

Lily's playing pokemon with minor political role titles.

Gotta catch 'em all!

sorenipples · 24/10/2018 21:35

I see the new goldsmiths trans officer is going to be assessing course content

Good job they don't teach sciences

Lily didn't have a manifesto, but I'm sure if she did it would have been super cute.

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 24/10/2018 21:42

They do teach Psychology and do a lot of teacher training and social work training. I don't care as much what they teach in the Fine Art and Gender Studies departments but the first three above will be sending out people who could have key safeguarding roles in their professional lives.

whitershadeofpale · 24/10/2018 21:43

Is anyone going to Sunday's meeting?

I'm a local member but not very active as only moved here last year, I had other plans but feel as if i have to make the effort to go and vote for Gill.

FekkoTheLawyer · 24/10/2018 21:47

I dunno - life drawing classes must be interesting

What's that?
That's the models penis
Oh no no no no no nonnnnooooo. Jocasta is a lady model
Are you Sure? The model was naked after all
No penis, nothing to see there. Where are her breasts?
Er the model was male? He didnt have...
You're off the course...

Needmoresleep · 24/10/2018 21:48

So on a maths course where they used study binary numbers they now study non-binary?

MsMcWoodle · 24/10/2018 21:55

Not sure if this has been drawn attention to elsewhere:

Lily M standing as women's officer again
MsMcWoodle · 24/10/2018 21:56

And this:

TigerDrankAllTheWaterInTheTap · 24/10/2018 21:56

Fekko Grin

I am no expert on Fine Art but I had the impression that Goldsmith's doesn't bother with anything as old-fashioned as life drawing. Happy to be corrected on this, obviously, if anyone knows what they cover.

Nauticant, they don't have a Maths dept but do seem to do Computer Science and I expect they offer Maths PGCE, so plenty of opportunities there to subvert the numerical binary!

FekkoTheLawyer · 24/10/2018 21:56

Ah yes, Ellen.
