IMPORTANT NOTICE - It is with regret that we have to announce that our meeting in Leeds cannot go ahead due to late and unreasonable cancellation. We will be emailing attendees shortly with more information. We condemn this act of silencing women. More to follow.

Excellent that you’re going ahead. I bet you’ll get far more coverthan if you’d been hidden away inside the Civic Hall. Another own goal by the TRA lobby.

SunsetBeetch · 28/09/2018 18:56

It's going to be Postergate all.over again!

Pacers · 28/09/2018 18:57

This is outrageous.

I don’t have a Twitter account, but have looked on Janice Turner’s thread and the editor of the Yorkshire Post seems to be asking a reporter to look at the story.

breastfeedingclownfish · 28/09/2018 18:58

Fuck sake. It only makes me more determined. Fuck them

TheElementsSong · 28/09/2018 19:01

I hope everyone gathering outside the civic hall stays safe. What happens if the council call the police to disperse the women gathering?

🤔 Actually on second thoughts, that would make pretty ironic optics given the council’s tweet about the suffragettes.

Angryresister · 28/09/2018 19:16

Awful, but not surprising given the things that seem to have become acceptable in Leeds and the organisations involved in trying to shut down women's voices. We are angry and we are not going to shut up.

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 28/09/2018 19:31

We’ve found an alternative venue! Meeting getting ready to start.

BlackeyedSusan · 28/09/2018 19:33

excellent.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 28/09/2018 19:34

go you magnificent women

make those fucking hypocrites regret their actions

be dignified, be open and be fucking HEARD

I am shaking with anger over this

Anlaf · 28/09/2018 19:34

💚🗯💜

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 28/09/2018 19:36

woah! just seen the post about the alternative venue!

and yet she persisted

SPOFS · 28/09/2018 19:36

Let's turn this into another own-goal for the TRAs. Has this been sent to the Daily Mail, Times, Spectator, etc.?

Knicknackpaddyflak · 28/09/2018 19:44

Someone mentioned about been chained to railings and going on hunger strike. Is this really what women will have to do in order to be bloody well heard?

I warned my other half last night that at some point one of us will have to walk under a fucking racehorse.

Leeds. No place for Women.

#youshamefulbastards

2rebecca · 28/09/2018 19:44

Getting our meetings shut down and posters taken down shows their intolerance. They'd do better ignoring us and having large meetings and posters of their own and concentrating on progressing their views rather than trying to stop ours being heard

speakingwoman · 28/09/2018 19:45

Well done, I’m really sorry about this

FermatsTheorem · 28/09/2018 19:46

Great work with the alternative venue.

I should say I lived in Leeds for Finley's years and love the place and it's people - but the city council and the institutions with the power are a shower of shite.

Power to the brave women attending tonight.

gendercritter · 28/09/2018 19:46

I was so angry reading this but now I just think 'you utter wazzocks.' Anyone doing any research into the meeting will see that it was going to be quite reasonable and straightforward. Lots of people watching on will only look at the council's actions and think what the hell? There was no reason to prevent them meeting at all. It will only add to our growing numbers. V glad to hear another venue was found.

Ereshkigal · 28/09/2018 19:48

Oh that's brilliant that you've found a new venue. Courage calls to courage Thanks

Ereshkigal · 28/09/2018 19:50

I warned my other half last night that at some point one of us will have to walk under a fucking racehorse.

It really is looking like it.

Ereshkigal · 28/09/2018 19:51

They'd do better ignoring us and having large meetings and posters of their own

They know most people agree broadly with us and that we're more convincing. They won't admit it but they do.

ApocalypseNowt · 28/09/2018 19:53

I'm in Leeds and have just seen a group walk past with 'GRA does not threaten women's rights' placards Sad

I was hoping to run into your group tbh. Stay strong ladies, we're not all bad in Leeds!

Manderleyagain · 28/09/2018 19:54

2rebecca. Saggy Don't tell them!

Manderleyagain · 28/09/2018 19:54

Sorry that was ssshhh not saggy!

ToeToToe · 28/09/2018 19:58

Wooohoo Grin

Up the women!

AngryAttackKittens · 28/09/2018 20:02

So the home of West Yorkshire Police and their oddly politicized Twitter account, Mermaids, MESMAC, and the "managed zone" in which women can be kidnapped and raped and it's OK because the rapist thought they were a prostitute has decided that it doesn't like uppity women talking out of line? I am so shocked.

The concentration of anti-woman behavior in that area needs looking into. By outsiders, since clearly the force that oversaw Rotherham and interviewed Sutcliffe 9 times before actually charging him couldn't find its own arse with both hands and a map.
