IMPORTANT NOTICE - It is with regret that we have to announce that our meeting in Leeds cannot go ahead due to late and unreasonable cancellation. We will be emailing attendees shortly with more information. We condemn this act of silencing women. More to follow.

Oh and I forgot, the other point you had was to prevent the WPUK meeting from taking place, you failed on that one. In fact that is actually the only point you didn't achieve.

Popchyk · 03/10/2018 20:39

How come you didn't want to talk to The Times, RJFirth?

That would have been a great opportunity for you to get across your objections to WPUK.

What are those objections by the way?

Datun · 03/10/2018 20:46

RJFirth

I am vastly interested in what part of the WPUK content you find transphobic.

You are talking to 12,000,000 people.

Take the stage

.

pombear · 03/10/2018 20:48

RJ you hollered me a while back and I really couldn't be arsed to reply to you, given your form.

However, I just wanted to pop in and say hi, and that I'm a mum, as are many of us here.

Your publicly available spat over Leeds WPUK LCC fiasco, of your 'he said/she said' changing stories, 'they did it, it wasn't me, they staged it all probably' and now your 'we'd already won, that's why we didn't go' is sooo reminiscent of handling younger children when they're trying to backtrack to drawing on the wall, pooing in the garden, or pulling someone's hair.

I think you may have misunderstood your audience here!

Popchyk · 03/10/2018 20:50

I'm sure Richard will set the record straight, pombear.

That's why he's here.

pombear · 03/10/2018 23:11

Popchyk

Hmm, not sure, given the normal trajectory as per previous posts, I predict a 'standing in the corner and shouting "it's not fair, it's not fair" would normally be the next step!

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 04/10/2018 00:02

That's a very good point Datun. You have the ear of 12,000,000 people here RJ, a preposterous number of people and we'd love to hear from you. We are very open minded and tolerant here on MN.

Iused2BanOptimist · 04/10/2018 00:09

Where is the link for the YouTube of this meeting I watched some of it at the weekend but I can't find it anywhere now?

PlonitbatPlonit · 04/10/2018 00:17

Film of the meeting hasn't been published yet. It wasn't livestreamed.

Iused2BanOptimist · 04/10/2018 00:51

Plonitbat I'm really confused now. What did I watch on Saturday morning?? Must have been a previous one then I suppose.

Floisme · 04/10/2018 07:17

Is this the RJFirth who buys tickets for meetings so he can try and stop women talking?

Has he joined Mumsnet to supervise us?

PlonitbatPlonit · 04/10/2018 07:27

There was another meeting in Manchester on the same night. The wpuk meeting was in Leeds

BingBongSong · 04/10/2018 14:10

Iused2BanOptimist, if you want to watch the Manchester meeting, it's on Youtube .

MipMipMip · 04/10/2018 23:17

Just saw on the news about the Leeds celebration of light and their suffragette parade. Angry

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 05/10/2018 00:03

The irony and ignorance of Leeds CC is beyond words.

homoseXXualmum · 05/10/2018 12:06

theculturevulture.co.uk/conversations/debate-leeds-city-council-censor-strikes-again/ Has anyone read this one?

StroppyWoman · 05/10/2018 14:26

WichBitchHarpy It was really noticeable, wasn't it, the change in the TRA behaviour as we left? So little self-awareness.

After we'd done the protest and taken some photos PLUS secured another venue, we took down the banners and ribbons and packed them away. We were halfway through doing that then they started chanting "Terfs, go home" and cheering as if it were a victory.
Like, dudes, we ARE going. You're literally watching us pack up. Yelling GO HOME to people in the process of going home is like yelling "And stay out" to someone who left.

We left in small groups via different routes to the pub. Once they had more than double our numbers, they suddenly got all bold, and started doing the conga around us. Big, brave TRAs, getting close to the middle aged women once most had left. It was so juvenile.

I've done plenty of protesting in my time, and it was pitiful display.

D- Could Try Harder.

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 06/10/2018 14:19

High 5 Stroppy!

RJFirth · 08/10/2018 22:23

Sorry I was down in Bristol for conference and only got back this afternoon.

Getting the meeting shut down was never my intent; I just planned to protest it. I didn't even know there was an organised protest until the week before.
I was a bit surprised when the venue turned out to be Civic Hall. I'd narrowed it down to a few pubs and ironically the Victoria Hotel was in my top 3 likely places. I was the quickest to social media, dropped the location details to our group and Jess Lennox happened to see it and sent e-mails and the rest is history.

My beef with WPUK is that in the past they have given a platform to speakers who have made anti-trans comments.

KatVonGulag · 08/10/2018 22:32

stroppy
They really did the conga? Around a small group of women?
That's utterly ludicrous behaviour.

littlbrowndog · 08/10/2018 22:32

What about the salty terf tears we saw you gloating about
Jeez

KatVonGulag · 08/10/2018 22:33

Oh hiya Richard
Well done for highlighting this issue to a much wider audience. That's what you get for attempting to shut down free speech.

pombear · 08/10/2018 22:55

Oh Richard.

See what I said further down the thread, about how many of us are mums and recognise patterns of behaviour?

Like I said before,

  • your publicly available spat over Leeds WPUK LCC fiasco
  • your 'he said/she said' changing stories,
  • your they did it, it wasn't me, they staged it all probably'
  • and now your 'we'd already won, that's why we didn't go'
is sooo reminiscent of handling younger children when they're trying to backtrack to drawing on the wall, pooing in the garden, or pulling someone's hair.

Your latest post sounds like someone in Bristol has had a bit of a 'parent to child' chat with you, and you're now at the stage of it wasn't me at all, I was just standing on the sidelines, accidentally slipped and fell with my fist out.

I'm less interested in your 'beef' with WPUK - more interested in your 'beef' against women and girls rights vs trans demands for privileges that trample over those women's and girl's rights.

If transwomen are 'women' and therefore just, well, women, you seem extremely quiet on your campaiging for women.

Just passionate about transwomen.

Who we should all accept are apparently women. So shouldn't need additional campaigning for over and above women's campaigns, because they are, just, women.

Or maybe they're not?

Campervan69 · 07/09/2019 22:58

There were a lot of males out today in Leeds protesting against lesbians having their own march

Here is one from @TheGreenParty

This lesbophobia and misogynistic behaviour should have no place in the party
