Posie was brilliant on Sky, please bring her back.

CatelynStark · 27/09/2018 11:35

I’ve bought the t shirt and am appalled that she’s banned for being too tiresome. Shouldn’t she be applauded for that!?

DogTiredNow · 27/09/2018 11:36

What a disappointing, yet predictable, reply.

Perhaps it's time we collectively made a more feminist friendly board of our own and leave MN where it belongs, in the dark ages.

DogTiredNow · 27/09/2018 11:38

What mumsnet are saying is :

We are women but we would rather oppress one of our own than put in the work combating the relentless reports to her freedom of speech or defend her.

Hmm
WrongOnTInternet · 27/09/2018 11:42

Be fair. They are saying that the ban was for more than just woman= adult human female. Mumsnet are in a difficult position here, you know they are.

GobKnobbler · 27/09/2018 11:44

Agreed

YogaDrone · 27/09/2018 11:45

Oh shit, yes, why didn't we think how exhausting it must be for you MNHQ - having to sit around blocking free speech and having your eyes water at the posts which try to uphold woman's rights and flagrantly state the biological fact that woman = adult human female.

Well, you've convinced me.

Pesky bloody demanding people of the sex category formally globally understood as women.

I agree that Posie was awesome on Sky news yesterday Wine Flowers

I've just ordered t-shirts and stickers from Standing for Women. If it arrives in time I plan to wear it to my first WEP branch meeting Smile

DogTiredNow · 27/09/2018 11:50

Anyone know what the sizing is like on the t-shirts? Will my tubby bum fit in an XXL at size 20?

OwThatsGottaHurt · 27/09/2018 11:58

Bring her back! Or at least give her the choice!

wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 27/09/2018 12:00

What a shame that mnhq won't reconsider.

rightreckoner · 27/09/2018 12:03

Exhausting? FGS this is your job.

It's exhausting having to fight this battle and explain to people why woman = woman.

Tartyflette · 27/09/2018 12:05

@MNHQ
What a limp and disappointing response.
You're saying you have banned PP/MaryZ because they were essentially a pain in the arse and that their calling you out on things was 'exhausting and pretty toxic for the people who work here.'
Leaving aside the issue of moderators who have their own agenda or cannot cope with often-robust discussions on this, your response is unsettling for the rest of us who have legitimate concerns about the issue of self-ID, wish to communicate those concerns on here, and sometimes get very angry about it.
And, lest we forget -- "well behaved women seldom make history."

traceyracer · 27/09/2018 12:06

What did she say to get banned?

onedayiwillmissthis · 27/09/2018 12:11

I don't agree with any woman being banned for stating simple truths. That was/is all that Posie Parker is doing. MNHQ should remove the ban and stand with Posie and support women.

WrongOnTInternet · 27/09/2018 12:20

That was/is all that Posie Parker is doing.

It sounds like it was rather more than that.

Look at it this way: Posie is currently free to fight dirty, raise awareness any which way everywhere, then when things are settling out and politicians start to wonder what happened MN, and by extension people on here, are free to be the moderate voice and change laws.

AnyFucker · 27/09/2018 12:25

Err hello ??

Moderate voices do not change laws.

WrongOnTInternet · 27/09/2018 12:27

Not right now, perhaps, but they are the people who write them after a battle.

WrongOnTInternet · 27/09/2018 12:28

Or they can be.

Martin Luther King Jr. Letter from a Birmingham Jail

You may well ask: "Why direct action? Why sit ins, marches and so forth? Isn't negotiation a better path?" You are quite right in calling for negotiation. Indeed, this is the very purpose of direct action. Nonviolent direct action seeks to create such a crisis and foster such a tension that a community which has constantly refused to negotiate is forced to confront the issue. It seeks so to dramatize the issue that it can no longer be ignored. My citing the creation of tension as part of the work of the nonviolent resister may sound rather shocking. But I must confess that I am not afraid of the word "tension." I have earnestly opposed violent tension, but there is a type of constructive, nonviolent tension which is necessary for growth...we see the need for nonviolent gadflies to create the kind of tension in society that will help men rise from the dark depths of prejudice and racism to the majestic heights of understanding and brotherhood. The purpose of our direct action program is to create a situation so crisis packed that it will inevitably open the door to negotiation. I therefore concur with you in your call for negotiation. Too long has our beloved Southland been bogged down in a tragic effort to live in monologue rather than dialogue.” ...

I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season." Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.

AnyFucker · 27/09/2018 12:39

Amen

KittyPerry77 · 27/09/2018 12:41

Couldn't she just register with a new account if she wanted to?

OwThatsGottaHurt · 27/09/2018 12:44

Thank you for attaching that Arranfan- that is really inspiring. And so relevant today.

MardyBra · 27/09/2018 12:44

In the interest of free speech, bring her back.

DogTiredNow · 27/09/2018 12:46

Maybe Kitty but she would soon be outed by her words and banned again. She needs to be officially allowed back.
