Did I do a wrong thing by donating?

I see the crowd funding thread has been deleted. Message from MNHQ re not allowing campaigns not from registered charities etc.

Have I been had? Now panicking about doxxing etc. I just wanted to help. I'm not that savvy really Blush

First Cook the plums then add the sugar. Boil until setting point is reached.

Oh, sorry! Wrong thread - this is the one about the crowd finder for FairPlay for women isn't it? Sorry.

SophoclesTheFox · 21/09/2018 18:50

Who left this thread here for people to fall over?!

JackyHolyoake · 21/09/2018 19:27

Well .. y'all .. I came across this web site that's named fairplayforwomen dot com and in the bar at the top of the page it has a link that says 'Donate'. So, being a curiious woman I clicked that link and, guess what?

You can give money to pay for more printing of leaflets, for video production and for bright red T-shirts that say "Hands Off My Rights".

So, anyway, this Donate page has a Paypal link and I was able to give some dosh so easily. And then Paypal even sends you an email to confirm your donation. How whizzy is that?

Fund is now over £6500.! Aiming to reach £10,000.

Don't you just love the Internet sometimes?

DuggeesWoggle · 21/09/2018 21:17

I am appalled at such blatant thread bumping.

I believe the mermaids site also as one of these donate buttons at the top of its site too. they are indeed very useful for donating to orginasations that help people.

FloralBunting · 21/09/2018 21:29

Oh Bespin, you are funny.

I love donate buttons. And I hear Fair Play for Women have one. I'm very keen on helping women and girls.

Just a random thought on a thread here in Feminism and Women's Rights.

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 21/09/2018 21:31

they are indeed very useful for donating to orginasations that help people.

Unlike Mermaids then.

FlaviaAlbia · 22/09/2018 09:13

Fair Play has never been ordered by a judge to stay away from a child. Or had a member out a mother who was posting about her child.

I think that's a baseline all 'helpful' organisations should aim for tbh.

LangCleg · 22/09/2018 09:21

Mermaids? Are they the people who think adults should keep secrets for gender-questioning children, thereby putting them at increased risk of infiltrating abusers? I think I'll pass, thanks, Bespin.

Does anybody perchance know of a better donate button I could use?

FloralBunting · 22/09/2018 09:28

I think Fair Play for Women do, but you'd have to go to their website and check.

LangCleg · 22/09/2018 09:37

Thanks for the tip, Floral. I'd never have realised otherwise.

Molokonono · 22/09/2018 09:58

I came back from my holidays yesterday - a 9 hour ferry trip and it was bumpy.

It made me think of this thread.

No idea why.

averylongtimeago · 22/09/2018 10:49

Bumpy? Oh dear was that anything to do with that huge storm?

not bumping this thread about FairPlay for women's crowdfunder at all oh no

disorganisedXX · 22/09/2018 13:56

bump! oh scuse me...

Molokonono · 22/09/2018 13:58

Bumpy? Oh dear was that anything to do with that huge storm?

Apparently it was...stormy and bumpy.

I went Envy around 30 mins into it and had to lie down for the whole trip.

HawkeyeInConfusion · 22/09/2018 14:20

I just bumped into the doorframe.

My spacial awareness is rubbish sometimes.

DoorbellsSleighbellsSchnitzel · 22/09/2018 14:44

Gosh this donating stuff is ever so easy, isn't it! I've just clicked a few buttons that I found on a website called Fair Play For Women.

Molokonono · 22/09/2018 17:40

I was pleased to come home, to use my Mr Bump mug. I have missed it.

Oops did I say Mr Bump? I mean My Grumpy.

Silly me.

Molokonono · 22/09/2018 17:41

Did I say My Grumpy.

Mr Grumpy.

Silly me.

Bespin · 22/09/2018 22:36

I mean you could donate money to pay for a inflatable penis man and a billboard that no one sees. or you could donate to charities that run groups that actually help young people or even any other lgbt orginasations that use the funds to help vunrable people.

Do you know any such groups, Bespin? Ones that don't put vulnerable young people at risk by ignoring safeguarding frameworks, I mean?

Bespin · 22/09/2018 22:46

barnardos run some great groups for lgbt young people, I'd start with them.

FloralBunting · 22/09/2018 22:46

Women, feel free to donate your money to as many different organizations as you wish. There are many that help vulnerable young people. (Be careful they aren't actually creepy grooming groups though, that would be a waste of money)

I hear Fair Play For Women are quite a useful bet for a donation, though, as they wish to protect the rights of women and girls, which is a very worthy cause.

Does anyone know if they have a fundraiser at the moment?
