I love this. Particularly her point about cognitive dissonance.

OP posts:

Wonderful, every heartfelt, rational , sincere and caring word of it !

BlackeyedSusan · 12/09/2018 00:26

love the moving of the toilet sign...

I wish I could rant with even a tenth of the eloquence Posie can.

I picked up the point she made (I'm paraphrasing) that the moment a girl gets to the point of not wanting a boy in the girls' toilets, she's then told she must be kind or else she'll have to go somewhere else (and also be "educated").

I'd have to watch it again to capture her words exactly, but it was something like: It's not exclusionary to say no to penises in girls' and women's safe spaces, it's inclusionary of girls and women only.

OlennasWimple · 12/09/2018 00:47

when i grow up I want to be Posie. Including the lovely sewing bag and pile of gorgeous fabric

DoYouLikeBasghetti · 12/09/2018 01:17

She's great Grin

Jux · 12/09/2018 01:45

It's so depressing that we need people like PP to say these things. I grew up in the 60s and Women's Lib was THE thing.

I was delighted in the 70s when kerb crawling was outlawed, and delighted again when marital rape was outlawed, and again when sexual harrassment was no longer OK.

And now, when I thought the world for my own dd would be a better place for her and other females to live in, we have this instead. Penises in women's traditionally safe places.

Loos were sacrosanct even back in my day. Sad

Fallingirl · 12/09/2018 02:10

Your point about rape just made me wonder whether anyone has considered whether rape law needs to change. My understanding is that currently, the only assault that is legally classified as ‘rape’, is penetration with a penis.

Will it be legal to ‘out’ someone as trans, if that trans person rapes someone, which by definition means they must have a penis?

BitOfFun · 12/09/2018 02:30

I clocked the fabric too, OleannasWimple Grin. She's just great.

tobee · 12/09/2018 04:18

Aww shit! I was gonna just watch for 5 minutes (coz the ridiculous lateness of the hour) but I couldn't stop, and just finished watching. It was very funny, true and articulate. Brilliant!

GulagMilkMonitor · 12/09/2018 05:06

She is incredible.

Datun · 12/09/2018 05:49

It's outrageous that a woman being angry over the invasion of women's spaces feels liberating and courageous.

It should feel normal.

Excellently done, Posie.

GulagMilkMonitor · 12/09/2018 05:52

I have to agree. How suppressed our voices have become by men and their literal (and I do mean literal) violence.

PerverseConverse · 12/09/2018 07:14

I love the way she refers to actual men as actual men. I love the way she refuses to ignore biological reality and actual genitals even though she is accused of being obsessed by them (that other woman obviously fears genitals). The whole thing is just brilliant.

GColdtimer · 12/09/2018 07:37

Two FB friends sent this to me privately. I have been sharing shit loads recently with very little engagement from people so I thought I was talking to the wall but it's obviously raising awareness somewhere.

PerverseConverse · 12/09/2018 07:46

@twofalls it's raising awareness in my daughters as I'll show it to them, it's raising awareness in the parents who are objecting to unisex toilets in schools, it's raising awareness in anyone on my Facebook who watches and hopefully shares. It's raised awareness in me and put so well what I've been trying to take away from the debates on here.

PerverseConverse · 12/09/2018 07:57

Private message from Posie (with her permission to quote and share):

"Wow. I feel rather overwhelmed! Tell all I am permanently banned for the Stella Creasy thread, apparently saying “if she answers any questions about the definition of woman I’ll drink a bottle of Prosecco through my nose” is not allowed."

BeyondAnOmnishambles · 12/09/2018 07:58

Stickerladiesoftheworldunite · 12/09/2018 07:58

love the moving of the toilet sign...

Classic. Going in for a second watch.

PersistenceIsNotFutile · 12/09/2018 07:59

Oh MNHQ. What are you doing?

BettyDuMonde · 12/09/2018 08:05

Did she say ‘Non binary fucks’ or did I mishear?

Made me LOL on the bus Grin

deepwatersolo · 12/09/2018 08:07

if she answers any questions about the definition of woman I’ll drink a bottle of Prosecco through my nose

But this is the crux, isn't it? I was on the fence regarding TWAW, 'cause compassion and all, but when it dawned on me that nobody of the TWAW was capable of giving any reasonable (noncircular, objectifyable) definition of 'woman', I was so over with that.

At this point it becomes a quesiton of intellectual honesty, and whether you believe, language is there to have a dialogue using defined words or whether language is there for ruling over people and forcing them to say nonsensical stuff because you have the power.

Datun · 12/09/2018 08:08

Posie is permanently banned? What, forever? Not just the six weeks.

Fucking hell.

The sheer number of women who are being silenced is bloody frightening. Twitter are determined to banish as many as possible, including Posie. And now mumsnet?

BeUpStanding · 12/09/2018 08:20

Posie is permanently banned?! That's outrageous!

IAmLurkacus · 12/09/2018 08:32

"Wow. I feel rather overwhelmed! Tell all I am permanently banned for the Stella Creasy thread, apparently saying “if she answers any questions about the definition of woman I’ll drink a bottle of Prosecco through my nose” is not allowed."

Fucking hell! What a surprise that Stella is such a fan of Lucy Powell’s attack on free speech! I assume the definition of ‘chamber of hate’ is women rightfully pointing out that Stella Creasy is a self serving, lobotomised fuckwit?

IAmLurkacus · 12/09/2018 08:33

Oh and 👋 daily mail 👋 joani walsh know you’re here. I think your readers would really like that quote from Posie, the fact that Posie’s been banned and Stella Creasy’s attacks on free speech.
