No direct accusations against Edward Lord (the 'non-binary' freemason who is trying to remove single-sex spaces in London) but here he is describing as a "hero" a man who was a member of the Paedophile Information Exchange (PIE) and is a continuing "advocate" for paedophiles:

I wasn't swearing at people here, just my linking

OldCrone · 02/09/2018 10:55

bacp guide still available as a pdf here

Surely swearing at uncooperative technology is a fine MN tradition.

(Should be, if not)

R0wantrees · 02/09/2018 10:57

found it!
Sunday Telegraph today, 'Women are emotional and concerned with appearance - unless they're northern, say counsellors'

(Kathleen Stock & Sophie Walker quoted)
concludes:
A spokeswoman for BACP said: "We are aware that some of these topics can be controversial and these documents are meant to support practitioners, and encourage further discussion with their supervisors and colleagues - not to replace it.

"We, of course, apologise if anyone is offended by the content in this guide, this is not something that we would ever intend to do.

"We are currently in the process of revising this guidance and are in contact with a range of different specialists, who are looking to add their expertise to the document.

"We welcome this and will also be speaking to our members to ensure that we can produce the best guidance possible on this topic."

Someone needs to educate the writer of the Telegraph article, Oliver Rudgard, about Stonewall's umbrella. Her "In brief Transgender issues" is very poor.

No mention of the GRA consultation.

Mail on Sunday, 'Women are 'emotional and concerned with their appearances'... unless they are northern, say therapist guidelines branded 'ludicrous and dangerous'
(extract)
"The page of the document titled Gender Identity: Woman was tweeted by activist Karen Smith, who branded it: 'Sexist bullsh*t'." (continues)

Restorative justice for domestic violence. Apologies, this is paywalled, but my interest comes from a different angle (because obviously sitting down with the man who abused you is insanity). I saw this on twitter, posted by a friend, and somewhere down a rather long thread someone asserted that "restorative justice is big business". A very cursory Google brought up a lot of NGOs, non-profits and "social enterprises", along with millions in DoJ funding.

It could be nothing. I could be barking up the wrong tree entirely and this has no links to any of the dismantling of rights we're seeing. But I am wondering why people like Jess and Ada are so very keen on RJ and whether there's more to it than sweeping away jail time. Are there dots to be joined and money to be followed?

R0wantrees · 02/09/2018 11:10

I hope (though am doubtful) that both journalists have actually read the whole document rather than just responding to the Tweeted extract.

Charliethefeminist · 02/09/2018 11:11

I thought the piece was good - two senior feminists expressing critical and gender critical views, and the defence from back up without any reaching out to the TRA. Also brave of Olivia to byline it. I like this, it's a piece of normal reporting without fear or favour, as trans issue reporting should have been from the get go.

Also from Sunday Telegraph today, article:
'My husband's a paedophile – but I still love him'
(Extract)
The national picture is obviously murky, but by any available measure, this is one of Britain’s fastest-growing crimes. Government figures released late last year revealed a 700 per cent increase in the number of indecent images referred to law enforcement agencies since 2013.

Police now arrest an average of 400 people every month for viewing child abuse material. Most are men, but confound other stereotypes.

“We see men of all ages and backgrounds, family men and respectable professionals,” said West Yorkshire police assistant chief constable, Catherine Hankinson. The 149 adults they arrested last year included four company directors, two solicitors and four tech professionals." (continues)

Backup I mean bacp.

Also that insert box. That looks very 'pro forma, tweak it on the day' to me. This bit

ransgender
Transgender’ is the umbrella term for people who identify with a different gender from the one they were assigned at birth – often diagnosed as ‘gender dysphoria’. The term ‘transsexual’ refers more specifically to someone who has had medical intervention, and is considered archaic

is very much 'we had our diversity training thank you'. Media orgs were told very early on that transexual is offensive and outdated (because after all you can't have transexual kids but you can have transgender kids).

TimeLady · 02/09/2018 11:27

Just because PIE was disbanded in 1984, it doesn't mean those interested in paedophilia have magically gone away. The internet has undoubtedly made it easier to view material and interact with others.

As parents and grandparents, we need to be mindful and vigilant, and if our spidey-senses are tingling, call it out. Mine certainly are, reading some recent reports.

Kyanite · 02/09/2018 11:31

BACP need experts to investigate what a woman is...

Ereshkigal · 02/09/2018 11:31

Allegedly Lib Dem TRA furry AB involvement with Aimee Challenor too:

It's not even a tingle, it's a fucking klaxon.

ToeToToe · 02/09/2018 11:42

It's not even a tingle, it's a fucking klaxon.

It's like a parade of giant red flags flying from the HQ of every political party in the UK. And they're like "I see no red flags."

longwayoff · 02/09/2018 11:43

Im sure you're correct timelady. I attempted to start a thread a few days ago re £75 fine above asking to support a petition to ensure DV is adequately dealt with in court instead of trivializing womens experiences. V few responses. If anyone wants to support it its still around on MN in AIBU

ToeToToe · 02/09/2018 11:55

God, I've just realised I rarely venture onto AIBU anymore - unless something in Trending catches my eye.

I didn't see your thread at all, longwayoff.

ShrodingersSturdyPyjamas · 02/09/2018 12:03

Me neither.

When I first came onto MN I thought the feminist areas were like dust bowls...now they are like a street market that has so many treats you just don't know where to start.

Haworthia · 02/09/2018 12:05

Am I mad or are these period fetishists flirting with Toxic Shock and all manner of disease risk? A constructed neovagina isn't the most bacterially balanced place as it is from all accounts

Apologies to take the discussion back several hours, but I just wanted to point out that there’s no way these fetishists have undergone genital reassignment surgery. I took it as a given that when they were talking about their “pussy” and wearing tampons, they mean up their arse. None of these fetishists would even want genital surgery, because that would hamper their wanking too much.

January 2016 Liverpool Echo Interview with Tara Hewitt:
'What it's like to be Transgender and Catholic
Tara Hewitt, NHS equality and diversity advisor, doesn't believe in abortion or IVF but says it doesn't affect her job'

(extract)
"Tara, who lives in New Brighton, is also a pansexual, which means she is attracted to any gender.

But, although she supports gay marriage and same-sex adoption, she doesn’t believe in IVF.

“None of my views are based on sexual orientation I support love.

“Millions of people share my view but, because they aren’t trans, they aren’t targetted.

“It’s hard being right wing and trans, I get attacked from both sides.”

Tara was on the Conservative Party candidate list in the last election and came under fire when a Sun report ‘revealed’ her sexual fetishes.

Hewitt reportedly described herself as an “advocate of the BDSM (bondage, discipline and sadomasochism) community”, and into “swinging” and “pet play”, which is dressing up as an animal for sex." (continues)

As well as advising NHS, Tara Hewitt also was a co-founder of TELI, with Jess Bradley and consulted on the trans rights good practice guide for Social Workers and Foster Carers supporting Looked After Children questioning their gender identity , discussed on thread:
