Good luck everyone.

smeerf · 30/11/2018 08:57

I was planning on attending this and then heading to Let A Woman Speak, as I managed to get a ticket for it before it sold out.

Sadly I have come down with an horrible vomiting bug (thanks DS!) so I have one ticket to LAWS going spare. Please PM me if you're interested, no payment required.

BirdseyeFrozen · 30/11/2018 09:01

All good wishes everyone.
Tell Linda that I will not be earing my glasses this morning as a gesture of solidarity.
grrrr!

doctorbarbie · 30/11/2018 09:21

Good luck today. I will be there tonight and can't wait.

RiverTam · 30/11/2018 09:22

Good luck to Venice and Linda.

TheClitterati · 30/11/2018 09:34

NoseringGirl · 30/11/2018 09:40

Wishing Linda and Venice all the best. Any updates from the protest this morning?

It appears the trans activists didn't want to get out of bed.

RiverTam · 30/11/2018 09:45

great signs!

Popchyk · 30/11/2018 09:47

Yay.

Glad to see the support for Linda and Venice.

Ereshkigal · 30/11/2018 09:50

Grin imagine my shock!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 30/11/2018 09:55

OMG those banners! Beautiful.

Orsinia · 30/11/2018 09:58

Solidarity with Linda and Venice this morning x

arranbubonicplague · 30/11/2018 09:58

OMG those banners! Beautiful.

Leeds Spinners do craftivism meetings - I envy those near enough to attend. Grin

Datun · 30/11/2018 10:00

@smeerf

If you've still got your ticket, can you return it via the laws website, I think it is? As there is a waiting list, and it seems the fairest way.

Plus revealing details through private messaging can be a bit dodgy.

OrchidInTheSun · 30/11/2018 10:03

What gorgeous banners ❤️
Childcare duties prevent me from being there during the day but looking forward to seeing you all at LAWS this evening.

NoseringGirl · 30/11/2018 10:04

Love those banners!
Creased at the TRAs not making it out of bed Grin

Melamin · 30/11/2018 10:06

It appears the trans activists didn't want to get out of bed.

Reverting to stereotype then.

I hope the slow wheels of justice chuck this out with the finality it deserves. It is a ridiculous situation.

Nice banners Grin

Can someone please remind me what 'crimes' these women committed?

ErrolTheDragon · 30/11/2018 10:14

The crime of being quoted out of context, IIRC.

smeerf · 30/11/2018 10:14

@datun I was under the impression they weren't operating a waiting list but I might be mistaken. It didn't occur to me that people might not want to reveal their email address, I'll return it that way then.

Speaking after the assault on Maria Mc, Linda Bellos said that if a TRA attempted to hit her, she'd take her glasses off and fight back. She recounted some stories of being taught to box and having to fight racists literally in the street in her childhood.

Linda is prosecuted for causing fear and alarm by offering violence. An edited version of the video exists that strips context and is being construed as Linda threatening to "bash" TRAs rather than defend herself.

Venice is being prosecuted for transmitting the broadcast/uploading the video.

Some details might be awry but that's essentially it.

FloralCup · 30/11/2018 10:19

Thanks Errol and Arran.
Are they being tried together? Surely they are different events.
Being brought to court for saying you'll defend yourself is ridiculous.

Linda said it during the talk - Venice is being held responsible for broadcasting the (unedited) talk.

CPA declined to prosecute which is why it's a private prosecution.

Faceicle · 30/11/2018 10:27

I'm dying to know what's happening - this feels very much like the Prince Philip announcement day!
