That is an intriguing account by Lily Maynard - I'd no idea that Guiliana Kendal is a solicitor.

And the references to the "previous legal team" - I'm very curious as to what caused the collapse of the bruited representation from S Chelvan of No. 5.

A real one? I've seen so many numpties on Twitter claiming to be lawyers, doctors, PhD students/grads that I'm always sceptical.

From LM's article it sounds like GK sacked their legal team. Reading between the lines (this is speculation but I do speak from experience) I suspect the lawyers were giving advice that GK didn't want to hear. S Chelvan is a very competent and experienced barrister who knows his stuff. If I was in GK's shoes I would have listened to his advice.

I CBA but if anyone's interested it's very easy to find out if GK is a solicitor - the Law Society roll is a public document that can be checked on line.

It's the whole identify thing again. Identifying as Autistic, Schizophrenic, a lawyer, a doctor, a solicitor.... actual qualifications and objectively provable (and replicatable) criteria and processes to get there are so beaurocratic, unnecessary and humiliating, aren't they? I mean if you FEEL that way you ARE that way and people should just get over it.

Or alternatively we should live in a society with strong enough gatekeeping and clear objective criteria for qualification that systems cannot be gamed and people misled and duped by those with dishonest intent and/or a challenged relationship with reality.

Too many kids brought up with wishy washy parenting who never heard the word 'no'.

But it is not kids or even young adults leading this, it goes right up to the government - people are not saying no, they are saying yes, whatever you say. And parents are losing the right to intervene.

I am the mother of a child on the autistic spectrum, my parenting is stretched to the limit and there are no resources or services to help. But at least I am expected to be advocating for my child, not told nothing.

My understanding is that Kendal was a ballroom dancer, not a lawyer. Possibly some crossed wires, given that Kendal decided to dispense with a legal team and try to do the job alone.

I have no understanding of these things yet I'm still surprised that the DPP hasn't intervened.

From the sound of it, GK won't have the resources to meet Linda and Venice's bills should costs go against GK.

Bizarre. Is there no mechanism to prevent people launching, perhaps hopeless, private prosecutions if they have no means to pay. Normally the need to pay the other sides costs if you lose would provide a disincentive. If you have nothing and so have no downside risk, it is an open door to malicious bullying.

The LAWS event thread mentioned that the meeting is in the evening of the day that Venice and Linda are in court so it feels like the expectation is that the day opens with a get-together outside Westminster Magistrates.

Then we get to be Vipers Who Lunch (and socialise).

Then there's an opportunity to mill round Central London until the LAWS meeting followed by an opportunity to socialise after the meeting.

At some point, this viper will need to find an opportunity to coil up somewhere and nap.
