They need to change that bloody headline.

The 'bastards' she was talking about were the mob who attacked Maria Maclachlan in broad daylight. Agressive antifeminist bastards who gather to beat women up. You know- thugs

OvaHere · 26/09/2018 20:05

From the Mail article. Someone called Vicky Jane thinks that the adult human female t-shirts are offensive.

'The pocket square was a bit of a red herring, you couldn't object to that but the T-shirts that say "woman equals adult human female" - is offensive.

OvaHere · 26/09/2018 20:07

The article is a bit misleading as they only mention the context for Linda's comments right at the end.

It feels like it was written so the readers can laugh at black, lesbian, jewish feminist vs transwoman rather than get the salient points across.

Lovely to meet you all! So glad I came out this morning. Sorry I couldn't stay for the after party xxx

Knicknackpaddyflak · 26/09/2018 20:27

Has anyone yet managed to figure out why suffrage handkerchiefs are transphobic?

MsMcWoodle · 26/09/2018 20:30

Wonderful demo. A lovely day in a sea of shite.
Hi to the Mumsnetters I met there.
Very proud.

ManicSunday · 26/09/2018 20:31

Has anyone yet managed to figure out why suffrage handkerchiefs are transphobic?

I presume because in transactivist world, some women already did have the vote (transwomen) and it was only c** women and transmen who couldn't vote. The whole suffrage movement, like, totally erases transwomen.

Of course that didn't stop them dominating various suffrage events/media coverage this year.

OvaHere · 26/09/2018 20:34

Because at the turn of the last century women were not centring transwomen enough in their fight for the vote? Who the fuck knows? These people could be offended by their own shadows. I'm not sure there has to be a reason.

AncientLights · 26/09/2018 20:35

The Mail article contains a line about 'gender being immutable'. Again this bloody confusion of sex and gender. Sex is most definitely immutable whereas gender is not. Harrumph!

Popchyk · 26/09/2018 20:39

So Giuliana really did self-represent in court today?

That does not seem wise.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 26/09/2018 20:44

I dunno. More light shining into the working of their mind can't be a bad thing.

arranfan · 26/09/2018 20:45

According to the poor Daily Mail account:

The pair appeared in the dock together, with Bellos sporting a pocket handkerchief in the colours of the Suffragette movement.

*'The T-shirt is a highly political emblem from an organisation called Standing For Women.

'It's brazen in committing contempt of court and accusing me, the prosecutor, left right and centre. More to the point it's also obviously and clearly a breach of the Equality Act.

'The judge refused an application to remove a Suffragette pocket square from one of the defendants and a female in the public gallery wearing a T-shirt that said "woman equals adult human female".

'I say that because the offensiveness of the T-shirt and the offensiveness of the campaign is to deny me as a trans woman. It's an abuse.'

District Judge Richard Blake said: 'People are free to wear what they want.

'If somebody does wear things in court which are identified and do amount to an offence - and I'm not going to specify what that might be - but in this case I'm not satisfied the case is made for people to remove things in court.

'I'm not satisfied that amounts to an offence. This case clearly reflects issues within the community of different sections of the community.

I hope common sense prevails

Popchyk · 26/09/2018 20:53

I wonder where Giuliana got the established legal precedent of objecting to the defendant's handkerchief from?

Ally McBeal maybe?

ChattyLion · 26/09/2018 20:53

Thanks you for the links to video. I also had a little cry watching that.

Women rise!

AsAProfessionalFekko · 26/09/2018 20:54

I've never seen a photo of giulliana. Why is that?

ErrolTheDragon · 26/09/2018 20:54

The T-shirt is a highly political emblem from an organisation called Standing For Women.

It's a standard dictionary definition. Here's the one that goes with it, for avoidance of doubt:

Female
of or denoting the sex that can bear offspring or produce eggs, distinguished biologically by the production of gametes (ova) which can be fertilized by male gametes.

arranfan · 26/09/2018 20:54

According to the Daily Mail, even one of Giuliana's own supporters referred to the pocket handkerchief as a "red herring" but went on to object to the T-shirts.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 26/09/2018 20:56

But the trans community made the decision to attend apparently. They asked them all? Where were all the aggressive young men in masks?

DereksSexyPyjamas · 26/09/2018 21:03

I wonder where Giuliana got the established legal precedent of objecting to the defendant's handkerchief from?

Ally McBeal maybe?

Now, you’re just being silly.

It was Legally Blonde. Wink

hackmum · 26/09/2018 21:08

Curious quote from the trans activist saying that they no longer use the word Terf because it’s a slur word. Since when has that stopped them?

arranfan · 26/09/2018 21:10

I wonder where Giuliana got the established legal precedent of objecting to the defendant's handkerchief from?
...
It was Legally Blonde.

You're both wrong. It was clearly an apprehension grounded in Othello, Desdemona, Cassio, Iago, and the hankie. I'm a little unclear on who was being assigned which roles but possibly Giuliana was affecting to believe that the hankie placed her in danger.

Popchyk · 26/09/2018 21:13

I've just heard that Giuliana has now filed for a superinjunction in the High Court to get Judge Judy to take over the case.

Iused2BanOptimist · 26/09/2018 21:16

Two trans-men and one trans-woman held a lone transgender flag outside court after the crowds dispersed to the pub.
I'm with the pub group. Grin Adult human female.

DereksSexyPyjamas · 26/09/2018 21:16

Fuck, don’t give ‘em ideas! They actually might!
