From the article:

"For some, the basic question posed here is: Do women have a legal right to say No to being in an enclosed private space with a person who has a penis? And the current law, as it is applied, does not say an unqualified Yes to that question. Proposals to allow people to change gender on the basis of their own self-declaration (without, for instance, a medical diagnosis) leave some women even more concerned that they will have no meaningful legal right to exclude people with penises from their spaces."

Utterly chilling that men like Harrop are influencing the police and politicians to try and stop women spreading the word about this during an open legal consultation.

A feminist group is today facing the prospect of investigation by a police force and a City mayor for saying “women don’t have penises”.

Cracking article.

ballsballsballs · 19/08/2018 10:13

Excellent article, as ever.

Women don't have penises. That's not hate speech, it's the truth.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 19/08/2018 10:15

Excellent!

CholloDeNombre · 19/08/2018 10:17

They really have shot themselves in the foot with this one, haven't they? Instead of tackling it as flyposting, they are claiming it's hate speech. Everyone else outside their TRA bubble is going to sit up and say, "what the what now?"

TimeLady · 19/08/2018 10:21

Thanks too to Pink News for highlighting the stickers in the first place. James has kindly included a link to their original article. Wink

Melanippe · 19/08/2018 10:22

Is stickerwoman only in Merseyside?

If that’s the case, then my town appears to have moved a fair distance without anyone noticing because she’s been here too.

And no, factual information isn’t hate speech.

"Merseyside police has not investigated Manchester based NUS officer Jess Bradley for publishing obscene photos of children being sexually exploited but will investigate a fact? Wtf!!"

This tweet sums up the problem. Jess getting her penis out in public is not under investigation but cartoon penis stickers are

P.S. Being a good girl - using preferred pronouns, don't want to be banned by mn

LangCleg · 19/08/2018 10:29

"Merseyside police has not investigated Manchester based NUS officer Jess Bradley for publishing obscene photos of children being sexually exploited but will investigate a fact? Wtf!!"

Yes, quite. An actual penis doing public indecency and actual incitement of minors to do public indecency are just fine and dandy. A cartoon penis on a sticker is a hate crime. Laughable.

Thanks, James. I saw people tweeting you about this and am grateful you wrote about it so quickly.

Wanderabout · 19/08/2018 10:32

I didn't realise Bradley was in the same beat.

I have been rather naively assuming the blog and allegations are under investigation by the police.

They must be, surely? Is there any reason to suspect they are not?

Is he really? Oh that is going to be a fun comparison when this is discussed more on MSM.

hackmum · 19/08/2018 10:57

James should really be awarded a medal for his work on this. Janice Turner too. Bloody heroes, the pair of them.

BiologyIsReal · 19/08/2018 10:57

Not sure George Orwell could have possibly realised just how prescient he was being in when he wrote 1984.

heresyandwitchcraft · 19/08/2018 11:38

Thank you James, once more. Flowers I am so grateful to every single person that is speaking up, especially journalists and academics that are drawing attention to these issues.

Popchyk · 19/08/2018 11:41

The story of 2018 thus far:

"Women don't have penises" = degrading, insulting, inhumane, frightening

"People with a cervix" (from the Cancer Research campaign) = inclusive, kind

Wanderabout · 19/08/2018 11:43

Jean Hatchett says the police have confirmed to her the stickers are being investigated as a hate crime:

It's amazing isn't it? Get burgled and eventually a community police officer may drop round and give you a crime number if you are lucky.

Put up an easily removed sticker telling the truth and the weight of the police force will bear down on you.

I've found the jet-setting Twitter thread (I think). Hilarious
