Why are these men so contemptuous about lesbians' and women's rights? And what the fuck do they imagine it has to do with them?

Could we have an example link. Is he the gay actor who got stagefright? What in particular has he said?

I said on another thread, but knowing fuck all about a situation and having fuck all experience, doesn't stop them from voicing their opinion. And the biggest fuck you is they expect us to listen and do as they say.

AFAIK 1.3 million people follow Fry on Twitter because he is (was?) funny, not because he has any particular wisdom or moral authority.

Frankly, I've come to the conclusion that it's almost the default position. One has to consciously challenge it, in order to not be one.

But there are quite a few people who do not understand the issue. I don't think the public is at all conscious of it.

Sexual harassment is what is being objected to.

I can't see someone with his level of exposure dismissing that.

As someone else pointed out on twitter women have had 100s of years of not being believed when talking about the female experience. Now lesbians are not being believed when talking about the lesbian experience.

As a very high profile gay man he would have done much better to just stay quiet on the whole thing, regardless of his views, just like Sandi Toksvig, Sue Perkins and Claire Balding are doing. I’m sure those women have opinions on this topic, and I wouldn’t like to guess where they lie, but they aren’t voicing them.

Does not surprise me one little bit after watching him over the years. Women are an oddity to him and a long way 'other'.

The tweet makes him look like he does not know what he is talking about. He just has no clue what it was about and is dragging up old attitudes in this debate. It is beyond passé.

Datun you have said yourself you are straight - you underestimate the solidarity LGBTs show towards one another.

Stephen Fry is gay himself - he will have much more empathy for the hate and transphobia trans women experience every day than for transphobic lesbians trying to hijack pride over a few Tweets they've found online about a female penis.
