Why are these men so contemptuous about lesbians' and women's rights? And what the fuck do they imagine it has to do with them?

OP posts:
TransplantsArePlants · 09/07/2018 17:09

Inclusive means : budge up on the bench, and if you fall off the end, hard luck

Ereshkigal · 09/07/2018 17:12

Inclusive feminism is feminism watered down until there isn't a single molecule of feminism present. Perhaps they should call it homeopathic feminism.

Perfect description!

I've been wondering which of Stephen Fry's female friends may have been in touch with him.

SardinesAreYum · 09/07/2018 17:36

I had forgotten about Stephen's valuable insights into female heterosxuality and sex lives.

Current thread re the new Brexit Secretary Dominic Raab MP:

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 09/07/2018 17:59

Does he have female friends?
I think it was Grahame Linehan who put him right.

MizCracker · 09/07/2018 18:07

Fry, 53, continues: "I feel sorry for straight men. The only reason women will have sex with them is that sex is the price they are willing to pay for a relationship with a man, which is what they want," he said. "Of course, a lot of women will deny this and say, 'Oh no, but I love sex, I love it!' But do they go around having it the way that gay men do?"

So, the way gay men have sex is “the norm” and the fact women don’t generally go for public sex with total strangers (conveniently ignoring what a dangerous pursuit that would be for a woman, even if she wanted to) means they don’t enjoy sex?

Meanwhile, Stephen Fry himself only partakes in intercrural sex, like the ancient Greeks did, apparently. Make of that what you will.

R0wantrees · 09/07/2018 18:07

Does he have female friends?

He has female colleagues.

R0wantrees · 09/07/2018 18:11

I have also been wordering what the character Dr. Gregory House might have to say about all this m'larkey m'colleague.

R0wantrees · 09/07/2018 18:12

*wondering even!

Waddlelikeapenguin · 09/07/2018 18:22

Homeopathic feminism!! Grin

We should keep that one; the so open minded their brains fell out lot wil probably rush to the new-age type feminism Hmm

BeyondRaggydoll · 09/07/2018 18:42

Glinner did tweet him a bit of a "...nope..." tweet.

Intercrural sex? How the hell does one learn a fact like that?! (not sure I want to know the answer tbh!)

BeyondRaggydoll · 09/07/2018 18:42

Rowan, I still haven't seen it, but my guess is that it isn't lupus Grin

R0wantrees · 09/07/2018 18:43

Beyond Grin

MizCracker · 09/07/2018 18:45

It was a BBC documentary he did a few years back, BeyondRaggydoll. Something to do with experiences of gay people (well, men) around the world.

There was a ranting African homophobe going on about anal sex and how disgusting it was, when SF interjected to say that he’d never had anal sex, preferring intercrural.

I had to google “intercrural” and, unfortunately, I’ve never forgotten it Grin

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 09/07/2018 19:16

Only just got here. So the tweet’s gone? Were the replies not going his way? So, a misogynist; a homophobe; a living, breathing example of the Dunning-Kruger effect AND a coward. Tedious wanker.

Melamin · 09/07/2018 19:48

I had to google “intercrural” and, unfortunately, I’ve never forgotten it grin Not sure I will either Grin. Learned TMI from his books too.

LaSqrrl · 09/07/2018 22:29

Fry seems only to remove the foot from his mouth long enough to swap over feet. Yes, stellar track record of misogyny has Fry.

Luckily, <a class="break-all" href="https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:_W6dvhfbnBwJ:twitter.com/stephenfry/status/1015957028454445056+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=au&client=firefox-b" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">google cache helps this coward not to forget.

And some uppity women will keep reminding him.

LaSqrrl · 09/07/2018 22:32

"homeopathic feminism"

Luckily for me, I didn't have one of these Brew in my hand when I read that, as it would have ended up over the keyboard. So true!

Feminism does not have to be 'inclusive' (of men) any more than lesbians need to be 'inclusive' (of men).

SPOFS · 09/07/2018 22:41

I'm pleasantly surprised he's deleted the tweet though. I didn't think he would.

I do think he's a bit of a misogynist; however, you can't deny that he's brainy, much brainier than the likes of LOJ. I think he did 5 minutes of research, saw right through the whole interview, but knows that he can't be seen siding with lesbians, so is keeping quiet instead.

ALittleBitofVitriol · 09/07/2018 23:41

doctorcuntybollocks and 53rdWay

Homeopathic feminism grin “It might look just like the patriarchy to you, but actually it contains the molecule memory of an Andrea Dworkin book we briefly held near it once, therefore it’s feminist!”

Grin dying over here! round of applause

SirVixofVixHall · 10/07/2018 08:49

Anyone see the singer from Years and Years ,Olly Alexander, talking about how absolutely there should be women only spaces ? According to Olly, as trans women are women they would be included in that women only space....
WHY , given #metoo etc, is it so hard to understand why women need spaces where men aren’t allowed ? Where is the demonstrable difference between one man, sexually interested in women , and another, also sexually interested in women, who insists he is a woman ? Man number 2 doesn’t have to dress in a feminine way, or shave, he just has to declare this invisible essence of womanhood , and women are supposed to welcome him into womanhood, lesbians are supposed to fancy him ?

LeiaTheSlaya · 10/07/2018 09:04

Well, well, well! Mr Fry is now tweeting about the OED being 90 this year. Asking people to tweet their favourite words. His is 'bundle' - suspect he's being a tad PA in that!

Anyone want to add 'woman' or 'lesbian' as I think Mr Fry likes dictionary definitions.

R0wantrees · 10/07/2018 09:19

Olly Alexander interview with Channel 4 News last week,
