I've just seen in Twitter that she was attacked by a random man in the street! She hasn't said why yet.

I am just that this is happening in 2018

(I hope it's okay to post this here. I imagine people will want to discuss it)

I'd contribute to a fundraiser. He should be able to claim criminal injuries compensation as well.

speedy recovery, Magdalen. She’s a tiny person with serious health issues, who on earth could think that any violence against her is justified. Blows to the head as well . It sounds like a (male) passer by who came to her aid was knocked out. That’s some force involved.

She has just said it was a “random bloke” - no indication that it was a targetted attack because of her activism. But, you can’t help wonder can you. It would be so sadly unsurprising if so.

Oh, how awful. And I hope the man who came to her aid is ok. What a terrible thing to have happen to them.

I wouldn't jump to conclusions. Of course it's a possibility - but from her twitter it seems she doesn't think so.

It might have been a lesbophobic attack. Or just a nutter.

Magdalen is not only an awesome woman's rights activist, she's also a young woman with a life, who I would imagine gets out and about in Edinburgh and other places. She has plenty of opportunities to come across nutcases.

Agreed Helico. There's good CCTV footage apparently, so hopefully somebody will identify him.

Fekko, as far as I can tell she got attacked by a stranger in the street, another guy stepped in to helm Magdelen and was knocked unconscious for his troubles.

And on Magdelen's twitter feed she got mansplained about being beaten up.

Police and ambulance came. The bloke that came to help me got the worst of it. Apparently they have good cctv footage of the whole incident so hopefully the lunatic will get caught.

She's a lesbian feminist activist. Not sure if she's still a student but when she was she was banned from loads of LGBTQ groups for pointing out that demanding lesbians have sex with TIM is homophobic. Shes She's been the target of a lot of TRA bullying. Magdalen is a tiny woman who is being treated for brain cancer. She's physically frail, though an intellectual powerhouse.

But it's not impossible - I've been punched by a random man on the street in the middle of the day.

The fact that the man who came to help her was beaten unconscious indicates that she's not exaggerating when she says he probably saved her life.

Hope they are both OK and the police catch this guy and throw the book at him.
