Let's meet up - find/start gender critical feminist groups

There have been a couple of threads recently about finding/starting local gender critical feminist groups in real life, see here and here.

How about we just do it!

If you feel comfortable doing so, please post your nearest large town/city and we can then contact each other by pm (after due diligence with an advanced search) and talk to each other at a local level, and then organise for groups to meet up in real life.

I'll start. I'm in the far north of Scotland so don't really expect anyone very close to me, but would love to find anyone who could meet up in Inverness.

I also know of groups who meet up in Dundee, Glasgow and Edinburgh who I would be willing to pass on your details to.

Many of us are quite rightly cautious of being out in public on this issue, but are simultaneously desperate to find like-minded women. If anyone has any better ideas for us connecting in real life, please post.

Waves back!

I was starting to think I was the only Black Country lass 😁

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 14/06/2018 18:11

Tobee and Pratchet, I'm in the Guildford area.

louiseaaa · 14/06/2018 18:18

I'm in the west midlands. South Birmingham

Kettlepotblackagain · 14/06/2018 18:28

I’m also near Guildford - could you send me any details please? Thanks.

Manchester Feminist Network is GC. If you search for the FB group you can apply to join (regardless of location). For people within reach of Manchester the group meets on a monthly basis in the city centre.

Worth noting that there is a bit of a wait to be approved for the FB group, as they are trying to vet people to ensure that genuine debate takes place and that the group isn't infiltrated by people deliberately trying to derail the agenda.

mancheeze · 14/06/2018 18:45

I'm in a Crown country, does that count?

Canadian here. You UK women really inspire us Canadians. I follow every UK event when it's possible. Please stream your stuff on Youtube or Facebook and let us know links.

Count me in. I'm in the NE. The sooner we have groups where we are not treated like toddlers the better. MN have decided we, grown ups have to have what we say moderated and dictated. We need to move out of here and into a space where grown ups can talk as grown ups.

NotAnotherFeckingMuftiDay · 14/06/2018 19:20

Tobee and Prachet I'm nearish you and would be interested.
I don't post much but have met Prawn a couple of times so perhaps she can vouch for me...

Prawn Hope you made your train last night and it was lovely to see you again.

Writersblock2 · 14/06/2018 19:22

I’m happy to “collect” sw women - I just need to know your rough locations so we know if regular meet-ups are possible or whether we should have smaller groups that feed into a bigger sw group. Geographically, sw is a pain in the butt.

just5morepeas · 14/06/2018 20:41

If this is still going, I can do Hull/Doncaster and thereabouts.

Southfields · 14/06/2018 20:42

I can't travel, I need an online forum.

ResistanceIsNecessary · 14/06/2018 21:32

Mancheeze have a look at Femmy Ma on FB. She's based in the US and the page is primarily for WOC but she's happy to welcome any GC feminists. She's been targeted recently by people attempting to get her page banned for "hate speech" because she is GC. There's a public page and a private group that you can apply to join.

Norther · 15/06/2018 00:55

I've followed quietly in the background for years. Never posted on mumsnet before but would love to meet other gender critical feminists. I am in calderdale so hebden bridge would be good for me too. I am a single mum and don't have a car so that constrains me a bit in terms of meeting time and place.

ResistanceIsNecessary · 15/06/2018 09:01

Norther if you're able to get to a train station then the monthly meets at MFN might be of interest? I think we have a few people who come over from Calderdale and Leeds.

longhouselisaSpartacus · 15/06/2018 09:05

Overseas but following online. Will be bummed if Mumsnet doesn't buck its ideas up over 1984.

Nuffaluff · 15/06/2018 09:08

I’m in Bucks. I’d love to meet up.

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 15/06/2018 09:28

I’m in a rural area in Derbyshire. I’ve looked for feminist groups in two accessible towns, including one over the border into Nottinghamshire but there isn’t anything.

fatwatastic · 15/06/2018 09:32

I feel quite passionately about all this and my family just do not seem to get it. Would love to meet up and talk. Im near liverpool :D

Fortheloveofscience · 15/06/2018 09:35

Bucks here.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 15/06/2018 09:39

I can certainly vouch for Notanotherfeckingmuftiday. It was lovely seeing her again the other night.

It was lovely seeing everyone, particularly Terfulike and her daughter, and Askaterf. I was the tallish woman in the blue spotty dress in the front row.

ResistanceIsNecessary · 15/06/2018 09:47

I think a lot of the GC groups are sailing under the radar at the moment, because they've been targeted.

For those of you on FB if you don't already follow Mayday for Women, A Woman's Place and FiLiA then it's worth doing - as often there are links and info in the comments about meetings and groups.

Norther · 15/06/2018 12:56

ResistanceisNecessary is MFN Manchester? I could do that if my 5 year old could come. She is in training for being gender critical! Also does anyone know of a single page leaflet that condenses the issues along with media examples that I can hand out to other people. Loads of people who I have been talking to about this just weren't aware of what's going on and the transgendertrend resources are too lengthy so I can't afford to print lots of copies.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 15/06/2018 14:08

sages.org.uk/ Brief leaflets here

Yes it is. Kids (AFAIK) are welcome at meetings, although there are some topics which you might prefer her not to hear - the most recent meeting was focused on listening to the experiences and activism of a prostitution survivor. The meeting topics are posted on the FB group well in advance though.

Have a look for it on FB and if you think it ticks your boxes then apply to join. As I've mentioned earlier there is a bit of a wait though, as they are vetting people to try and make sure that it's only genuine feminists wanting to join.
