Let's meet up - find/start gender critical feminist groups

There have been a couple of threads recently about finding/starting local gender critical feminist groups in real life, see here and here.

How about we just do it!

If you feel comfortable doing so, please post your nearest large town/city and we can then contact each other by pm (after due diligence with an advanced search) and talk to each other at a local level, and then organise for groups to meet up in real life.

I'll start. I'm in the far north of Scotland so don't really expect anyone very close to me, but would love to find anyone who could meet up in Inverness.

I also know of groups who meet up in Dundee, Glasgow and Edinburgh who I would be willing to pass on your details to.

Many of us are quite rightly cautious of being out in public on this issue, but are simultaneously desperate to find like-minded women. If anyone has any better ideas for us connecting in real life, please post.

I'm in Glasgow, but I've only recently joined MN.

Bristol

Placemarking. However I am a regular name-changer and when I pm someone with a request for info about my local group it won't be from this name or from a name with much posting history so advanced search won't help. Would MNHQ verify my bona-fide status do you think?

LoafEater · 26/05/2018 18:14

West London here. I would love to talk to someone in RL about all this.

Cooroo · 26/05/2018 18:32

Gubinsy and glenthebattleostrich (hope I got those right) - pm me. If you're FB I think I can add you to the group - not very active but good starting point, otherwise if you give me your emails I'll try and let you know if anything's planned.

collieflowers · 26/05/2018 19:57

Dundee, or Edinburgh at a stretch. I've been a lurk for for years but only posted about the WPUK meeting in Edinburgh, which I then didn't get to. I hope this doesn't look suspicious.

2rebecca · 26/05/2018 21:05

Can someon pm me the Edinburgh group details as I posted about Fife/Ed but if there is already a group makes sense for us to join tha

Angryresister · 26/05/2018 21:10

Southern Spain?

crunchymint · 26/05/2018 21:36

There are some general feminist groups already where women who understand biology are welcome.

ErrolTheDragon · 26/05/2018 23:31

Some of us have difficulty finding them, crunchymint - or maybe it depends where you are in the country and what SM you use. Maybe if you know of any in the areas mentioned you could give people a clue via PM?

terfinginthevoid · 27/05/2018 09:09

South Lincolnshire - near Lincoln/Boston/Grantham, could travel to Nottingham/Peterborough/Leicester.

Badgerthebodger · 27/05/2018 11:07

Angryresister Spain? Well if you’re really desperate for feminist company I’ll take one for the team and fly out to stay on your sofa in the sunshine for a few days Grin

crunchymint · 27/05/2018 11:25

Errol Yes fair point.
Manchester feminist group has a number of radical feminists in it. Nottingham has too. Hebden Bridge as well. I think Leeds has, but was a while ago I knew about that group. I think Bristol has. And I think Glasgow has.
I guess I would recommend going to your local feminist group, being open about your views, and sussing it out. Some are very liberal and will have you out the door before you can finish saying - you can't change sex. Others will have women with a variety of views. In some cases it may only be one woman who is overjoyed to see you.
Also on meet up is a social radical feminist group for London. There may be others elsewhere. Generally the university feminist groups are very pro trans.
In some places though something needs to be set up.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/05/2018 11:29

Thanks crunchy.

OhGrrr · 27/05/2018 13:01

Also placemarking.

KaiserThiefs · 27/05/2018 13:07

Chester or NE Wales would be handy...not that I could be an organiser, more an enthusiastic joiner-in

Blanketbox · 27/05/2018 13:40

I’m in East Anglia. Would love to meet other gc people. Have nc but happy to release my usual name via dm.

Pratchet · 27/05/2018 13:53

I know there are loads of us in my area. I could be living up the road from some of you. Don't know how to find you.

invisibleoldwoman · 27/05/2018 14:30

Hull and East Riding of Yorkshire

Chocolatecake84 · 27/05/2018 14:45

I'm in London. There is a radfem group that meets up regularly and also a lesbian radfem group. The former can be found on Meetup, the latter has more stringent security measures. If anyone wants more information please PM me and I can send you more information.

ErrolTheDragon · 27/05/2018 15:14

I could be living up the road from some of you. Don't know how to find you.

Either give a clue (nearest large town, county, larger area eg NW England) and see if anyone PMs you - or wait till someone else local to you does and pm them. I'm not sure there's any other way, really.

Pratchet · 27/05/2018 15:57

Thanks Errol. Hmmm.

Pratchet · 27/05/2018 15:58

South west London. Nappy Valley postcode.

WelcomeToGilead · 27/05/2018 16:03
