Let's meet up - find/start gender critical feminist groups

There have been a couple of threads recently about finding/starting local gender critical feminist groups in real life, see here and here.

How about we just do it!

If you feel comfortable doing so, please post your nearest large town/city and we can then contact each other by pm (after due diligence with an advanced search) and talk to each other at a local level, and then organise for groups to meet up in real life.

I'll start. I'm in the far north of Scotland so don't really expect anyone very close to me, but would love to find anyone who could meet up in Inverness.

I also know of groups who meet up in Dundee, Glasgow and Edinburgh who I would be willing to pass on your details to.

Many of us are quite rightly cautious of being out in public on this issue, but are simultaneously desperate to find like-minded women. If anyone has any better ideas for us connecting in real life, please post.

Sorry, missed off your other question. I think Mayday 4 Women did something like this recently? Let me go and have a look.

Thanks for all that info. I don't use facebook anymore so I will just go along to the next meeting and if they cover a topic that is unsuitable for children we can leave the room for a while. I have been searching for a gender critical group for ages but it is so hard to see where groups stand on these core issues. I have immense sympathy for people with mental disorders or who feel unable in our restrictive society to be gender non-conforming and so find it easier to be trans and I have known a lot of trans people who are biologically male and don't want to cause them distress but I also believe in the absolute right of women to say things as they are and am excited to meet up with others who are similarly inclined. I'm going to stop lurking on mumsnet and start posting more as well to do my small part in helping to up the numbers of us on here.

OK it wasn't M4W it was the Manchester Feminist Action Group. They did a city centre awareness and protest event a few months ago, where they handed out some leaflets.

I have copies, if you PM me your email address I'll send the downloads of the snapshots I have from FB. I don't want to put them on here because it will invariably attract a load of reports under the new 3 strikes rule.

The horton women's holiday centre is nice to meet up in. I know I go on about it but it's true - and it's accessible by train. And child-friendly.

barnacharmer · 19/06/2018 20:19

PM me if you are in the Midlands and looking for a group

neontalks · 16/09/2018 14:09

Hi, recently moved to Glasgow and am struggling to find like-minded women. Does anyone know of any groups in the Glasgow’s area? Feel free to PM me

neontalks · 16/09/2018 14:13

I’m new to Mumsnet but am happy to add on Facebook/twitter etc to validate that I am a genuine radfem

Confusedandlostagain · 16/09/2018 14:20

I would like to help if possible. I’m in east Scotland so could make either Edinburgh or Dundee.

Truckingonandon · 16/09/2018 14:30

I'm in Cheshire and have requested to join the Manchester FB group.

qumquat · 16/09/2018 14:32

South east London here.

WeWantJustice · 16/09/2018 14:46

North Kent

At the last Let A Woman Speak meeting in Plymouth, Dr Nicola Williams from Fair Play For Women said that if you were interested in getting involved with FPFW you could email her and she would put you in touch with a local group. Think that's a good mechanism to meet people and do some really urgent work at the same time.

Nousernameforme · 16/09/2018 17:21

I know there is at least one gc person in my area as sticker woman has been busy. I would quite like to have a gc chat over a coffee. I'm south of Bristol in a famously muddy area.

PeakedinthePeaks · 16/09/2018 17:30

Changed my name solely for the feminism board as I know of at least one person who knows me IRL on here. I'm between Sheffield and Manchester.

scotsheather · 16/09/2018 17:40

Aberdeen (for now at least). Waves at Scottish posters.

BlueAnemone · 16/09/2018 18:24

Glasgow here

ErrolTheDragon · 16/09/2018 18:45

There's a few of us in the Preston/Lancaster area trying to arrange a meet up at the moment.

RetroTardigrade · 16/09/2018 18:55

Glasgow here too

Iused2BanOptimist · 16/09/2018 18:58

Nousernameforme that might not be a million miles from me! I would love a chance for a real life chat with some other gc people. Definitely not possible for me at work and the family are all 😵 when I warm to my theme.

myphoneisgone · 16/09/2018 19:09

Cardiff! When I moved here I googled feminists groups but the one I found said on their Facebook page, no Terfs or Swerfs and if you post something that offends someone you need to apologise! Didn't want to join a 'feminist' group that thinks women should be 'nice' and silenced if they aren't.

MnerXX · 16/09/2018 19:16

lefthanddown Blanketbox, I’m Cambridge. Could that work?

ScrimshawTheSecond · 16/09/2018 19:29

Just checking out Glasgow Feminist Collective, in response to someone further upthread - on their fb page 'I recommend having the consultation online form open on your screen next to the Trans Alliance guidance - it makes it incredibly easy' - not thinking it's going to be v friendly towards gender critical feminists, tbh.

I'm nearish to Glasgow.
