Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Let's meet up - find/start gender critical feminist groups

There have been a couple of threads recently about finding/starting local gender critical feminist groups in real life, see here and here.

How about we just do it!

If you feel comfortable doing so, please post your nearest large town/city and we can then contact each other by pm (after due diligence with an advanced search) and talk to each other at a local level, and then organise for groups to meet up in real life.

I'll start. I'm in the far north of Scotland so don't really expect anyone very close to me, but would love to find anyone who could meet up in Inverness.

I also know of groups who meet up in Dundee, Glasgow and Edinburgh who I would be willing to pass on your details to.

Many of us are quite rightly cautious of being out in public on this issue, but are simultaneously desperate to find like-minded women. If anyone has any better ideas for us connecting in real life, please post.

I would be interested too

athingthateveryoneneeds · 29/05/2018 12:05

I'm in Merseyside and already attend a fledgling group. Any interest please PM me and I can talk to the group leader. I think I'm the only MN addict in the group!

Pratchet · 29/05/2018 12:06

If you advance search me you won't find me here for long and definitely not posting about children. How will you trust me?

UpstartCrow · 29/05/2018 12:08

We could use technology and include you in a physical group.
That would be great, I could get a webcam.

I also think we need a tech support group.

SaraTree · 29/05/2018 12:19

Bristol based, and know a few other local GC feminists. Will be name-changing (yet again!) after posting this, but think I'll still receive PMs from anyone who wants to get in contact in response to this post..

OldEnglishSheepDog · 29/05/2018 12:27

Wiltshire anyone?

tobee · 29/05/2018 12:28

I've been here a while and haven't name changed yet.

Trust issues worry me a bit but would be interested in meeting up. Smileobviously my smiley face emoji makes me totally genuine!

tobee · 29/05/2018 12:30

@Thamesis, @LondonPainter , @Pratchet

Pratchet · 29/05/2018 12:33

Ok I'm in

FormerlyPickingOakum · 29/05/2018 12:34

Is anyone near Hebden Bridge? I'd like to get involved in a gender-crit liberationist feminist group.

I've been reticent in the past as I'm not a lesbian and I don't want to accidentally encroach on specific feminist spaces for lesbians and their lived experiences. I'm also very anti-brocialist and anti-Corbynista (though I don't actually mind Corbyn himself), so that's made me a little cautious.

But if you know of a group that would be happy to have me, drop me a pm. Grin

tobee · 29/05/2018 13:04

Actually can you pm on the app?

MipMipMip · 29/05/2018 13:44

I've PMed a couple.

TeaEnjoyingRadientFeminist · 29/05/2018 14:06

Another for Newcastle here

LondonPainter · 29/05/2018 15:11

I'm in but also can't work out how to PM on the app Confused

tobee · 29/05/2018 15:26

I've pm'd you through desktop!

tobee · 29/05/2018 15:26

That's was to @LondonPainter

newtlover · 29/05/2018 18:14

place marking, but looking forward to possibly meeting up IRL
I've also had a few name changes over the years- but I think this one has been in use for a few years!

ErrolTheDragon · 29/05/2018 18:18

AFAIK you need to log into the browser version both to send and read PMs. That's what I've been doing, though I'm usually an app user nowadays.

Ekphrasis · 29/05/2018 18:25

Newcastle please!

RaininSummer · 29/05/2018 18:31

Am in south devon. Will look for the sign up sheet at WPUK Truro.

Thamesis · 29/05/2018 18:35

@tobee @londonpainter @pratchet
No idea how to pm etc I access via a mobile but will give it a go or try to pm me?

Lostinedinburgh · 29/05/2018 18:37

Been lurking for a few months, not many posts, but would love to meet up with other MN edinbuggers.

charlyn · 29/05/2018 18:41

I’m near Leicester but from Nottingham so could possibly travel there too.

BlytheByName · 29/05/2018 18:42

London and soon to be Eastbourne.
So anyone in Sussex?

ErrolTheDragon · 29/05/2018 18:51

Here's the info on how to do PMs...though I'm not sure it's 100% accurate.

www.mumsnet.com/info/private-messaging

If you open that link in a browser, apart from it containing the info you can then log in using the button near the top right corner. This requires your registered email and password. The login button will then be replaced by the My Mumsnet button from which you can access your Inbox (at least, that's what it's like on Safari)
