I feel very saddened that my DD was a victim of rape over a year ago and that she has to go through the trauma of reliving it in a court and that she will be on trial not him where is the justice

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 07/04/2018 21:54

So sorry for your daughter newstart, I truly hope she sees justice handed down in court.

Thank you Zibbi feeling very disheartened tbh everyone has an opinion but if it was your daughter or your son....

buckeejit · 07/04/2018 22:09

New start I'm sorry that your dd has been through that and for what's ahead of her.

This trial has really saddened me, but more than that I've been out today with 2 friends who are both intelligent women & when this case came up in conversation they both to quite some extent had a victim blaming mentality & 'this trial did nobody any good'. Eventually we had to change the conversation as the conflict between us became quite uncomfortable but I feel let down by them, although I doubt that many people I know have followed the trial as closely as those on this thread.

I don't know what the answer is, but change is spectacularly needed & I currently don't feel like I can talk to anyone IRL about it anymore.

Collateral damage is the phrase you were looking for, I think, and yes, that is exactly what it feels like. I'm so sorry you aren't able to talk to someone, and that your friends have made things worse for you.

Why is it always the females who have been traumatised that can't talk about it. I bet the men never feel like that and always get the support when they do. It's must be that rape culture again.

DianaBlythe · 07/04/2018 23:34

I wonder how their team mates feel about them?

Judging by twitter and including tweets from players from other teams, they feel the woman is picking on them and only making the allegations because they are rugby players. Or that it is a big joke.

Bumble Flowers what a difficult position to be in. I’m just glad someone had you to confide in, she obviously chose the right person.
