Apparently the Alt-Right and 4-Chan are using MN.
I think it's just one person who controls their tweets. I really hope that the top Lib Dems know what's being said.

They dont consider sexism to be a problem?

Oh right. So why DO they have AWS?

And is this a man or woman saying this, because i've seen some pretty dubious looking stuff that looks remarkably like sexism.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 07/04/2018 20:21

if there actually was a decent left leaning party that wasn't full of misogynistic fuckweasels, I'd vote for it in an instant

Absolutely this

Ereshkigal · 07/04/2018 21:06

Yes, please someone start that party!

New party gets £50m backing to ‘break mould’ of UK politics
Plans secretly made by donors since 2016 for a new political party drawing from both left and right

So far there have been a number of attempts to start a new centre party so I wouldn't get too excited. But this does look like the most serious yet.

BoreOfWhabylon · 07/04/2018 22:18

Now, that is interesting Red. Thanks.

ZERF · 07/04/2018 22:30

Ooooh!

Well there's been enough threads here on a new party!

I am saddened by the lib dems though.

RedToothBrush · 07/04/2018 22:32

It depends on whether its just another 'liberal' party or one that believes in 'liberal democracy' and understands the difference is consensus building rather this virtue signally nonsense. And whether they can get out of their london bubble and head north.

Truscum · 07/04/2018 22:47

I’ll be watching with great interest as I consider myself politically homeless right now.

LangCleg · 07/04/2018 22:58

I’ll be watching with great interest as I consider myself politically homeless right now.

Me too, Truscum, me too.

Unsure how successful a new party would be but interested to see a roughing out of a possible policy platform. But I'm not sure there even is a centre position to take at the moment - all the consensus certainties around which left and right orbited seemed to collapse back in 2008 with the financial crisis and I don't see anything emerging to take its place.

Gender issues notwithstanding, I think we're in for rocky years until some fresh consensus emerges and then the major political parties can do what they are supposed to do and take up positions around it.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 07/04/2018 23:07

Yes

Trumpdump · 07/04/2018 23:47

I too am watching this new party with interest...

AngryAttackKittens · 08/04/2018 10:00

At this point I'm thinking that a party full of actual weasels might be an improvement. At least they wouldn't be able to tweet.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 08/04/2018 12:07

If they were gender critical weasels I'd vote for them

Bekabeech · 08/04/2018 15:33

Umm the talk of a new party is all okay, until you think about who you will actually have a choice of voting for.
In the local elections near me it is a straight choice between Conservative or Lib Dem, with in a few areas the addition of either: Labour or a Local interest party or Residents association. And those are the easiest elections for a new force to breakthrough hence the Local interest councillors.
For national elections it is Conservative or Lib Dem if you have a real choice. Lots of seats are Conservative safe seats and even a high profile special interest candidate made little headway.

If the political system changes then we could get real democracy rather than having to vote for the "least worst".

CATTgroupJen · 08/04/2018 15:42

Whoever runs this twitter account seems to be very juvenile in their postings.

I stopped voting LibDem years ago and will not be voting for the new party either. Just like the SDP they will just split the Left vote and allow the Tories back in again and then disappear.

MsMcWoodle · 09/04/2018 11:24

Got a reply to my complaint. Notice that the last line does not include the word 'sex':

"It would appear you are complaining about the Liberal Democrats LGBT+ Twitter account. If that is the case, the Liberal Democrats LGBT+ are independent of the Party and comments on their site are their own and not the Party’s.

The Liberal Democrats strive to provide an inclusive and open environment and we are extremely proud of our record on LGBT+ issues.

As a party, we believe in people's right to self-identify and determine their own gender as a fundamental human right, and we celebrate this diversity and inclusivity. This includes being able to identify as an ‘X’ for those who do not wish to define themselves as male or female – which helps to reduce discrimination against transgender and intersex people.

We look to promote and work with minority groups at every opportunity within the party. The Liberal Democrats exist to represent, promote and encourage liberal values in our society and we strive for everyone to feel acceptance and understanding within the party regardless of age, race, gender or sexuality."

AssassinatedBeauty · 09/04/2018 11:27

Wow, so anyone can set up a Liberal Democrats XYZ twitter account and post what they like whilst claiming to represent the Lib Dems? Maybe someone should set up a gender critical Lib Dems account and start posting on behalf of the Lib Dems?

R0wantrees · 09/04/2018 11:32

THere are as many similar issues within closed LibDem facebook groups however there it is clear who is posting and the roles they occupy within the party.

RedToothBrush · 09/04/2018 11:40

Thats a stock reply....

Will post later.

RedToothBrush · 09/04/2018 12:49

This is my reply.

RedToothBrush · 09/04/2018 12:52

The funny this, is I did not once mention self id in my complaint.

Not a single time.

They do not give a fuck.

They are not interested in women.
They are not interested in transparency.
They are not interested in how a party of the party acts in their name.
They are not interested in democrat process.
They can't even be arsed to reply to a complaint.

Can anyone tell me why I should vote for them?

RedToothBrush · 09/04/2018 13:02

Hey look at this tweet today folks...

Paddy Ashdown @ paddyashdown
New centre Party? Nick Clegg spot on on BBC Today. This is not a time for the Centre to be tribal. If the modern moderates can find their voice like En Marche we all have to be part of that. Lib Dems included.

MumOfThrMoos · 09/04/2018 14:21

And that, RTB, is the sort of dismissive response that led to me leaving them.

We've heard from more than one poster here that people are being shut down on their face groups for questioning Self ID.

However, I bent the ear of my local Lib Dem council candidate at the weekend about this and he was shocked when I told him what was going on. As shocked as the Labour councillor was a few weeks ago when I told him what his party was up to, as well.

There's lots of people, heavily involved in the Lib Dems but not part of a certain group or groupings who have had no idea of what is being said in their name. There had been no big debate about Self ID - just a small group of people who have taken it upon themselves to decide what the policy should be and an incompetent leadership group who have put zero critical thinking into dealing with it. They've outsourced policy on it to an SAO who have then silenced or bullied anybody who had suggested that Self ID might conflict with women's rights.

RedToothBrush · 09/04/2018 14:33

You can't see sexism, if you only see gender.

DarthArts · 09/04/2018 15:54

Hi All, I got an identical response to my complaint.

All very dismissive imho.
